They had to take the stairs because obviously the elevator wouldn't be working. The stairs weren't in the best shape, wobbly and seemingly ready to cave in. Eliana jumped over any weak points as she made her way to the top floor.
At least, her penthouse hadn't taken the extreme water damage the way the bottom of the compound had, but her glass windows were broken in, and her items had been tossed around. It looked like someone had rummaged around. Maybe they did. There had been thieves during the tsunami.
Mal rolled his eyes a bit at her comment about chaos, probably a demon thing but she did have a point. "I'm not sure about pure chaos, but there is beauty in destruction. A beginning for every end, a cycle, like a phoenix, burns itself out when it grows old and is reborn from the ashes."
After following Eli up a few stairs, Mal had an idea before he followed her up all the way. When they reached one of the landings Mal created a metallic disk, nothing fancy just a flat, circular piece of metal with room to stand on. He stood upon it and levitated a few feet in the air to make sure he could do this. He'd offer Eli a ride up to the top, probably quicker and safer, if she'd decline he'd stay on it and follow behind her.
Mal looked around her once beautiful penthouse, the location of their first actual date, but now it brought only distaste considering it's condition. Mal made a noise of disgust as he surveyed the area, dispelling his disk to stand on the ground, "Looks like looters were here, scavengers steal when they know that the law doesn't apply to them in times of crisis. I think we should look around and see what's left, and in one piece."

When Mal dispelled the disk, and a flourish of beautiful blue petals surrounded them, Eli pouted, not letting him go. "I liked the disk. We should keep riding on the disk. What if we...I don't know, fall through the floor or some shit?" Eliana just wanted to fly around. She felt like the Green Goblin on that thing. Wicked.
The demoness wasn't broken up about her apartment or things ransacked. She hadn't had anything worth sentimental value around here. Eli had learned a long time ago to leave sentiment behind. There always came a time, like this one, where everything would be snatched away.
Mal chuckled a bit at Eli's want for the flying disc, " Well, you do make an excellent point, I should start doing that more anyways. It's pretty fun."
Mal would summon the metal disc back under them, threading his arm around Eli's waist to support her as he hovered it through her destroyed and looted apartment. It was a sorry sight for anyone that had owned it or had anything of sentimental value in their home, as he doubted Eli had.
He floated through the living room, past the couch and where the tv would have been from their second date. "So anywhere you think we should check out?" He was steering this thing like Static Shock so but he needed some direction.

Part of Eliana was sad about the apartment, yes, more so that it was one of Beth's investments than because she was sentimental. The demoness could have been considered materialistic by people with short sight. To be fair, while Eli loved things she did not often miss them once they were gone. If she missed all the things, she had lost she would not have made it as long as she had.
She looked at Mal and gave his cheek a light, reassuring kiss. "I feel like you're more upset by this than I am. It's all just stuff, Mal."
"Aye aye captain" Mal said with a light tone, directing the metal disc down the hall and into Eli's room, he glanced at the broken windows showing the patio as they went by, a bit of a sad sight.
A small grin spread across Mal's face as Eli pecked him on the cheek, he pulled her closer. "Honestly it's not the stuff that I'm upset about. It sours my mood to see places I have a connection to in one way or another sullied like this."
He'd sigh softly, "People aggravate me, memories are eternal but there's something to be said about places as tokens."

Eli sighed and stood, leaning against Mal again as she clutched the booklet close. "I suppose you're right. I won't fault you for holding places in your heart. You have that right. I used to, too, but when you live long enough most things lose their luster. Hey, if you turn out to be long living, don't lose whatever it is you have going on in that cute head of yours."
Eliana took another look around, face a hint pinched. "Want to get out of here?"
Mal pulled Eli close, taking note of the book and making a mental note as he started navigating the disc out of the destroyed bedroom. He'd chuckle a bit at her statement, "I'll have to make sure I don't lose my mortal side then."
He considered that for a moment though, what kind of effect immortality would have on his mind. If he would change dramatically or still stay relatively the same, how much of him would be taken down as the world changed around him. It was an interesting though, he pondered how Eli had changed from who she used to be and who she is now as the years tolled on her. From her stories that Mal has heard she seems relatively the same.
He snapped back from his tangent of thought as she spoke, "Yeah, that sounds good to me. Anywhere you want to go?"

"Malvoes," she lilted, voice light and bubbly like she'd drank a bottle of wine. She moved more smoothly now, limber and free. The only thing that mattered from her home was saved. Nothing else mattered right now.
"Let's go somewhere high. See the damage? Or can you only barely levitate us? I'd love to be on one of the super tall buildings!"
Malvoes would gain a warm smile, kissing the forehead of Eli for snapping him back to reality. "I swear you can read my mind occasionally." He jokingly said this but it wasn't too far fetched of an idea, considering what some of the people on this island can do.
He smiled, he was happy to comply, anything for Eli. "I think I can go higher, I've actually never tried this, but it's not too difficult actually."
With that Malvoes maneuvered the disc out through the balcony and over the road, steadily increasing the height as he traveled over the city road immediately out from Eli's penthouse building. Interestingly enough doing this was not too hard of a task, he definitely felt it on his abilities but they feel like pressure than an actual weight or task that he needed to do. Perhaps it was due to the fact that there wasn't too much weight between the two of them, or maybe his control over his abilities was better.
By now they were well above the top of Eli's building, he brought the disc over to another skyscraper of sorts, one that looked fairly stable. The view was impressive from up there, all the destruction and chaos below, sprawled out from above, it was almost surreal.
