Finally, a chance to take some time away from all that dreadful paperwork. It was such a boring task, having to fill out form after form, though he could understand why they have to have so much assurance when hiring a crossroads demon. Now that it was all out of the way, he could get down to business.

He gave a big stretch as he closed the door to his office, allowing himself the pleasure of unfurling his wings and allowing his horns to protrude their full length from his head. Much better. The stack of completed paperwork on his desk was quickly tossed into the new shredder he received from a friend, complete with a miniature lava pit inside to further ensure paper destruction. Damien could not help but watch with a slight smile as the pile burned with ease. Such release. With that he sat in his office chair, leaning back into it and summoning a parchment and quill to begin the process of making a syllabus. Best the children know what hell awaits them.

Clearly, they would need to be prompt and prepared, like any other class they would attend, but even more so since it was his. Of course, if they found themselves in need of certain encouragement perhaps he would indulge a few with a few.... amendments. So long as he made sure to include a line of contract secrecy then he would be perfectly fine to manipulate a student or two. Then again, with how these things go there surely has to be someone to completely fail the class, otherwise, the administrators might become suspicious of him. And with that, Lucifer forbid, they would bring a heinous amount of paperwork. No, that would not do. A simple agreement of class courtesy should be just fine.

Hmm... now, what to have for the course.

Perhaps the main focus on Inferno, with an optional book on minor laws. Something to get them thinking. Throw in a few exercises, maybe damn a mortal or two. When should that happen? Hm. The third Friday of each month sounds like it would be perfect. And what about a field trip, two should do it. One to introduce them to the depths of hell and another trip back to truly test their limits.

Alas, it was all coming together. He had already begun to receive enough applicants to schedule a few classes for the next week, although there were a few spots left. Oh, what turmoil and knowledge await them.

The demon began to dream on as he set his feet on his desk and pondered what wondrous chaos would unfold within the coming weeks.

Many people struggled with the complexities of island life, but Havoc had grown to accept it. The island was chaotic, yes, but it had its own rules, it's own laws. Don't trust the fae, but know that most can't lie. Demons come in all varieties. Some are evil, some were not. Even angels could not be counted on to be truly good. Plenty were just as bad as their human counterparts, if not worse. There were no absolutes on Manta Carlos, but there were a lot of experts.

The teacher he was going to see was one such expert. Havoc was not a student any longer, having graduated that spring, but he was still a familiar enough face around the school that no one batted an eye seeing him in the halls. He was still, through a technicality, the vice president of the student council, and would be for at least another month. That gave him free reign as far as the majority of teachers were concerned.

He checked the directory, finding the proper office quickly enough, and then paused in front of it.

Truth be told, Havoc wasn't entirely sure what he was asking for. His job took up too much time to enroll again, especially not for one class. Tips? Hints? A cheat sheet? Or maybe the teacher had some kind of crash course they ran at nights he hadn't heard about.

No matter what, it would be better than nothing.

Havoc knocked briefly at the door. His clothes were simple enough, but his demeanor--serious and heavily military, with no visible emotions--tended to mark him as either an older student, if not a member of the staff.

Oh, the wondrous treachery and debauchery! Turmoil and deception at every turn! Chaos would reign in his classroom! If only the right students would participate...

As the demon sat daydreaming with his feet upon the desk, a thought occurred to him. What mortal in their right mind would take classes from a demon? He did plan to at least teach the students something. All crossroads lead to hell after all, and its no fun to deceive an idiot. No, he made every precaution, but he would have to keep up this charade of learning, as they did mention having the damn instructor testing every so often with an inspector. His subjects would need to present something. He had first thought to check by the local campus enforcement offices for willing participants, but he would need some of the rotten intellects who believe in morals. He would doubt any would just stroll into his classroom.

knock knock

Oh, by Satan, could his sinful desires have been heard? So long as his share of souls isn't expected to be part with, then he supposed...

With one swift motion, Damien slid himself over his desk and pounced at the door, stopping only for a moment to make sure he was presentable. The heavy gateway to his office creaked open as he gave a wide grin.

Oh. Well if this was his goody-two-shoe in disguise then the old pitchforked devil hasn't lost his touch of irony. With his scars and posture, he looked the type to be the head of a gang...

The demon's eyes drifted to the students pants, sporting recognizable logo on the side.

..or perhaps military, which now seemed more likely with the blatant symbol.

"Mr. Larsen, Sir? I came by to ask if-"

"One moment please."

The next thing Havoc new the door was closed on him. Already the professor seemed odd, but then again, what demon wasn't?

Behind the closed door, papers were being shuffled as the demon searched for a very specific notebook. He had made sure to keep track of most of the students here, after all, this was no ordinary school, some of these children were quite capable, and he needed to make sure that he knew what he had on his hands.

"Ah, of course, how could I forget?" Damien spoke aloud as he snapped his fingers and summoned his scripts, whispering to himself.. " Hm. Military, military. Most likely of Chinese descent. Ooh, this seems interesting. Ah, indeed dear Lucifer, you have sent me a gift. I shall thank you later when I have nothing else to do."

The door swung open once more, a rush of air coming from the room. The demonic professor smiled once more as he gave a slight bow in the doorway. His voice matched what one would assume a charming demon would sound like, with his inflections giving a teasing tone at the end of each sentence.

"Ah, yes, my apologies dear Mr. Havoc. A pleasure to meet you, I simply had to finish that last line of paperwork before continuing our lovely conversation. I find it interesting to find the soon to be former Vice President of Student Council standing at my doorstep. Perhaps you still seek to further your education on matters that mortal beings find themselves lacking?"

Havoc was used to routine. He was used to following that routine to the very end, and he really didn't like when it was interrupted. So when he started to greet the teacher, only to have the door slammed in his face? Havoc was put off. His eyebrows furrowed together as he stayed perfectly still, staring at the door which had been closed in his face.

All he wanted to do was ask for some general advice about demonic contracts. Taliesen wasn't a demon, but he was close enough, and all the general principals would still be the same. Contracts were far outside his area of expertise, so he'd specifically sought out someone who would know better than him...

And he'd had the door shut in his face.

Havoc was still a bit stuck on that.

He hadn't actually managed to get over it (at which point he'd probably have left entirely) when the door swung open again, with Damien giving him a bow and acting very much like he hadn't just shut the door in Havoc's face.

Maybe it was a demon thing.

Havoc blinked a few more times, attempting to mentally re-situate himself, and then launched into his pre-practiced explanation as if the entire thing hadn't happened at all.

"Yes," Havoc said. "I am in the position of potentially being involved with a deal that is very similar to a demonic contract, which you appear to be the expert in, so I was coming to seek your assistance on the matter."

It was delivered formally, without a hint of emotion, or even of annoyance at their greetings. He'd obviously practiced the entire explanation, deciding what to say or what not to say.

Wow, what a stick in the mud. There was no doubt this student was rolling over everything in their head before they knocked on his door. Not even a response to closing the door on him for a few seconds. However, Damien did notice that slight tinge of annoyance in Havoc's voice. Or maybe that was just the deadpan tone he always spoke in. Wouldn't surprise the demon, he's heard worse.

Nonetheless, it looked like he was looking for some immediate and temporary assistance, and being that he was moving on, one of his daily classes wouldn't be the right fit.

"Interesting, finding yourself in a bit of trouble?" The demon spoke aloud as he visibly pondered. " I suppose you would be looking for something temporary, and since I can't make a midnight class for just one student, I believe we can work something out, perhaps some personal lessons in my spare time. Now, suppose I do happen to find the time to instruct you outside my classes, I do reckon you might find yourself promoting my class to others, would you not?"

The demon's intent was clear. It wasn't unlike his kind to play around and give strong hints at what they want in exchange for something, and Damien knew exactly what he wanted. Who better to promote the success of his class than the Havoc, former Vice President of Student Council? If he agreed, then everything will fall nicely into place for future endeavors. Perhaps he would even show little Havoc more about the demonic realm, more than would be allowed in his class, or at least noticed. The devil knew he was up to no good but certain rules are easier to break without a watchful eye on him.

"So dear Havoc, consider your options, and take your time, I am sure you are in no rush. If you accept, then I do believe I can finish up a," he paused for a moment as he glanced at his sharp nails, giving a grin as he looked back. "...special syllabus for you."

The deal--informal and verbal as it was--was clear enough. It provided benefits for both of them. He would provide some classes, and Havoc would sing his praises. The fact that Havoc was the student council vice president was obviously something he already knew, and he was hoping to work with Havoc's existing reputation, using it for his own ends.

Havoc didn't really have an issue with that. He saw reputations like currencies, things to be gained and spent. If Damien was truly as good as he seemed, it would be a minimal expenditure for what would likely be great gain. He already had a general idea of what he was asking for, but the wording? That was so much harder, considering how complex his specific wish was.

"No, not trouble," Havoc said. "I am willingly entering into a deal of my own free will, but want to ensure that I don't make any mistakes in creating my deal. A small mistake can lead to serious consequences when dealing with these sorts of deals."

Very, very big consequences. Havoc had no real experience with fae or demonic deals, but he'd seen plenty of people on the island suffering the consequences of it.

"I'll promote your classes in exchange for receiving the classes. I will not lie, but if someone were to ask about my bargain, I would advertise that I received lessons from you which helped me make a better deal."
