Adryan kept his eyes locked on her as she basically berated him on the subject. He couldn't help but smile a bit when she called him handsome, even if it was in a mocking tone.

"Well I was hoping for after..."

He spoke after her as she walked back into the Gala. Again letting his eyes linger, Nux was sure to chide him, "You have no chance. "

"Oh ye of little faith."

After giving her a moment to return, Adryan walked back into the main room as well. His eyes found the couple he had been eyeing from before and made his way over to them.

Striking up conversation was simple. Speak business to the husband, compliment the wife, and laughs were shared. Soon, however they waved their daughter over. She was an attractive lady in a form fitting gown. The couple insisted they dance, and wanting to get in good with them, he held an arm out to the young lady and began to dance with her. A smile on his face, ever the charmer.

Hazel green eyes looked around and found where Hah'en was. He locked gazes with her and raised on eyebrow. A motion that said 'this could be you.'

As Adryan walked past her and joined the gala Hah'en didn't react and didn't pay the man any extra attention aside from a glance now and then. He might've made a promise, but thief was still a thief. Hah'en didn't saw any other suspicious movements or actions from any other guests; it seemed like Adryan was the only bad apple in the crowd tonight.

Hah'en was about to change her position, when Adryan caught her eyes with his. He was dancing with a young woman in a dress that hugged her curves quite nicely. The eyebrow raise Adryan gave Hah'en over the woman's shoulder made her snort, half-mocking and half-amused. Was the thief actually trying to invoke feelings of jealousy in Hah'en? Of all things? It would've been almost cute if it wasn't more sad.
So, after looking at the pair for a moment Hah'en returned the brow raise with one of her own that said 'really?', and then she slipped into the crowd to find another spot to survey the area.

Hah'en settled on a spot behind a pillar just to the left from the dance floor. The evening was peaceful and Hah'en couldn't find a target to survey, and thus her eyes constantly slid over to Adryan. Her brain automatically focused on a familiar face and figure. And as Adryan danced with the young woman Hah'en remembered the balls she had attended back in the day when targeting a noble or another person high on the social ladder. Hah'en didn't like mixing business and pleasure, but during those balls she had actually enjoyed the dancing before she killed her target in a dark back room. Sometimes after seducing them because that was often the fastest way.
Hah'en let out a quiet sigh through her nose. The dance these people were dancing looked familiar, she might be able to dance it if she tried...

Adryan caught the return look which made him smile. After a turn in the dance, he lost where Hah'en had moved to. It was honestly what she was hoping for. The dance ended, and he kindly brought the young lady back to her parents. The father clasped his hand in a cheerful handshake as the mother leaned into her daughter to whisper in her ear.

The evening seemed to be going well so far. Adryan did pick up a few stray conversations. They remarked on the added security, asking if it had to do with rumors of one Adryan Speed moving to town. Even some people directly addressing Adryan himself about himself without realizing it. "You could rob them all blind and they would smile while you did it."

A smile came about his lips as the older lady of the previous couple had offered him another glass of champagne. He happily accepted it. While taking a sip Adryan answered Nux, "That's the point old friend."

The music spun up once again and Adryan glanced around trying to find the familiar pair of dark blue eyes that were inevitably watching him.

Hah'en wasn't deaf, she could hear what the guests were gossiping about. About one Adryan Speed. Hah'en wasn't surprised that Adryan was known, with his skills he would be known in the Narrow Reality, but she was slightly surprised that he had indeed told her his actual name. Or at least the name he used as a thief. Men like him usually changed their birth name. Though Hah'en wanted to avoid generalizing; she was just jaded and had seen too many people with similar motives and way of life.

Hah'en once more allowed her eyes to stray on Adryan, just enjoying champagne with an older woman, and scanning the crowd. Probably for either a new target, or...Hah'en.
He was a fool if he thought Hah'en would let him find her that easily. But nevertheless, Hah'en felt the tiniest smile tug at the corners of her mouth.
And that was when she saw it. An older man, perhaps around 40, taking another guest's purse with deft fingers. Hah'en frowned slightly and moved from her place. Though as she moved through the crowd the didn't bother resisting the temptation. She walked by Adryan, right behind his back, and with a quiet voice said
"You have competition."
before moving towards said competition.

"If you could be so kind as to come this way sir."
Hah'en said to the thieving gentleman, who turned around to glare at Hah'en. She just looked at him with a neutral, immovable expression. She knew he had heard her.
"What is the meaning of-?!"
Of course he'd try to cause a scene. But Hah'en didn't let him. Before the man could even properly raise his voice she grabbed his wrist and twisted it in a way that made the man hiss in pain, but didn't make him cry out. And as he was distracted by the discomfort Hah'en firmly escorted him to the almost vacant lobby, where few more security guards were on lookout.
"This gentleman thought it'd be a good idea to pickpocket."
Hah'en said as she brought the man to them, and she got a chuckle out of her co-workers. They took the man into custody, and Hah'en waved the purse.
"I will go return this to its proper owner."

Hah'en returned to the main hall, and didn't bother hiding herself now. Instead she walked through the crowd with fluid movements yet again, and easily tracked down the lady who had lost her purse. Thankfully she hadn't noticed yet.
Hah'en gently tapped her shoulder, and when the woman turned around Hah'en had a polite and very visible smile on her face. She could easily fake a smile, it had been one of the first things she had been taught.
"Excuse me madam, but you dropped this."
"Oh! How careless of me, I knew I should've left it with our coats. Thank you very much!"
The woman received the purse with a grateful exclaim, and Hah'en merely nodded while still upholding her polite smile.
"Think nothing of it, madam. Have a very nice gala."
And with that and a nod Hah'en turned around and yet again started scanning the space for a good space to hide, and for any more pickpockets.

Adryan heard the words as Hah'en walked behind him. He almost balked at the idea. Competition to him? Unlikely. He was still talking to the same trio. The older maternal couple and their attractive daughter. The daughter had slowly began to move closer and closer to Adryan, obviously taken in by him.

Hah'en confronted the man that was an obvious purse snatcher. The older couple turned to watch the scene and their daughter pushed into Adryan worried that a fight may break out. Perfect. While Hah'en, the only person that could catch him, distracted, deft hands undid the claspe of a charm on a bracelet that the young lady was wearing. It was once of many charms on it so she wouldn't miss it. Adryan just happened to know that it was a soul stone of a warlock from around the 1800s.

Quickly before anyone noticed, he slid the charm up his sleeve. His hand then meetings to the shoulder of the younger lady to reassure her as she pushed in farther to him, obviously enjoying the closeness.

As soon as the excitement started, it had ended. The father turned around and spied Adryan basically holding his daughter and a smile with mock outrage came upon his face.

"Mr. Tonne...are you making a move on my daughter?"

The group laughed as the daughter slapped her dad's chest playfully.

"With such a lovely Daughter I'd be a fool not to."

As soon as Hah'en found another spot to perch herself in she narrowed her eyes towards Adryan. She was no fool, there was no way he had missed Hah'en leaving the room, and she wouldn't put it past Adryan to try and do something while she was away. But Hah'en couldn't prove it, not without searching him. But she couldn't do that, even if he had slithered his way in he was a guest and Hah'en couldn't just do a search on a random guest without any evidence. And he was now among others so she couldn't as easily drag him away.
Damn this man...

Hah'en was irritated at herself for being so occupied by him, and she forced herself to focus on the rest of the main hall. Hah'en had now put herself in a more visible spot, still shrouded in thin mist but not in the shadows. So she received some looks from guests, both men and women. Some were probably because they had seen Hah'en handle the man from just now, and some were clearly looks of interest due to her looks. Hah'en acknowledged neither. Few individuals, three men and two women, approached Hah'en for a dance, and each time Hah'en conjured a polite smile on her face and turned them down with utmost respect. Hah'en's cheek were starting to hurt, she wasn't used to smiling this widely so much...

As conversation between the group continued, none seemed to be any the wiser about the theft that had taken place surrounded by potential witnesses. The older gentleman pulled Adryan slightly to the side. He threw an arm around the thief's shoulders like they were old pals. He had began talking business and wanted to keep it more private. The ladies in the group merely rolled their eyes. This was something he had done a few times it seemed.

A few smiles and nods later, the gentleman sat back up and shook Adryan's hand once more, leading him back over to the group where his daughter very quickly and eagerly took Adryan's arm. The music began to swing back up and the young lady pulled Adryan back out to dance again. This is how the rest of his night was to go, unless he could find a reason to excuse himself.

This time, their dancing seemed to be much more intimate between the two. Their first was as strangers, this one seemed to be more, even though Adryan was still a true stranger. She just didn't know it. They spun and twirled, moved away from each other and quickly back in close. The entire time he kept a peripheral eye out for his apparent rival in Hah'en.

He found her after a few minutes. She wasn't sitting in shadows like she normally was. Adryan gave her a curt nod as if telling her, 'Nice job.' It was a shame he couldn't add as much sarcasm in a look as he could in words, because it would have been dripping in it knowing his secret.

Hah'en was once again approaching the point, where her eyes were automatically slipping to Adryan due to the lack of any other activity in the room. Yes, she had caught that pickpocket earlier, but Hah'en had a feeling that had been an exception. All the other guests were determined to stay clean and enjoy the evening and networking. Adryan seemed to be among them, because Hah'en saw an older man this time pulling him to the side. Most probably a potential customer. Hah'en looked at the older man and almost automatically memorized his face, in case he'd be a hit. But then Hah'en remembered...she didn't have to kill for money anymore. A small amount of tension left her shoulders, and her eyes left the pair.

It seemed Adryan had picked up something else besides just customers tonight, or Hah'en judged as much from the way the young woman stuck very close to him. Hah'en could guess that Adryan wasn't even close to as serious about the interaction as the woman seemed to be. Adryan had definitely not told her his real name, and was otherwise faking too. Hah'en almost felt bad for the woman. Almost.
Then Adryan captured Hah'en's eyes again, and gave her a nod. Hah'en lifted a brow at that, and answered the nod by lifting her chin slightly and giving a condescending, exasperated look at to the man. Then she subtly lifted one hand against her chest, in a fist except for the pinky, and she narrowed her eyes at the thief.
A pretty clear warning, at least in Hah'en's opinion.

The couple continued dancing. Adryan had seen the motion and knew what it meant. He wasn't enough of a fool to do something to get her fired. He knew well enough that she would come and take his pinkies if he did. The last thing he wanted to try, was all his old skills, while missing a finger.

Before long the two, had moved closer to where Hah'en was standing an watching. It seemed natural enough, though Adryan may have influenced it just a little. When they turned so the ladies back was to Hah'en, Adryan gave her another look that seemed to say, 'Watch this.' He then let his gaze linger on her a bit, allowing his dancing partner to catch him looking.

Her face clearly got upset as she threw Adryan's hands off of her hips and tried to storm back to her parents. The thief quickly grabbed her arm, making sure to do so lightly as not to hurt her, and pulled her back towards him.

"It's not what it looks like, that's my sister. I helped get her a job as security tonight. Was just checking in on her."

The words rolled off his tongue as if they were the truth. They also seemed to be enough to convince her that Hah'en was actually his sister as her face softened and she gave Hah'en a brief wave. An embarrassed smile coming on her face as her cheeks flushed.

"You dirty little liar. That wasn't even needed."

Hah'en's and Adryan's eyes were locked, and Hah'en subtly raised her brow, confused as to what Adryan was trying to do with this staring match. She learned very soon, and frowned. The stunt Adryan pulled was unnecessary, and disrespectful towards the woman who thought Adryan might actually care about her. Thus, when Hah'en vaguely heard Adryan use his ability on the woman she had a very unimpressed expression on her face. Thankfully Hah'en didn't hear his words clearly enough for her to hear them, otherwise Hah'en herself might've started to believe she was Adryan's little sister. Just the thought made a shiver travel down Hah'en's spine...

Hah'en returned the young woman's wave with the same polite smile she had sported the whole evening. But the moment the woman wasn't looking Hah'en glared at Adryan, and her face basically screamed disapproval. What on Earth had Adryan hoped to achieve with that? If he had wanted to make Hah'en trust him even less then he had succeeded. When Adryan looked at her next time she mouthed 'Ridiculous' with exasperation on her face, and promptly moved her gaze to look at other parts of the hall.
