Live froze for a second as Desmond moved closer to her. She stared into his eyes for a moment, but it was a very awkward exchange because from this distance, Des would definitely be able to see it.
The grayness and the exhaustion.
Live's eyes were the color of gray from black and white movies and were what gave her the emotionless and moody expression. Her eyes looked worn down and tired. It wasn't easily seen under all the black makeup smeared around and the deep colors she had put on with eyeshadow. She only used makeup on her eyes though and never used foundation for fear of causing acne, but it definitely added to the memo look Des was talking about.
When you came as close to her face, and her eyes, as Desmond was, you saw that the well done makeup wasn't just because Live liked to do her makeup, it was to hide something. Because without makeup, Live felt less able to keep from looking human and tired. Why she didn't like looking like these things was a very long story..
But she froze not because of how she looked but because of how Desmond looked. His eyes were the same as hers. The tired and dreary look, the deep bags from lack of sleep..all of it. For just a second Live didn't feel so alone.
But any moment of softness Live felt was pulled away when Desmond grabbed her cheeks. She knew they had been kind of flirting, or at least Des had, but it still shocked her when he touched her face and offered for her to stay the night.
"Uh.." She said shrinking back from him a bit, and pulling her face out of his hands. She felt a weird shiver go up her spine as she searched for a response..damn she was really high.
She glanced around the van and then at the clock. It was late, but not as late as Live usually was up. She still had another hour plus before she would be even close to getting tired. She didn't want to go back to her room but it was freezing outside. Her mind rambled through her options for a moment before finally responding.
"Can I just stay here for an hour or so? I want to finish my drawing..." She said looking down at her paper. It looked like it could be finished but Live looked dissatisfied as her eyes narrowed and jaw clenched slightly.
