Smokey looked ridiculous as they leaned on Baeye and moved through Lehora. Walking was the worst part about this entire change with their humanoid, now called human, form. Right now, Smokey had no interest in taking their full human form. They kept their ears, feathers, tail, and the rest of their feature. The only difference was now the fur on their legs were gone and they had legs of a human than a combination of a deer and owl.

Smokey and Baeye had agreed that, since they were two of the few Lightning and Smoke brema (teenagers) they would assist each other with walking. Lehora was picked specifically for the places they could sit down and grab something to eat. At least others in the city were struggling too, so no one could look at them like they were being ridiculous.

A large groan was released out of Smokey. "Wanna get something to eat?" They paused when an oricenta tripped a few feet in front of the two, then shakily pulled themself up and kept on their way. "I'm in the mood for toast. I'm getting tired of tripping and feeling silly."

Baeye wasn't exactly having a fun tine with this. They were getting frustated with this sudden change of things. Just like Smokey, they opted to keep mostly everything and just changed their legs.

They were curious. Human legs seemed so odd and foreign to them and it was well...it did excite them a bit. "To learn how the humans walk." They stated as they looked down at their legs. Yep. Still looked weird...they had long legs too.

"Snrrk" Baeye tried to hold in a laugh as they noticed another oricenta trying to adjust to this new change. She then however immediatly straightned up. Baeye couldn't judge she would also be struggling like that if Smokey wasn't here.

"Hey at least you don't have a long trip to the ground. Meanwhile I got a bit to go before I-" And speak of the devil, Baeye's managed to trip over themselves. They didn't fall however as they managed to regain their balance and began to laugh away the growing frustration.

"Let us go get toast then! We can take a break and eat."

Smokey was thankful Baeye accepted the offer. Both of them were frustrated. Sure, it was fun learning how to walk again, but it was embarrassing too. Who could blame them? They were supposed to be soaring through the skies, not grounded. In fact, Smokey was pulled down with Baeye. Instead of regaining balance at the last second, they awkwardly fell, then got up laughing with Baeye. Not even the scratches and bruises appearing on their body would discourage them.

"You're right. I got it way easier."

Slowly the pair approached a café and entered. It looked busy today, with a lot of people lied down on the floor in their cervitaur form or spread across a chair from exhaustion. Smokey was certain a few were taking naps.

After ordering themself a few (for oricenta) stacks of burnt toast, they relaxed into a chair and gave a long sigh. "Do you ever plan on blending in with the humans? I haven't really been interested, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see how the normal humans lived first-hand."

"And we are...." Baeye looked around the cafe. Crowded. Of course it was. "Here. Must be a really busy day, I guess we aren't the only ones who thought about taking a break."

As Smokey went to go order the toast, Baeye went to go find them a place to sit.

Baeye tilted their head a bit to the left and hummed.

"Blending in? I do not know. Are they even worth the effort? What are humans like anyway?"
Baeye never had any contact with humans before. Most of their information on humans came from books.

"I think it's so if elementalists want to take us to where the normal humans live we'll be all ready. What if you get a guardian who lives in America? You need blend in to meet them, or you have to hide all the time. Smokey understood the reasoning, but it felt like a stretch sometimes. So far, Roa showed no desire to take them to someplace like France or China or whatever. They did fine with their oricenta form on Manta Carlos. There was no need to change.

"And humans... I've only been on Manta Carlos. The place where all the 'supernaturals' co-exist or whatever in hiding. There's a lot of humans there and they're..." Smokey had to take a few seconds to think about that. In the meantime, they took a bite of their toast. There were many ways to describe the humans there, and Smokey didn't lean a particular way about them. "A mixed bag. I think their culture is really confusing. Like, people got weirded out that my guardian pets me. Oh! And dating's so boring there sometimes."

"Ah."
Right. How could they forget about needing to actually blend in with the non supernatural world. Oh right, Baeye could honestly careless about it. The people who live in it always sound like boring ol humans who can't handle a little magic without shitting themselves scared.

"Mixed cultures huh?"
Then a smile slowly crept onto their face.

"Different cultures is good! That means there is more stuff to learn and more chances to encounter something new and special." Baeye nodded to themselves. They figured the more diverse means the more chances they have to discover some cool artifact. #YiimuLogic

"You already have a guardian? That must be wonderful." A guardian. Getting a guardian was one of many goals Baeye had in mind for when they got to the island. Surely if Smokey can get one then Baeye can. It can't be too hard right?

Well considering what Baeye wants in a guardian, it could take awhile to find the perfect one.
"What is your guardian like? Are they strong and brave? Smart? What is their favorite color and snack? Do they like hunting too?" Yep. A shitload of questions right off the bat.

Smokey knew that would get a smile on Baeye's face. Their talks of humans, different species they've met, and nearly anything they encountered on Manta Carlos made them the center of attention. Mostly with the younger oricenta who haven't left the island yet or have only done it a few times. The older ones would add to Smokey's stories with their own little trivia.

"Yeah! His name is Roa Asiel. He's a wrath demon and patience angel and he's really nice and cute. He's strong, brave, and smart. His favorite color is green and his favorite snacks are honey buns. He's not really a hunter, but we spar a lot and we're known as a powerful tag-team in our power classes. I'm a bit worried we rushed into things but—" There was no holding back now. Smokey squirmed and hid their face in their hands, giving an excited and quiet squeal.

"I can tell he misses me and that he's a little more bored without me. It makes me really happy. I can't wait to surprise him with the new stuff I can do now. We'll be an even greater team."

"Powerful tag team though? That's..." Baeye took a moment to think and listen to Smokey. They could tell that the bond between Smokey and this Roa person was strong. It had to be, like, Smokey knew all those things already and probably more.

"To see such a strong bond that you have with him is encouraging. Finding a gaurdian has never been my main focus but...."

Baeye let out a huff and then folded their arms. "You are making me a bit jealous. Just a bit." Baeye let out a quick laugh.

"Which just makes me want to find a guardian better than yours!"

Smokey spent every second analyzing Baeye's expression as they spoke. It was great! They loved seeing people's reaction to them getting a guardian. That they were so accomplished already, that they were too young, that Roa sounded nice, that he sounded scary. Both negative and positive commentary added to Smokey's pride.

"I don't know if you can find a guardian better than mine, but I hope you find one! I bet I can help hook you up. I met a lot of elementalists on Manta Carlos, and I helped us get that trade deal with the Drakenhardts. What kind of guardian do you want?"

By now, Smokey was almost done with their toast. This conversation was making them hungry. Or was it all the tripping and struggling of walking earlier? No matter. Finishing their meal was taking a bit longer with how much they were speaking, anyway.

"Puh-lease. I will find one better than yours, just you watch." Baeye quipped on almost i m m e d i a t l y. Was this a competition now? If it was they were clearly already losing.
"Not my fault you cheated and got to leave early."

Baeye huffed again but for different reasons this time.

"W-what kind of gaurdian I want?" Huh. A question Baeye wasn't full prepared for. They had a bit of an idea but was not really sure about what they wanted yet.

"Someone....courageous? Strong....smart.....brave..." Baeye closed their eyes, well fully closed their eyes, and hummed to themselves.

"Someone who is smart and curious. Someone with a strong passion for knowledge and the desire to learn. Someone who can make up for their flaws and will speak their mind." Lot of....someone's here.

"Someone who likes the rainy seasons and more importantly....someone who isn't afraid to go out on adventures." And with that Baeye peeked her eyes open enough just so they can see again. They felt like they explained it enough? There was a few other things they would like to see in this hypothetical perfect gaurdian but Baeye felt like the ones they mentionedcwas the most important ones.
