"Amazing how I haven't been here before."

October opened the door to the school and looked outside at the lawn. She smiled, looking at the snow. She jumped outside and closed the door behind her, knowing quite well that jumping outside instead of just walking was somewhat childish. But, oh well; she liked snow, she couldn't help it. Being an ice elementalist could be so very fun sometimes!!

She looked around, and started walking around, kicking at the snow somewhat, that smile still on her face. She could care less if her shoes and the bottoms of her jeans were getting somewhat damp. Her hands were stuffed into the pockets of her black coat, and she thought back to when she had first arrived here. She couldn't remember being anywhere on the grounds... the other places she'd been were inside, mostly hanging around the third floor, other places occasionally, and then the city once. Huh, amazing how I haven't been out here before... she thought to herself.

The thirteen-year-old kept walking around randomly, sometimes walking around in circles, but not really caring. She was having fun!

Nikki didn't really know what to do. She had never felt so confused in her life. At least when she thought that Arima was dead, she could have some closure. Right now, with the realization that her best friend was alive, but didn't know her, didn't remember anything, tore her to pieces.

And so she stood in the snow, staring at nothing, simply looking at blank space, eyes looking but not seeing as she allowed her mind to wander anywhere but the present. Her hands idly twisted a strand of hair slowly into a braid, mind wandering, until somebody disturbed the silence.

It was a girl, a bit younger than her, playing in the snow. Somehow, it made Nikki smile. It was nice to see somebody happy, enjoying life the way it was supposed to be enjoyed. She continued to smile, watching the girl have fun, not making any move to make her presence known and stop the girl's fun.

October continued to play around, until she ran out of breath. She smiled, though, and coughed quietly for a moment, trying to catch her breath. She wanted to stay out here... who knew, maybe some poor, unsuspecting person would come along later and she could start throwing snowballs at them. Snowball fights were always fun.

She looked up, and as she did so, she caught the sight of red hair out of the corner of her eye. She blinked, and turned her head fully in the direction of where she'd seen the color, and looked at the older female. She seemed to be smiling at her, and the thirteen-year-old's cheeks turned somewhat pink, wondering if the young woman had been watching her, and if so, for how long she had been doing so.

She looked away for a moment, cleared her throat, then looked back at Nikki with somewhat of a smile as well. "Um... hello there," October said to her.

Nikki was aware that she probably made the girl feel uncomfortable, so she just pretended that she hadn't been watching for very long. "Hi. I'm Nikki." she continued to smile introducing herself from her position, making no move to approach the girl.

She'd learned a long time ago that not approaching people was the best way to make them feel comfortable was to allow them to approach her in the way they felt was best. So she just waited.

"Hi. I'm Nikki."

The thirteen-year-old nodded as the older female said her name. "I'm October," she said. "Nice to meet you." She smiled again, unsure if she should continue playing around or if she should walk over to the older girl. She didn't exactly want to be watched as she played in the snow, even though she usually didn't really care what other people thought. It would just feel... well, weird, with someone watching her. So, she decided she could stop for a while to talk to the older girl.

The girl walked over to Nikki, though she didn't say anything until she was standing about a meter or so away from her. "So... what are doing out here?" October asked, not being rude at all, just asking out of curiosity. Her head tilted to the side somewhat, waiting for a response.

Nikki grinned honestly at the girl as she stooped to pick up some snow, which she incedentally didn't feel, uand began molding it into a ball. "The same thing you were." she replied, launching the snow ball at the younger girl. The snow ball was aimed for the girls shoulder, and because of the distance, there was a chance for the other girl to move.

Nikki found that the best way to get over confusion and pain was to avoid it. A snowball fight counted as a distraction.

An eyebrow raised somewhat when Nikki leaned over to pick up the snow, and especially when she said she had been doing the same exact thing. Then she realized what the older female was doing.... it had taken a while, but oh well. October barely moved out of the way in time so that the snowball wouldn't hit her, though if it had, she wouldn't have minded much.

I suppose I was that poor unsuspecting person... she thought to herself with a smile as she quickly ran a few meters away, just to put some distance between then. She picked up her own snow, and quickly patted it into a ball. She threw the snowball at Nikki, then started working on making more snowballs.

Nikki didn't move when October launched a snowball at her, and simply phased through it with a grin. Not that she'd do that with every one. She just did it with that one. She stooped to mold more snow balls as well, and after getting three done, she launched one at October, ducking down to make more.

October blinked when the snowball went straight through Nikki, confused. How could she have done that? Well, unless it was her power. She was guessing the older female could go through things... this was certainly going to be quite an interesting snowball fight, that was for sure. The girl quickly picked up one of the snowballs she had just made a moment before and threw it at Nikki, wondering if she would phase through it this time, dodge it, or get it. Not like it mattered, it would still be fun either way.

The snowball Nikki had thrown at her hit her right on her shoulder. She laughed, though, throwing a second snowball at her as if it were payback.

Nikki allowed the snow ball to hit her with a solid thump, and she smiled, ducking the second one that the younger girl had launched at her. She returned fire, laughing. She may have been 17, but she didn't care. She loved snow ball fights. She'd been contemplating it the whole while she was watching the other girl, but had decided to hold off until the other had noticed her.

"How old are you?" she asked in a conversational matter as she chucked another snow ball in the direction of October.
