It wasn't like her.
She'd set everything up, of course - the nice booth near the edge of the courtyard, lined with shade and trees, the organized binders and notes looking for all the world like they were storebought, the soft but upbeat music playing int he background.
Candles, candies, and drinks were available on her table too.
But all of it was only set up today. Not a day in advance, or a week, or even a month. It was only set up, rather hastily, in Aswan's opinion, today. And that meant it would look sloppy in Aswan's eyes. But oh well. That would have to do, especially considering that she'd set it up very late on in the festival.
From her seat at the front of the (admittedly small) booth, she could see a few other students, walking about and chatting.
Hopefully one of them would be interested, at least.

Alana took a deep breath. She glanced around, fiddling with her hair and chewing her bottom lip. It was the first time she'd been in the courtyard and it looked beautiful. Someone was at the booth she wanted but she was afraid to step up.

Come on, you can't be scared of a little social interaction, it's college. Another deep breath and a step forward without thinking too much, and she blurted out, "Hi, um, joining? Study Association?" Her words came out scrambled and disjointed. She tried brushing it off with a laugh. "Sorry, it's just I'm new."

Oh, good. At least someone had come to her rather late booth set-up.
Mustering up some courage to actually speak to the woman in front of her, Aswan pushed herself up from the table and gave the girl a sharp nod and an attempt at a friendly grin. She looked older than Aswan by a lot - but then again, Aswan was stuck being in an immature body. Dying would do that to one. It didn't matter, anyhow.
"Yes, hi," Aswan greeted distractedly, handing the woman a brochure. "That is information about the club - some backstory, what we do here, etcetera." She seemed to pause for a second, shake her head. She couldn't be distracted like this, not at all - especially to a new member of her own club.
Organized, efficient, helpful. Polite. Well, perhaps not overenthusiastic. But still.
"I am Aswan. Feel free to browse through note templates and spreads," she gestured to the table in front of her, "our best study tips, over there" - with a wave of her hand to a nearby notebook - "and our sign-up forms, which are right over here. Oh, and welcome to the Starlight Academy campus."

Alana smiled. "Thanks," She said taking a sign-up sheet. She scrambled around for a pen. Finding her favourite blue Gelly Roll, she held it up. "Is this all right? I'm sure I had a normal black biro," Alana had so many pens now, it was getting crazy, and still she could never find an appropriate one.

Her eyes wandered over the other brochures on the table. She could definitely do with some study tips. There was so much to find out. Alana didn't know how she was going to master her abilities. Different words, different languages... "So what do you study?"

"That's fine," nodded Aswan, rearranging some of the leaflets. "Your pen is well-chosen, by the way - Gelly Rolls were some of my favorites when I was younger." A wistful glance, before snapping back sharply. "In any case. Here, we study everything - from learning new, alien languages, to algebra, to science, and history too. Everything is fair grounds to study for - and our team is talented and knowledgeable, so if you need assistance, one of us will be there to help." Lord, the way she spoke made it sound like she was in a commercial or something of the sort. Which, if Aswan were to be honest, it did feel sort of like being in a commercial - well, it WAS essentially one. She was promoting her club, after all. "We also have study tips for you, and the opportunity to increase your knowledge in general."

"Great!" She beamed. She loved anyone who could recognise different kinds of pens.

She filled out the form, blue ink gleaming. When all that was left was her signature, Alana hesitated. Who am I now?

The thought vanished before she had time to worry about it. Alana signed using her old signature. The one from before. Before magic.

"Great is right," she nodded, surveying the woman's handwriting. How swift it was, how clean it was.... until she came upon the signature box. Aswan noted how she paused a bit, seeming to consider something - and that made her think a little bit. What was the young woman in front of her thinking...? For once, Aswan thought, I would trade my powers for a mind-reading ability. Then I would not have to deal with this idiotic mischief of being de -
The woman signed the sheet in a confident swoop of the pen, and Aswan studied the signature for a second.
"Your name is Alana Haugh.... Haughton," she asked, deciphering the signature, "correct?"
