
Anna drifted in and out of consciousness. A voice reached her ears and she looked over from the television to see that Sarah had finally woken up. She looked like she was hurting, too. The pain had been dulled by the morphine, but Anna still felt stiff and it seemed that it was hard for either of them to move.
"I've been better," she replied, her voice also hoarse and weak. "Wish I could say I've been worse, but this is about it."
She shook with stress, trying not to think about the accident, and all the trauma that came with it. Tears welled in her eyes. "I thought I was going to die...Just like..." she choked up, unable to get the words out. Like her family.
