"You would have been an amazing scout," Celeste stated, very much seeing him in the role, as she leant over and kissed his cheek, "But I know what you mean. I see it quite often when new students are brought in. We are sometimes warned in advance, but often, you can tell... There's an air about them," she said quietly. "And my heart goes out to them. I can't imagine how family can be so cruel at times," she told Roldan, as she lightly squeezed his arm, more an involuntary gesture of comfort really.

"Your mom sounds amazing," she laughed, "My mom was also a fiery thing, though not like yours," here she grinned at the subtle dragon reference, "She was this independent, crazy force of nature. Though a bit on the overly dramatic side sometimes," Celeste admitted rolling her eyes.

"Little secret not many know," Celeste said as she looked at Roldan while they walked, "Rafael, my father, actually wanted to marry her, but she said no..." she told him, "I'm not a Forestier because of him, but because of her idea that marriage and kids was old-fashioned, stifled dreams and tied people down," she told Roldan, shaking her head at the memory of the fights, the heated discussions about her welfare, she had heard between Rafael and her mother.

"I do too, maybe before Christmas we can do a little something. Go shopping together, or to the tree lighting ceremony or something else, something where nobody feels pressure to stay if they don't want to," Celeste agreed and suggested, trying to be mindful of everyone's needs.
"Yeah, that's my thing. I already have a temper, hard as I work to keep it in check. If I was out there, seeing the firsthand results of a kid being abused..." He gave a small, weak smile and a shrug. "I don't know if I could hold myself back."

Roldan bumped into Celeste playfully, changing the subject and the mood as she did. "She is. Mom is incredible. She was the one who told me I didn't need to have a breath attack to be a real dragon. She taught me how to use my smaller size and my speed to my advantage. And she taught me how to ballroom dance."

Lacing his fingers together with hers, Roldan returned her earlier gesture. Stopping and turning to face Celeste, he leaned forward and kissed her briefly on the lips. "The tree lighting actually sounds perfect. I'm sure we'll all be there regardless, so it's a good neutral ground to take them to."

Celeste glanced at Roldan, very pleasantly surprised, "You can ballroom dance?" she asked, shaking her head at this, "Like the Tango, Foxtrot, Slow Waltz," Celeste said with a grin, amazed to hear such an admission.

"I thought that might be the case," Celeste agreed with a smile, gently touching Roldan's face after he kissed her, when he said he thought the tree lighting ceremony was a good place for their families to meet.

"You know, I have never been to a tree lighting ceremony before," she confessed somewhat embarrassed by the fact, "Though I am excited to attend this one, take the kids too, maybe even start a family tradition," she told Roldan with a hopeful tone.

"Believe it or not, I have never done a lot of these family things before. In fact, I actually have very little idea of being a mother," she admitted softly as she stared out at the water for a second. "It's been all instinctive and just really hoping I get it right somehow." she admitted.

"I'd have never guessed, no. You seem to fall into it so naturally. I guess you've got a good maternal instinct." He grinned a little, not joking but definitely ribbing her a bit. The way she said family tradition and looked at him made him feel like he was being included in that. He didn't know how to feel about that. On the one hand it made him super excited to think about. But on the other he didn't want to jump the gun. "I'm sure the kids will love it. The tree lighting ceremony is always fun."

Looking back towards the bonfire, Roldan gave Celeste a smile and brushed her hair away from her face. "Would it be alright if I kissed you, ah... kinda like we did before?" He bit his lip gently, his eyes searching hers as he waited for an answer. He was of course talking about the kiss they'd shared before at the end of their date.

"Lord, my mother would roll over in her grave hearing you say that," Celeste joked when he told her she had good maternal instincts, not minding at all that he teased her about it. "But yeah, maybe I do, who knows? I certainly didn't inherit it from my mom though," she said with a tiny shrug and smiled back at him.

Staring softly, and happily at Roldan when he brushed her hair out of her face, enjoying the intimateness of the gesture, Celeste nodded at his question, feeling her heart jump a little too at the look on his face. "Of course, you can," she said warmly as she reached out to stroke his jawline with her hand as the memory of their date night kiss came back to her, making her blush somewhat at the thought of it and how it had made her feel.

Roldan didn't need any more permission than that. He leaned forward, pressing his lips hard against Celeste's. His arms laced around her, pushing their bodies close together while his tongue slipped in past her teeth.

One hand trailed up her back slowly so he could tangle his fingers in her hair, holding the back of her head softly. His breath came out short and fast when their mouths parted, only to be stifled again as he redoubled his efforts with the next kiss.

He was starting to heat up, and his skin was slowly oving from pleasantly warm to standing too close to a campfire in terms of temperature. He realized and pulled back, panting a bit and giving himself a second to cool down, both literally and figuratively. He brushed his hands through her hair, checking to make sure she wasn't burned. "Sorry, Cici. I didn't hurt you did I? I didn't mean to run hot on you..."

Celeste closed her eyes a little when she felt Roldan press his lips against hers, relaxing her body against his as she placed her hands flat against his hard chest when he pulled her up against him. Sighing into the kiss, she slid her arms up and around his neck when he kissed her hungrily a second time, parting her lips softly when he pulled back suddenly, she looked at him, unsure of what was wrong.

In fact, it wasn't until he pulled back that she noticed the heat coming off of him. Taking a tiny step back then, she looked at him curiously at first, shake her head. She was fine, but letting him check her out as he lightly ran his hands through her hair.

"I'm fine, Roldan," she rushed to say as she looked at him with a look between touched and wanting to reassure, "You are hot, so warm. I didn't realise..." she stated in wondered as she put her hand softly against his chest, slightly amazed at the temperature difference she was feeling.

"Yeah I sometimes-" he paused, leaning into the soft touch of her hand on his chest and smiling lightly. "When I'm emotional. I heat up. I have to be careful, I could seriously hurt somebody if I get too worked up." And did she ever work him up. Roldan was split; on the one hand ashamed that he was acting like a horny teenager when he was a fully grown man with a career and a daughter. On the other, he liked this feeling too. Not being all responsible and serious and adult, even if it was short lived. Even if he had to come back to the reality that he was a responsible adult.

"I'm glad I didn't hurt you," he said, giving her a much softer, much more chaste kiss on the lips. "You're just gorgeous and you make me feel-" How to put it. It wasn't like he wasn't complete without romance. He certainly was. But he felt lighter and hap[pier around Celeste. Like he could be something besides just a cop. A father. A baby brother. "-you just make me feel really nice. I like spending time with you."

When Roldan stepped closer, leaning into her, Celeste placed her other hand on his chest again. She enjoyed the feeling of him, the warmth he was giving off. Cocking her head a little, Celeste grinned, "So basically, you really are hot stuff?!" she said, teasing him gently as she looked up at him happily.

It was odd, but she kind of felt the same way. It was nice to let loose. Be herself for a change. Lately, with work, the kids and just all the little responsibilities that life threw at her, Celeste had few precious moments to herself, and it was nice, more than nice actually, being here like this with Roldan.

"No, you didn't hurt me," she told him softly, touched by his concern, by the way he cared worried whether he had hurt her or not, "I am made of a lot stronger stuff than that," she told him playfully.

When Roldan called her gorgeous, Celeste lowered her eyes, blushing softly, but very pleased by his heartfelt compliment. He was always surprising her with his compliments, with the way he was with her, his attentiveness, his awareness of her children and their needs, everything. Celeste had to admit that she falling hard and fast for him. She could easily see letting him in and being an important part of her life.

'I love spending time with you too..." she told him, gazing up at him warmly as she leaned up against him comfortably, "I have to confess that I am glad it was you who brought Shale home that day." she said referring to the day they had first met. "I'd never have met you if you hadn't," she said softly, the realization of how fate had been set in motion that day making her smile.

Roldan smiled right back and stroked Celeste's hair away from her face. Leaning forward again, he planted a pleasantly warm kiss on her forehead. She was right. It was a random event that had brought them together, and he hoped that they would stay together. "That's pretty crazy, yeah. I'm not glad Shale got in that fight but I am glad I was the one to take him home. You're an amazing woman, Cici."

Taking her hand in his, Roldan started walking again. The night was nice and cool, and he kept his heat at bay so that they could feel the crispness together. The cold wasn't something he had been able to enjoy with Narraine. She had needed constant warmth to stay healthy. "So what are your plans for November? The Pirate's Feats is a big time for my family. We always go all out making food for it. And there's the Carpe Noctem festival. It's, well. Last year's was kind of bad. But we dealt with it well enough." He absentmindedly touched his shirt over the spot where he'd gotten hit by that floating skull. He was still kind of self conscious about the scar it had left.

Taking Roldan's hand in hers, Celeste intertwined her fingers with his as they walked along the beach, the water lapping the sand as the tide slowly started coming in, the cool water wetting their feet and toes lightly as it flowed in and out.

"I don't know yet if I'm honest," Celeste said as they walked together comfortably, "I heard about it a few days ago, one of the other teachers mentioned it," she told Roldan as she brushed away a stray piece of hair that blew into her face.

"I don't really know too much about either festival," she admitted sheepishly. "Both of them will be my first, well, the family's first time at either." It was true, all of them from Ebvion to Shale, herself and Azure, they were all relatively new to the island and its traditions. Although, so far Celeste had to admit she had enjoyed each and everyone she had been to so far.

"What was last year like?" Celeste asked curiously, having noted the bad and dealt with it comments and wondered what he had meant.
