Anna drifted in and out of consciousness. A voice reached her ears and she looked over from the television to see that Sarah had finally woken up. She looked like she was hurting, too. The pain had been dulled by the morphine, but Anna still felt stiff and it seemed that it was hard for either of them to move.

"I've been better," she replied, her voice also hoarse and weak. "Wish I could say I've been worse, but this is about it."

She shook with stress, trying not to think about the accident, and all the trauma that came with it. Tears welled in her eyes. "I thought I was going to die...Just like..." she choked up, unable to get the words out. Like her family.

Sarah raised her arms in front of herself, closing and opening her hands. The arms themselves were a little misaligned in some places, but her fingers looked fine, but she shouldn't be handling anything delicate yet. "Look at it this way. At least it wasn't any worse." She lowered them to her side again, with her hands resting on her abdomen.

She turned her head towards the girl again when she mentioned that she thought she was going to die. Strangely, that was Sarah's thoughts too, that this young girl she just met a couple of days ago would die. That would have just been fate taking a worn out rag and beating it. To lose someone just as they became friendly.

But she sympathized with what Anna was feeling. That was what she felt when her own creations were used to take everything from her. The fear of losing one's life, no matter the situation, was a heavy subject for anyone who went through a near-lethal event. All Sarah could say was: "..."

Nothing.

She wanted to say that she shouldn't be thinking about it, but she knew how impossible that was. That event would stick with her for the rest of her life. Sarah knew that personally, having been subjected to a traumatic event that lead her to where she was now.

"Please calm down, Anna. If you cry, I will get up and awkwardly comfort you until you feel better." Sarah managed a little giggle, knowing that she was going to have to back up that threat. However it wouldn't last long as her chest still ached.

Sarah stared at the ceiling in thought. "Listen... I know it's hard to stop thinking about the accident, but try to distract your mind from it. You might be stuck here for a while, and you don't need the stress that gives you."

Anna nodded solemnly, her throat too tight to speak. She took in a gasp of air, letting it out slowly with a small hiss of pain that breathing caused her. The morphine worked well to mask the pain from her injuries, but when it wore off, she could feel how much she was hurting again, and it hurt pretty bad.

She glanced back up at the TV that was playing Family Feud across the room. Top six answers on the board. We asked one hundred people... Anna didn't really want to watch television, but it was the only thing in the room making noise other than the heart rate monitors that were beeping out of sync with each other, hers was slightly faster than Sarah's, likely from her own mental distress.

"I keep seeing clips of this show on Facebook, but I've never really watched a whole thing before," she said absently, trying to focus on anything else but her own thoughts. This was hard. After a few minutes, a nurse came in to check on them, bustling around quietly and writing some things down on a clipboard, and then leaving as quickly as she had come. Anna stared at the door and wondered briefly how long she'd be here.

"I haven't watched TV in a long time," Sarah admitted. After the 'incident' she wasn't really in the mood for any of it. Sure while she was in the hospital, the TV was on and she clicked through different channels, but after that there wasn't a lot of time to waste on those things. She just worked and sometimes overworked just to keep her mind distracted.

"What shows do you like to watch? Maybe it's on." She found the 'Call Nurse' button by her side. Sarah didn't know where the control was, and guessed that it might be somewhere out of reach, or maybe it was with Anna. If neither of them could find it, Sarah would just summon one of the nurses to change the channel.

She couldn't deny that her eyelids felt heavy, but she knew it was just her body being exhausted, and maybe her blood levels aren't back on track yet. Whatever the case, she might be falling back asleep unless she found something to keep her awake. So far, this conversation was doing well enough.

Anna shrugged, but the movement was likely too small for Sarah to notice, so she added, "I dunno. I don't really watch a lot of TV. I mostly watch Netflix on my computer when I have the time. I just watched Moana for the first time a few days ago, it was really good." She was rambling, but this was a situation in which she probably should ramble.

She looked away from the TV, and her eyes found the window. Bright sunlight was streaming through the sheer curtains that hung closed in front of the glass. She couldn't see any details of the outside world through them, so she lost interest and looked down at the thing that was clipped to her finger. Probably shouldn't touch that, it would mess with the heart rate monitor, she was pretty sure. "I wonder," she paused to try and stifle a yawn, but it came out anyway. "I wonder how long we'll have to be here..."

Moana.

That title sounded familiar.

Yeah, she saw a couple of ads for that when she clicked through the channels. It was made by Pixar and Disney, weren't they? She loved the movies they made. "I need to watch that, and probably every movie I missed since Toy Story 2." Why hadn't she thought about doing that until now? Amazing what you can forget when you bury yourself with work.

Sarah looked at the calendar on the wall, and then to the clock just above it. With the former item unmarked, she didn't know. "If we're lucky, maybe just a couple of hours, but we might have been here for a day or two."

Anna smiled a little, "Maybe we should have a Disney movie day some time." She would catch Sarah up on all the Disney and Pixar movies she hadn't seen. She had a good majority of them on Netflix, or downloaded somewhere onto her computer. Sure, most people saw them as kids movies, but Anna liked them.

The same nurse from earlier stepped into the room. Anna looked up at her. "How long are we gonna be in here? I'm just wondering," she asked the woman who smiled sympathetically and looked down at her clipboard. "Looks like...Miss Sarah should be ready for discharge in the morning. Unfortunately, Miss Anna, you'll have to stay here a little longer until your ribs are a bit better, at least." "Okay...thanks," she sighed, and the nurse disappeared.

"You'll come and visit me, won't you? It's going to be boring in here all by myself," she glanced over at Sarah. "I should probably call my boss..." she wondered if her cell phone had survived the crash. She looked around and saw her dress folded up and lying on a nearby dresser, someone must have washed it. Her phone was sitting next to it. The case around it looked pretty beaten up, but she was willing to bet that the device itself was unharmed. She was immediately glad that she'd gotten a protective case for it. "And my brothers. And Nix and James," she added. They'd probably all want to know what had happened.

"I'd like that," she said in response to having a Disney movie day. That sounded fun. She guessed that just meant they were going to marathon all the movies, but having been so far behind all of them, Sarah would be lying if she said she wasn't looking forward to it. Although that did mean she would be holding off on watching them until that time, the wait would be worth it. Besides, its better than watching it by herself.

When a nurse came in, Anna asked how long they were going to stay there. Sarah was apparently good to go in the morning, which made sense since her implants would have mitigated much of the damage from the crash, although it didn't stop from hurting so much. Unfortunately, Anna didn't have the same luxury. With a broken leg and possibly a few more broken ribs, she was to stay there a bit longer, though the nurse didn't say for how long.

Anna turned to her and asked if she would visit, to which Sarah replied by saying, "Of course. I probably won't be allowed to work for a while so I'll keep you company." Speaking of bosses, she probably needs to let her boss know what happened too. Hopefully, someone had already done that, the company's emergency contact was on the back of her ID, but she needed to remember to call them herself in case no one looked through her belongings, which she sort of hoped no one did now that she thought about it. She better not find anything missing...

Anna smiled a little and sighed, "It's so boring in here. I wish there was more to do aside from...television and sleep." She glanced around and saw that the remote to the tv was within reach. Anna moved slowly to avoid hurting herself as she reached out and picked it up. She clicked through the channels to see what else was on, but nothing caught her interest.

"So, like...you never really told me what you do. You know, for work?" Anna said absently as she left the television on some kind of crime show and turned the volume down so they could converse. She'd always wondered what Sarah did for a living, since she wasn't in school or anything.

Sarah was inclined to agree. Being in a hospital was not the most jubilant of situations, and since her mind wasn't focusing on getting back at someone this time around, it was going to be a little dull to be sure. But at least there was someone pleasant she could talk to that wasn't a nurse or doctor. She had no problem with those people, but sometimes they could be a little bit overbearing. She could only imagine how they'll be if they found out about her sleep schedule.

"Work? I guess I haven't mentioned that to you yet. Well, right now I'm working as a scientist for NexGen's Intergalactic Wing. But before this, I was already developing technologies for other private organizations." There was some pride in her words. She was still proud of what she had accomplished even if those that benefited from it weren't the friendliest. Because in the end, she was in it for herself. The people she worked for just gave her the tools and funding to be better at what she wanted.

"How about you? Are you currently working part time?"
