The shadow mage would teleport as he went, he'd been greatly enjoying his abilities since they started to change. He could teleport farther, his healing magic weakness was gone and he wasn't limited to shifting anymore, yes he was very much enjoying his abilities.

He'd appear from a cloud of darkness, the wood of the pier underneath him, water all around, his nose twitching as the smell of salt water hit it. Yes, his aim had been right, he'd stretch, silently proud of how well his power training had been going.

Then he heard a yelp and splash, turning he'd walk to the edge and and look down, a red headed girl has fallen in. "Hold on," shadow tentacles would spring from his back and grab onto the pier, lowering himself down he'd offer her his hand, "you ok?"

It was a perfect day for a stroll along the pier. The muggy heat was starting to fade and she didn’t feel like constantly shedding her skin and going for a dip in the water. Swimming had been something she was unable to due since her powers started to appear. She hadn’t swam since she was ten and she didn’t particularly miss it. She was perfectly fine with occasionally running threw the sprinkler when things heated up.

She was blissfully unaware of her surroundings focusing in the steady stream of colors that were normally in her sight. She was never calm enough to focus on how pretty the stream actually was. She was way to wired up with energy to appreciate anything: about her abilities. Which was why she found herself so close to the edge of the pier. A group of teens were fooling around and one of the group was pushed in her direction. Instinctively she stepped out of the way, onto what she had assumed was the very edge of the pier only..it wasn’t.

Falling into the water she growled with frustration. While trying to catch her bearings she heard someone tell her to hold on. In her anger she thought “what the fuck am I supposed to hold onto?” Nonetheless she took her offered hand, shocking herself and the person involved. She used the support of the random stranger to hoist herself back on the pier and laid down. This was probably the worst day for it not be hot. ”Sorry about the shock”

He'd blink in surprise when the shock hit him, the Shadow briefly panicking and screaming into James' head, not that anyone else could here. "It's fine," he'd say with a small chuckle, taking a seat on the pier as they talked, "didn't hit anything on the way down did you?"

James would glance around and saw the teens involved had all run off, probably embarrassed at having knocked a pretty girl into the water. The Shadow continued to whine about the shock and this and that, just like a little kid, James would do his best to mentally shush him.

The young shadow mage would blink when he was given another surprise shock, but quickly shrugged it off, wasn't the worse thing in the world. "Anyways, I'm James," he'd say with a playful grin, "hope the shadow tentacles didn't frank you out any."

Xarrah groaned silently and sat up. She needed to get better at paying attention. What good were super fast reflexes if she tried to step on things that weren’t there. No matter how powerful her power got, her awareness would be compromised. ”Besides the water? No” she flinched slightly at the shock she received, how traitorous her abilities were.

She smiled back and shook her head, her wet curls flinging water every where. She sighed and started to wring out her clothing and hair. Thankfully she wasn’t wearing anything to thick. She might take a while to dry but were clothes wouldn’t hinder her to much. “Considering I transform into scaly ass dragon and shock people it would be hypocritical to be put off by anyone’s ability...I’m Xarrah bu the way.” she felt bad that she was gonna inevitably be shocking him until she dried or he left.

"Oh a lightning dragon, that's very cool, and much less edgy looking that shadow magic," he'd say with a smile, standing and offering his hand, both to shake and help her up, shocks be damned. "It's good to meet you Xarrah," he'd say with a smile, which was interrupted by another shock, which he again shook you off."

About now the Shadow would be chiming in James head, commenting on it all, telling James to stop flirting and overall being an annoying little shit.

"Want me to track a towel down for you?" he'd ask, realizing she was pretty uncomfortable being all wet, "actually I could teleport back to my dorm and grab one real quick." He'd smile, a little playfully, "unless you'd prefer to air dry."

Xarrah laughed and shook her head "You're only saying that because you haven't the met the dragons I know, they get pretty angsty and emo." She took the offered hand and stood up, not sure why he would want to shake her hand when she kept shocking him. When he had told her it was a nice meeting, she was sure he was just being polite. She would've been pretty salty had she tried to help someone out of a bind and got shocked in the processes. Okay, it wouldn't have done her much damage but still.

"It's nice meeting you too James, although I wish it was under better circumstances." She would be the one to meet a cute boy and start to malfunction like a faulty radio. Her face turned as red as her hair was currently "Uh....I actually do prefer to air dry...towel drying makes the electricity worse" she smiled sheepishly and tried to put a little distance in between them to save him from her shocks.

"So do you uh, attend the academy?" While he did look vaguely family, Xarrah admittedly didn't pay much attention to her surroundings. There was always something distracting her from those around her.

"Angsty dragons?" he'd ask with a grin, "do they sit on top of castles and brood about down onto the world?" he'd say, clearly joking. He'd ignore another jolt of electricity, not a pleasant thing, but he healed fast, and these shocks weren't damaging anyways.

"Oh, don't worry about it, it's memorable, and I wouldn't call it bad really," he often met people in strange ways, he was quite used to it by now, "a meeting is only bad when it's with a bad person....so far you seem quite nice, bubbly."

He'd tilt his head head when she started to move away a bit, "no worries, it's still warm, you'll dry fast." He'd give her a smile, "I do yeah, started my junior year," he'd grin, "learning all that magical goodness...plus math, but math is bleh."

"Wanna walk with me?" it was cold by any means, but walking might help her dry faster, "we can grab some drinks and a snack if your up for it." She was cute, shocks or no shocks.

She shook her head "Worse, they sit in a cave, and moan about the futility of materialistic desires because life is meaningless and fleeting. Then one of my other cousins tells them to shurt the frig up" The fact that she managed to say that with a straight face and not laugh was a miracle. She had only ever heard that come from a few distant cousins, but it was always a joy when it did happen. She took the time to wring out more water from her hair and clothes, they were definitely what she was worried about the most. Her skin was definitely something that would dry fast.

She smiled shyly he was definitely being way too nice about the whole thing. Her relatives were always understand, but they were her family. She normally got a lot of glares or indignant yells when her powers acted up at school. "Yeah, Math happens to be easy for me but it's something that causes me great pain." Whenever she did a math problem it always like, her days and weeks, appeared in front of her line of vision. It made it all the more difficult to pay attention in class.

Xarrah nodded and moved a bit closer, hoping that the shocking was over for now. "I wouldn't mind walking with you. Maybe we could stop at one of the shops by the pier? I saw a few that offered changing rooms and clothing. I'd probably be more pleasant to be around me if I wasn't trying to electrocute you every couple of minutes." She didn't intention that it felt uncomfortable to be stuck in her human form. Not that she was going to shift, she just like having the option.

James wasn't able to keep a straight face, no he did in fact laugh a bit at that, "now that is an image, big old dragon moaning and groaning like that," it was definitely amusing, picturing a dragon acting like that.

He'd nod, walking towards those shops with her, "the shocks certainly are something," hed get hit by another, "that's why the school is here though, teach you control, it's why I originally came. You should've seen me when I first came here." He'd grin, "used to I had to shift to use my powere...so first day in power class I shift and immediately teleport into a wall," he'd chuckle, "so, me, covered in darkness...sliding slowly down a wall, like out of some cartoon, plus tentacles tripping people." That seemed so long ago, but it was only able two years.

He'd stop once they reached the stands, buying their drinks, asking her what she wanted, giving her a chance to change while they waited for snacks. "How long have you lived here?" he'd ask curiously once she returned, "school's so damn big, been here almost two years but I'm still running into people I hadn't met before."

Xarrah smiled apologetically, she would be dry soon, all she needed to do was change her clothes and then she could put the whole embarrassing thing behind her. She was glad that he found humor in the emo dragon joke. She knew that some people saw dragons as big scary creatures, but to her most of them were....overwhelmingly harmless.

"Yeah, but i don't think ill be able to control what happens to me when i'm wet. I'm sorta like...a radio when you leave it plugged in and it drops in the bathtub. It's more of a side effect than anything." Still the possibility of having complete control of her power to the point she didn't spark when wet was appealing. She couldn't help but laugh at the visual he painted. She was sure that was the point of his story.

"Only a year, I would be lying if I said I hadn't been a bit of hermit of sorts. I'm just not feeling comfortable getting out the house and exploring the island" She ordered a smoothie and some french fries and then disappeared to change into a pair of shorts and a tourist type beach shirt. Once she was n dry clothes she felt much better about the whole thing. Chucking her wet clothes in a near by trash can she skipped back over to James.

"Okay, let's do this alll over again.... Hi my name s Xarrah" She said holding her hand out to James.
