James noticed Luke looking at the tentacle, "don't mind it, it's just my shadow magic, it does that sometimes." Chuckling he took another sip of his soda, "I'm so used to it now."

"Oh nothing really, I just enjoy it," he said, answering the question. "Sorta realized during gym class that I enjoy it," he was naturally athletic, so he'd put muscle on fast.

"Have you liked the island so far?" he asked stretching a bit more, his body was easing down a bit. "I didn't even know the supernatural was real before I got my powers."

The Shadow sorta, mentally jolted awake, the entity's dream having turned into a nightmare.

"Yeah, the Island is really nice. A little warm for my liking, but nice. I've met a few people..but I haven't gone to the beach yet...I hear it's nice though.." He ended awkwardly, not sure on how to continue his sentence. Luke found his shoes very interesting and couldn't bring himself to meet Jame's eyes. "Why are you so damn awkward all the time..It shouldn't be this hard for you to talk to someone!"

He shuffled in place for a moment before he stopped suddenly. The second emotional signature in the area had shifted suddenly, almost as if it had "jumped". Luke shook his head slightly. "I feel uneasy..but I don't know why. He seems nice enough, even if his power is a bit odd..I feel like I'm being watched.." Luke thought to himself, although he covered his lapse in concentration by speaking.

"Oh! Before I forget, I've been meaning to ask someone if it snows here..but I haven't really made friends with anyone yet.."

"It does," he said nodding a bit, "I arrived back in the fall, so I got to see it." He smiled a bit, "never showed where I came from," Ashton city was on the U.S. west coast, so no snow, "so I loved seeing it."

His gray-silver eyes brightened a bit, he was enjoying talking to Luke, he'd struggled making friends. "Me and my friend made a few snowmen."

He finished his soda, "I'm guessing you came from somewhere cold," he looked to Luke, he'd never been outside Ashton city before coming here, so he was curious about the world.

With his sweat mostly dried or whipped away, he hung his towel on the log next to him. The Shadow stared at Luke curiously, "you're new friend.. seems twitchy Jim. Wait....can he sense me? Like that werewolf that one time?"

"Oh good! I thought I'd be out of luck for snow!" Luke exclaimed, before he realized he had let his elation get the better of him. As he managed to restrain himself from further outbursts, he attempted to cover for it by doing the only thing he knew was safe, continuing the small talk. He shuffled slightly in place before he continued.

"Yeah..I was born in a small village in Norway. Snow is kinda common during the winter months.." He said and chuckled to himself. "There's that feeling again...curiosity? Surprise..It's odd. Not a negative emotion..not sure if it's entirely positive though.." He thought to himself as the second emotional signature popped back into the forefront once again. Luke tilted his head slightly, almost as if he was something a dog attempting to hear a particular sound better.

He shook his head again and scratched the back of his head. "Er..sorry. Thought I heard something..A-anyway, I was wondering, are there any spots with low student traffic? I've found a few of them, but more places to hide out and think would be nice." He said with a thoughtful look on his face.

"Never been to Norway, I'm from California," his tilted his head curiously. "Hope you don't mind me asking, but are you an empathy? Sorry... it's just I ran into one before and they were able to sense the being I share my body with."

He cleared his throat, it was always so awkward trying to explain his powers, "my shadow magic comes from an entity that sort of..... accidentally latched onto me."

Focusing his mind, a sort of cloud of darkness appeared and swirled around his hand, "it's...uh... strange." The Shadow snorted, "it's just as weird for me...at least you have a body."

"So that's what the cause of the interference I was getting." Luke thought to himself. "Uhh..yeah I I'm an Empath..if that's the right word..?" He said uncertainly while his feet shuffled against the grass. Luke glanced around a bit and sighed before making up his mind. "It's not as weird as blacking out every-time you walk into a crowded area. Making friends during my childhood wasn't exactly..easy." Luke muttered before he shrugged to himself and lowered his eyes to the ground.

"In any case, I think it's kinda cool.." He said, almost absentmindedly his mind once again wandering off into unknown tangents.

"You can control it..I can't control my Empathy. It's always active, always giving me feedback on everyone's emotions. It's easy to listen to one, two, or three people at a single time without getting confused. It's when you add a lot of people, things aren't so easy." He mumbled and shuffled again as he recalled the incident shortly before he had run into the Library earlier that week.

"Yea I didn't have many friends before I got here either," hard to make friends when you were to busy stealing to survive, "but that's ok, this island is a fresh start."

"Uh....sort of," the Shadow laughed a bit at the idea of it being controlled. "I can control the magic, which lets me have the tentacles and teleport, but it's sentient, I can hear it talk."

James nodded in agreement, "yea.... I'm bad with crowds too," he instinctively rubbed his left forearm. "I've been trying to be more social, not sure if it's working."
