Adryan, after stumbling over his words, quickly found himself and fell back into his charming and smooth nature. He respected the space that she kept between them, even though his first instinct was to close it. He didn't want to ruin the little progress he had made with her.

"I can promise my feet will be fine. And since we are on this honesty kick, you just happened to surprise me with this dance."

A hand gently fell on her hip. He was almost worried that she might take it the wrong way and put him up against the wall again. He had noticed the almost playful tone she had taken on. It was strange how she almost seemed to soften up as the night went on.

"I gotta say, there is something about your eyes..."

Adryan let himself trail off as he looked into her dark blue eyes. He had been catching that gaze all night, and now he had its sole focus.

"I enjoy dancing, even with a petty thief as a partner."
Hah'en admitted with the smallest smile. Hah'en liked using her body in athletic activities that pushed her limits, and ballroom dancing was elegant and matched Hah'en's personal aesthetic very well.

The hand on her hip didn't make Hah'en flinch or react in any significant way, it was where the leader's hand went in ballroom dancing, after all. Though it had been a while since Hah'en had felt hands on her body that weren't intending to hurt her, it was refreshing. To be free of her shift, free of having to stay alert, was refreshing, and for a moment Hah'en found herself wondering if she truly wanted to continue doing work that made her so very tense. It wasn't like Hah'en didn't have other talents besides her combat abilities...

Surprisingly, Hah'en had spaced out for just a moment with a distant look im her eyes, and almost missed Adryan's words about her eyes. Said eyes looked at him with disbelief and she sighed lightly.
"There is no need for you to try to use your charm, it won't work. My eyes have no special features."
And it was true, Hah'en's eyes were just that, eyes. They had the same shade of blue as a deep sea trench, but that was it.
"Now, are you going to lead, or should we change roles?"
Which they actually could do, because in her low heels Hah'en was the same height as Adryan, and she knew how to lead as well as follow.

"No no...no charm. I mean it. I can pick your eyes out in a crowd of people."

Adryan had done it all night throughout the Gala. It was easy to find them, and he didn't mind looking into them. He felt strangely at ease with her at the moment. Her small smile brought another one to his own face as well.

Stepping off with the appropriate foot, Adryan took the advice of his partner and took lead. She seemed to have relaxed considerably since the beginning of the evening, and even as soon as the last time she had him pushed up against the wall before essentially asking him to dance.

"You could just take the compliment. Even from a petty thief."

His tone was teasing and playful as they continued what was basically a private dance between them. No one was in the hallway but them, and the light from the main room of the Gala shrouded the entrance in shadow making it hard to see in.

Hah'en rolled the eyes Adryan seemed to be so attached to and didn't comment any further on that topic. Hah'en wasn't worried about Adryan's charm working on her, but she was in a more vulnerable state emotionally now that she was relieved to be free of her work shift. Hah'en didn't want to take any chances.
But Hah'en allowed herself to think that the thief was more pleasant company when every other sentence out of his mouth wasn't a lie.

Once Adryan took the lead Hah'en easily fell into his rhythm and followed skillfully. She had decades and decades of experience under her belt, after all. And Hah'en, though she didn't quite smile, found her face relaxing and she briefly closed hee eyes. Their dance wasn't especially intimate or slow, but it was pleasant and Hah'en enjoyed it. Adryan was good at leading.
"I'm already aware that I'm attractive, I don't need your compliments."
Hah'en said back to Adryan, her eyes still closed, and there was stilla vague edge of playfulness to her voice.

Hah'en knew the other security guards that shared a dressing room with her wouldn't be free in another hour or so, so they wouldn't interrupt them, and any gala guests would know better than to interrupt a "tender moment" or however they decided to decipher what they saw. So, Hah'en for once tried not to worry and just let go of the tension in her shoulders. She still kept a part of herself focused on Adryan, not daring to trust him, but otherwise she was quite relaxed.

Adryan noted the ease in which she fell into his lead. She was either a natural at this, or she had plenty of experience in it. He had a feeling it was a little of both. She moved naturally elegantly. The thief had seen that first hand on their first meeting that didn't go so well for him, and ended with him going through a window.

"I feel like you've done this a few times."

His tone was sincere. No charm, no silver lined words, no snark. Just genuine conversation as they shared what could only be described as a moment. It could be interpreted different ways, but it seemed they were both enjoying themselves, even if only temporarily.

"What made you change your mind?"

Adryan was referring to earlier when she stated she wouldn't have danced with him, even outside of work. Yet here they were. Sharing a dance together.

It was a shame that just when Adryan was up to making some genuine conversation without any unnecessary falsehoods or use of charm it was about a topic that Hah'en would very much not like to share. Well, Hah'en didn't like sharing any information about herself, in her previous occupation it meant death. And she didn't exactly trust Adryan with her life, very far from it.
But...
"...As I said, I enjoy dancing. If one enjoys something they also do it."
Hah'en said, her tone vaguely vary but sincere as well. Yes, sharing that she liked dancing and had done it before didn't seem like a big deal normally, but for Hah'en, it was a considerably big step.
Step towards what, she didn't know.

"Am I not entitled to whims?"
Hah'en asked, cocking a brow at Adryan. Because yes, she remembered what she had said, and she had meant it at that moment. But Hah'en had emotions and sometimes those emotions ran stronger than her reason, unfortunately. And this moment had been one of them.
"It's unlikely to happen again, so I suggest you enjoy this opportunity."
Hah'en suggested, flipping her hair slightly so it was out of her eyes. The movement had made her silky hair escape the bun she had put it on.

"Oh not saying that at all. You absolutely are."

They continued their dance with each other and Adryan found himself ever so closer to her. It wasn't a conscious thing, but more do to the nature of the dance. It wasn't like Adryan actually minded it however. She was extremely attractive.

As if to emphasis that point, she flipped her hair causing it to fall loosely around her. It wasn't just her physical attractiveness that intrigued Adryan. There was something else. Something he couldn't put his finger on just yet.

"I promise you I'm enjoying every bit of this. I hope you are too... even if it's with a petty thief."

His voice held a level of sincerity mixed with playfulness. He had tossed the nickname she called him back to her in a playful jest before following it up with a smile.

Adryan managed to get an amused huff out of Hah'en with his answer, and their dance continued. Hah'en noticed the gap between them slowly closing, but she didn't mind all that much. She wasn't all that protective of her personal space unless she was threatened, and in this situation Hah'en deemed Adryan to not be a threat. And even if he tried something Hah'en was confident she'd be able to counter it.

"I've had worse nights."
Hah'en commented with a vaguely playful tone as well, she was surprised at how easily Adryan could pull her into this banter with him. Hah'en could be and was snarky to an extent, but teasing and playful? That was something she reserved for close friends, and Adryan wasn't even close to such a status.
"But yes, this is enjoyable to an extent."
Hah'en admitted with a nod, whipping out her usual honesty. She wasn't overly prideful, she could admit when she was wrong and she could admit when she had been bested.

Hah'en heard the song end in the gala, but she didn't stop her steps. She had dedicated herself to this dance, and she wouldn't stop until Adryan would stop them. She wasn't in a hurry.

Adryan had heard the music stop. He considered continuing wondering how she would react. But he knew better than to push his luck. He had already managed to get away with not getting kicked out and even a dance.

He came to a stop shortly after the music ended. Taking a step back, Adryan gave a small bow to his partner with a genuine smile plastered across his face.

"This was definitely unexpected and enjoyable. Thank you."

His voice was sincere. He had honestly enjoyed the few minutes they had spent just now. It was significantly better than being thrown through a window, pinned against a wall, or having his pinkies threatened.

Adryan didn't push for their dance to continue longer and stopped, yet again stepping away and increasing the gap between them exponentially. And as he gave a polite bow Hah'en instinctively gave a small polite curtsy. It felt strange to do it without a dress of any sort.

"It was certainly new."
Hah'en agreed with yet another amused huff, but her voice was sincere too. It always was. And Hah'en enjoyed hearing Adryan speak sincerely as well, without falsehoods.
"You were almost good company during these last few minutes."
Hah'en gave Adryan that, and a hint of a smile.

"But this mark the ending of our evening. Goodbye, Adryan."
Hah'en said, nodded and walked further into the hallway and away from Adryan. She was starting to feel fatigued and longed for her bed.
