James

James crept through the deep forest. A bit tricky for him, as stealth wasn't his strong suit, but he still marched on. Following the path Marluxa had shown him the first time they had gone to the ruins, he eventually he saw what he was looking for: A school, one that had been long abandoned.

He took a quick look around, confirming he was alone. The last time he'd been here, he'd almost gotten caught, as the entire place had been locked down like it was a prison or something. Thankfully, he and Marluxa had gotten away unseen. But it was close.

This time, things were different. According to a rumor, security had laxed on the DCA ruins, and they could easily make their way in now. He'd talked to Marluxa, and they'd agreed to meet up just outside the ruins. Now all James had to do was wait for the Alien to make its way here, and they could set off.

Naturally at home among the trees, Marluxa galloped from branch to branch with the speed and grace of feline yet swinging about with dexterity like a monkey. While their coloration makes them stick out somewhat among the treetops, the thick foliage does well to conceal them under the shade of the leaves. With a few licks in the air, they could make out James position among all of myriad of scents that permeate throughout the forest.

"Greet greet friend James!" chittered Marluxa as they climb down one the trees and crawls on over next to James "Ready ready for adventure?"

Marluxa pokes their head through a bush, their ears listening for any disturbances within the DCA ruins. Right now, all seemed quite and unlike last time they could not detect the presence of security nearby.

James

James gave a wave to Marluxa as they approached. "Hell yeah I am!" he said as he waited for Marluxa to finish whatever they were busy doing, hopefully making sure no one else was around them.

After waiting a few moments, he stuck his head through the bush as well, Not seeing anyone else, good. "There's a wall straight ahead, low enough we can probably scale it without much trouble." he said casting a quick look around. Still nothing.

"I'm ready whenever you are." he said, before stretching his legs a little bit. In anticipation of the upcoming run and jump.

"Rhmm! Lets go go!" cried out Marluxa as the gallop over to the wall and leaps on top of it. After a quick scan around Marluxa hangs their tail down, ready to pull James up and over should they need the help.

While the coast was clear, the old academy was in even more disarray than when they last remembered it. All of the buildings where still there was much more foliage about and parts of the buildings have collapsed. The halls Marluxa once knew so well they were going to have to now relearn.

"Marluxa hear nothing nothing. Gym gym used to be just over here here. Now just fallen over in disrepair-pair. Shall Marluxa show James Marluxa's favorite perch perch?" suggest Marluxa as they pointed out one of the taller still standing structures.

James

James took in a deep breath as he followed Marluxa. Sprinting about as hard as he could, he jumped. His hands grabbed onto the top of the wall, allowing him to push himself up and scramble over the wall. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job down.

He took a look around, and to say things looked rough, would be an understatement. Sure, he knew the place wouldn't be well maintained, but between the plants, the destroyed buildings and everything else, this place looked more like a ghost town then a school.

"Yeah, whole place is just.. damn" He took another look around, just taking everything in, before shaking his head. "Sure. Just lead the way, and be careful."

"Marluxa always careful careful." replied the gleed as the leap down with feline grace. Even with the disrepair Marluxa lead James down the memorized path. When arriving to the front door there was caution tape plastered on the door. Marluxa ignored the warnings as they pushed the door open and wanders into the dimly lit halls.

"Phelh! Dusty dusty here." complained Marluxa as the feel the dirt between their fingers, giving it a quick taste and spitting it back out.

"Forward forward! Got to go up up to the stairs stairs!"

James

James tagged along, making sure to follow close behind Marluxa. He was thankful that one of them knew where to go in this place.

Heading into the building, James lit a small flame in his hand, nothing crazy, but just adding a little bit of extra light to help him see his way around the building. This caused a few animals that had been making their home in the old building to flee.

A layer of dust covered almost everything, causing James to cough a little as he walked through the building. Finally he found "Stairs" that Marluxa was talking about. The stairwell was almost pitch black, and the stairs themselves weren't in much better, heavily worn, and looking as though they could fall apart at any moment.

Cautiously, James tried putting some weight on the stairs, only to be met with a loud creaking sound, and something falling, though he wasn't sure what. Letting out a sigh, he called out to Marluxa. "Good news: found the stairs. but they seem to be in bad shape. Any other ways up?"

Marluxa scampers over to the stairs that James was speaking about and inspects. They lay a paw on one of the steps as they listen for the creaking, then look up as they make predator-like clicks.

"Rhmmm... Marluxa know know of elevator nearby... don't know if it will work work..." recalled Marluxa as they start to walk back into the hall "... and more stair stair further down down."

Marluxa first makes their way to the nearby elevator and tested the button. As expected, nothing seemed to have happened. They tried for a moment to pry the elevator door open but they were sealed too firmly.

"Rmmm... next set of stair stairs?"

James

As he went to leave the stairwell, James looked up one last time and saw.. Someone or something, it was hard to say. It was only there for a second, and when he blinked, it was gone. He lingered for a moment before shaking his head, shrugging it off as a trick of the light. They were alone here, right?

Setting off down the hall, he let out a small chuckle as Marluxa tried in vain to get the elevator to work."Yeah, I'd honestly have been surprised if it actually worked." he said, continuing down the hall, until they hit the second stairwell

Taking a look in, he let out an audible sigh of relief. While not in great shape, it still looked better then the first one they'd found. "Well, up we go. See you at the top." He said, setting off up the steps, while making sure Marluxa was following.

Marluxa took Jame's words as a challenge. A challenge that Marluxa aimed not to lose.

"Well well Marluxa won't see see you at top top but Marluxa will beat beat James to top! Then James will be smelly smelly egg!" declared Marluxa, wasting no time as they leap into the railing and climbs their way to the top.

The rusted metal creaked as they support the weight of the Gleed monkeying her way past James. While clearly unssafe, Marluxa was unconcerned as they climbed the railings up like this hundreds of times. As they hoisted themselves over the final set of railings, there was a loud pop. Before Marluxa could react the the railing bars suddenly snapped, causing Marluxa to fall with the several spear-like metal rods.

As gravity pulled them down, Marluxa was able to catch themselves on the next set of railings on the floor just below the top as their tail reached out to grab the falling metal rods. Each of the split ends of the tail where able to scoop up and coil around the falling metal bars but one piece slips just beyond their grasp and falls straight down.

"Ears up up friend James!" cried out Marluxa, warning their friend of the incoming metal projectile.
