"Oh good job, I was starting to like her. She was gonna take your pinkies," Nux scolded his vessel. He had obviously picked up on the un-approving glare that Hah'en had given the thief for his little stunt. Adryan mentally dismissed him as he wouldn't have been able to vocally respond being as close as he was to his dance partner.

The song ended once more, and Adryan excused himself for the moment saying he wanted to fully check in with his 'sister.' The young lady smiled, suddenly embarrassed again, and then walked back over to her parents. Adryan then turned and looked back to Hah'en.

Walking over to her briskly before the next song started up, Adryan slapped a smile on his face and turned to face the dance floor, standing next to Hah'en.

"So how's the night going, Sis."

Hah'en almost made a face when she saw Adryan approaching her, but she firmly ignored him until the thief was standing right next to her and called her (ugh) sis. Hah'en couldn't stop a vaguely disgusted expression and sent Adryan an annoyed sideways glance.
"Call me that again and I will take your pinkies whether or not you keep your promise."
Hah'en said back in a low voice, but did her best to keep a neutral expression, since the woman who this man was seducing might very well look towards them.

"Do not interrupt my work with idle chatting. If you wish for a further reaction on that stunt of yours I will not oblige."
Hah'en added, and spared Adryan one more disapproving side-glance. She emphasized her point by taking a small step away from Adryan. The thief was a grown man, and should know what kind of actions were required from one.

It was about the reaction he expected to get. He sent her a smile and shook his head. Adryan had a reason for doing what he did. If he didn't, it would have been hard to explain leaving the company he had made to go talk to a random security guard. Plus with the small scene she had made, and stopping the purse snatcher, this very well may get her more business with the couple he was schmoozing if they thought she was his sister.

"Hey hey. I had to figure out a way to get over here to ask if you knew what this was..."

He held his palm out and in it was the charm he had swiped. Before letting her get too good of a look or stopping him, Adryan turned and started walking back to his apparent date for the evening but backwards so he was still facing Hah'en.

"The soul of an 1800's warlock. They don't even know how much this could sell for."

With that he turned and moved quickly back up to the young lady with his hand held out, the charm in it. "Are you....are you giving it back?!"

"Ali! I think you dropped this. Better make sure the clasp is on good next time."

A smile on his face as the father clasped his shoulder in appreciation as his daughter looked surprised and embarrassed once more at losing a charm. She quickly took it and affixed it back on the bracelet before hugging Adryan.

"For such an insignificant reason-"
Hah'en started, turning to look at Adryan, but paused when he showed her the bracelet. She didn't have much time to look at it, but Hah'en had seen a soul gem, and she knew that the bracelet was definitely not Adryan's. It smelled of the lady that had been all over him. This was confirmed by Adryan's words. Anger rose inside Hah'en, and she subtly glared at the thief.

"You-!"
Hah'en yet again started to say, but Adryan left, and Hah'en couldn't immediately go after him. Not without causing a scene, which she would most definitely not do. Now, Hah'en knew that Adryan most probably was planning on messing with her with the bracelet, otherwise he wouldn't have shown it to her. But that didn't change the fact that he had stolen from one of the guests, and it was Hah'en's job to capture individuals who did that. And...
...was Adryan giving the bracelet back to the woman?

This was the first time Adryan had genuinely surprised Hah'en. She had expected something, but this? No, definitely not. Why on Earth would Adryan return it? He'd face the threat of losing his pinkies just to return the bracelet and not even try to mess with Hah'en?
What was wrong with this infuriating confusing man?
The confusion could be seen on Hah'en's face, not clearly but it was there. And in her mind some small part of Hah'en decided, that perhaps Adryan wasn't completely ridiculous and useless.

Adryan was able to get a good look at Hah'en over the shoulders and through the heads of the small group he had fallen in with. She was confused. He understood why she would be. He could have not said anything, kept an extremely valuable relic, and gotten one over on her. But he tossed all that aside. "You clever dog."

Nux was finally catching up to what Adryan was thinking. He had done it to show Hah'en she could trust him when he said something. He obviously had the skills to get things over on even her, but when he talked to her, he told her the truth. It had been that way from the beginning and still was that way. He sent Hah'en a small genuine small before he focused back to the group he was with.

"Oh it was nothing..."

The response was both to the group thanking him for finding the 'family heirloom' and as a remark back to Nux.

Although Adryan's actions perplexed Hah'en she denied herself the luxury of remaining as such. Yes, Adryan had surprised her, and the man had probably seen the confusion on Hah'en's face. That was all that Hah'en was going to give to Adryan, because certainly this had been his goal. To throw Hah'en off her groove.
And he had almost succeeded. That was unacceptable.

Hah'en quickly regained her composure and resumed her place along the wall, keeping an eye on Adryan and the group he was with. The woman was using the bracelet as an opportunity to yet again cling on Adrya, and it was no wonder.
Suddenly, a voice crackled in Hah'en's earpiece.
"Hey Mhu, you're good to go home. Nice job with the pickpocket."
"With only one of them" Hah'en thought to herself, but just said a quiet confimation to her earpiece.

Hah'en waited until she could catch Adryan's eyes again, and when she did she did the smallest head tilt towards the side hallway she had dragged him in. Then Hah'en moved from her place and went straight to said hallway, as it also lead to the dressing room where she had left her things. When she entered the hallway Hah'en purposefully slowed her steps, giving Adryan time to catch up to her if he saw her sign.

The family seemed as if they had their fill of the Gala. They had begun to say their goodbyes as Adryan had noticed Hah'en signal him towards the hallway she had him pressed up to the wall in earlier. The timing couldn't have been better.

The older lady started by giving him a small hug with a big smile, patting him on the back. Then the older gentleman took his hand in a firm handshake. One hand shaking and the other clasped up against his shoulder once again. The two of them turned and began to head to the door.

"Come along Ali dear."

The younger lady delayed as they left, smiling to Adryan a bit. She slipped him a note that had her number on it and hugged him. She gave him a small kiss on the cheek as she blushed and quickly caught back up with her family. "Ugh finally...."

"You're telling me..."

Adryan shook his head and turned towards the hallway that Hah'en was waiting for him in. Moving quickly he was able to catch up to her.

"Well this is a first...you actually wanting to see me?"

Hah'en didn't thankfully have to wait for long before Adryan appeared, having managed to shake off his company for the night. It was wise of him not to take that young woman to a hotel, or worse, a dark corner. If she was from high society there would likely be strings attached to such an affair.

Hah'en didn't look at Adryan when he spoke, instead with one quick movements she grabbed his shoulder, pushed him face-first to the wall and took a firm grip from both his pinkies, effectively holding them in a way that if Adryan moved he'd twist them in a very painful way.
"And if I called you here to make you pay for nearly breaking your pinky promise?"
Hah'en asked in a low, slightly evil voice, and squeezed said pinkies bit tighter.
"You really like to play games, petty thief, but I assure you that my patience does not run as deep as you think."

Well, after a while of letting Adryan squirm in her hold Hah'en let him go and took a step back. She looked at the man with a neutral expression for few moments before speaking again.
"Unlike you, I am honest, and I will say that you managed to surprise me tonight. Whether it was to mess with me, or to try and gain my trust, I don't care. But..."
Hah'en held out her hand, like the women out in the lights on the dance floor were doing to their partners. She raised one brow slightly, as if asking 'Well? Aren't you going to dance with me?'

"Not again." Very quickly, Adryan found himself face first up against the wall. This was becoming a routine. She grabbed his pinkies and twisted them in a way that sent enough of a pain through his arms that he didn't want to move for fear of them snapping.

"Hey hey watch the face please..."

Even while being in a terrible position against an obviously superior fighting opponent, Adryan found sarcasm from somewhere and brought it out. Her threat came and fell empty on his ears. Adryan knew enough about her that she wouldn't do it.

"I didn't break it so we both know you won't."

Even as he said it he grimaced as she twisted his pinkies tighter. Finally she let go. He grabbed his hands in each other and rubbed them as he turned to face Hah'en. His hazel green eyes taking her in again as she spoke matter of factly to him. "What's this?" Nux had noticed her stance just before Adryan did.

"I...don't know....I mean...."

A rare thing happened. Adryan stumbled over his words. He had initially been responding to Nux, then realized it might be taken as he didn't know if he wanted to dance with her. Then found himself struggling and then simply stepped up to her and took her hand.

For a moment Hah'en thought Adryan would refuse her offer, which was fine by her, honestly. She was doing it because Adryan had suggested this, she lost nothing if he had been joking or didn't feel like dancing anymore. But Hah'en had to admit, the way Adryan stumbled in his words was unlike him, and...made a small smile tug at Hah'en's lips. Perhaps she should find more opportunities to surprise him and make him do it again.
But eventually, after few moments, Adryan took Hah'en's hand and Hah'en gave a small accepting nod.

Hah'en stepped close and in knowing, almost instinctive, movements settled in the standard dance hold. She wasn't nearly as close as that young woman had been, Hah'en left breathing room between them. Her hand settled delicately on Adryan's shoulder, and she raised a brow at the man.
"I certainly hope you won't stutter in your steps like you did in your words."
Hah'en said, not exactly teasing or mocking him, her tone was leaning more towards...playful. But it was very subtle.
