Sweat dripped down his forehead, he was upside down, balanced on his right hand, on a log. James had always been naturally athletic and strong, it had made him a good thief, now that he was here, with steady food, he could train even more.

In the months sense his arrival he'd put on muscle, muscle now easily seen thanks to the sleeveless shirt he wore. Taking a breath he very carefully switched to his left hand, it had nerve damage thanks to a nasty scar going across the forearm so he wouldn't be able to stay on it long.

All in all, James was quite the site, an attractive young man, training alone.

Finally. Silence. Luke had been wandering through the forest since the early hours of the morning trying to seclude himself from others. He found the silence calming, as he could finally think and not be bombarded by the emotions of everyone else. He pulled his hoodie tighter around himself as he trudged through the underbrush humming tunelessly to himself.

While still being homesick, Luke found that the friends he'd made so far made things better. Even if he wasn't ready to completely open up and connect with them.

As Luke was deep in thought, he failed to notice the other person in the midst of training, and as such, nearly ran into him. With a soft cry of shock and a soft string of expletives muttered in Norwegian, he fell backward. With a soft huff the air left his lungs and he groaned in discomfort. "I-I'm sorry..Wasn't watching where I was going.." Luke stuttered, thoroughly embarrassed that he'd managed to make the most ungraceful entrance in the history of mankind.

James felt something bump into him and the log, he went off balanced, thinking quickly he flipped off the log, landing on his feet. His gray silver eyes looked over at the person who had accidentally collided with him, a boy around his age, maybe a year or so younger.

"You ok?" he asked a little concerned before walking over and offering his hand to help him up. "Don't see a lot of people out here, an occasionally shifter but that's about it," he tilted his curiously, his usually kind but slightly shy smile on his face.

In the back of his mind he could feel the Shadow sorta rolling about in his sleep, or rather his version of sleep. James could look into the entity's dream if he wanted but saw no reason to. "Anyways, I'm James, call me Jim if you want," he said grinning very slightly, he was friendly but a bit shy.

"Y-yeah..I think so.." Luke muttered as he took the other boys hand. He stood up and brushed himself off before getting a good look at the person in front of him. "Damn..he's actually kind of cute.." Luke thought to himself before clearing his head. However, he then noticed he was still holding onto the the other boys' hand, and quickly released his hold. Desperately trying to hide the wonderful shade of scarlet his face had become.

Although during all of this, Luke felt something, it was faint, however it was as if there were two emotional signatures coming from the boy. "Must just be my head messing with me.." He thought as he tuned back in just in time to hear the boy introduce himself.

"My name's Leucos..but most people just call me Luke.." He mumbled, his gaze fixated on the floor. "I-I'm really sorry for running into you..I'm still kind of new here.." Luke muttered once again, puzzled by the lack of anger the boy was showing. "I'm surprised he didn't just flatten me.." He thought to himself.

"Good to meet you Luke and don't worry about it," he said leaning against the fallen log, "I was about finished anyways," he said his small smile on his face. "I like it out here," grabbing his towel from the log he hung it over the back of his neck to soak up any sweat.

James felt a tingle in the back of his mind as the Shadow awoke, "oh....look....a guy," he felt the entity sorta look around. "Meh, was hoping to see another werewolf, unless the guy is a werewolf," James sent thoughts telling Shadow to behave even though Luke couldn't hear him.

"You new to the island?" James asked, turning his attention back to Luke. "If so, welcome to Manta Carlos," normally he was pretty quiet and shy but he'd opened up a bit more recently.

Luke looked up as a puzzled expression crossed his face. Two emotional readouts, one friendly and relatively happy. The other curious. However the second was muted in a way, even though it seemed to be coming from the boy himself. "Asking right now would be rude.." Luke thought to himself as he zoned back into the conversation at hand.

"Yeah..it's nice out here..peaceful." He said as he tapped his foot for a few moment. "I'm relatively new here..I got to the Island around a week ago..It's kind of different from Norway.." Luke said as he trailed off into thought. His mind already turning towards home and the myriad of events that lead to his arrival here.

As he shrugged the thoughts away, he looked up and pushed his hair out of his eyes. Both amber orbs quickly scanned James before returning to the ground. "I-..I should let you get back to practicing..Sorry for interrupting." He said quickly, his accent bled through as he became embarrassed once again.

"Nah, I'm finished," hopping up, he sat on the log and pulled out a soda from his cooler. "Have a soda," he felt the Shadow slip back to sleep, he'd made peace with the entity months ago, but they still occasionally bickered.

James finished whipping the sweat from his forehead, "yea, it's great out here, and it's cool seeing the unique animals they have here."

He tilted his head curiously, "Norway? That's cool," he stretched a bit, a little sore from training, "I'm from California." He took a sip from his soda, "I arrived back in September," he chuckled a bit, "don't worry, you'll adjust to it all."

"Th-Thank you" Luke said quietly blushing as he took the can from James. He winced slightly as the cold metal touched his bare skin, although he suppressed the desire to hiss in shock. "Odd..the other emotional signature disappeared.." Luke thought to himself before he popped the tab on the can and took a small sip.

"I haven't seen many of the animals..I've kinda been hiding out in the library lately.." Luke said as he sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Then again..I haven't talked to many people either." Luke sighed as he leaned back against a nearby tree. It was slight, however Luke began to get a feel for James' emotional state.

Outwardly he seemed happy and content enough, however the amount of repressed negative emotions seemed to have a weight of their own. Luke tilted his head, as he zoned out and began to puzzle out his findings. "I shouldn't pry..It's not my business..but..maybe I could help? No. We just met. It would be weird, not to mention I'd need to explain my cursed family..Ugh, why is life so hard.." Luke bit his lower lip and absentmindedly began tapping his foot against the ground, deep in thought.

Grabbing another soda from his cooler, he opened it and took a sip. "Yea.... I'm not very social really, been trying to change that a bit," he'd been trying to meet more people, get out more. "Normally I'm in the dorms watching TV with my friends," as he talked, a small shadow tentacle appeared on his shoulder and swayed slightly.

"You'll see some unique things here," he chuckled slightly, "dragons, and all that, there's a forest full of weird hybrid animals," he leaned back and stretched, he was still easing down from his workout.

The Shadow sorta grumbled in his sleep, having some strange dream.

Luke stared at Jame's shoulder as the tentacle appeared. He then shook his head as if to bring himself back to reality. "Okay..I need to sleep more..I'm hallucinating now.." He looked about the clearing in an attempt to see if any such "odd creatures" were out and about. "Weird..so far I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary aside from you out here." He chuckled slightly and scratched the back of his neck.

The boy in front of him was certainly interesting. For one he had two emotional signatures, not to mention the vast disparity between the two. It was almost as if there were two different people contained inside him. Mentally shrugging his musing away, Luke took another sip from his can of soda before he spoke.

"So..what are you training for? Erm..sorry if I'm prying..I shouldn't have asked.." Luke stuttered in an attempt to back track in order to avoid offense.
