Storm had asked again and again, and yet both Adelyn and Haru still insisted on doing something for her birthday. It was Halloween—no, on the island it was called Samhain—and there were so many other things the two of them could be doing besides spending time celebrating a birthday Storm did not particularly care about. Besides, she got a visit from the “Birthday Fairy” earlier, and wasn’t that enough? Also, why was she never warned that a “Birthday Fairy” even existed?!
Either way, even though Adelyn got to witness the Birthday Fairy shenanigans, she still insisted on popping by later. And Haru really threw her for a loop. She not only wanted to come, but cook her steaks…? Storm certainly couldn’t complain about a good steak, but there were so many other things Haru could do on that holiday. Pretty much every time Haru had associated with her, Storm was having some sort of emotional turmoil ever since the Corn Maze. Was that really who Haru wanted to spend her night with?
But they both continued to insist, so Storm worked to ensure that her new home was set up before the day approached. Initially she had moved into an apartment when she moved to the island, but when she found a small cottage in the middle of the woods being sold for cheap, Storm immediately jumped on the opportunity. It was a bit of a fixer-upper—particularly on the outside—but Storm already had her few belongings unpacked and set up inside.
Her home was as tidy as it could possible be, and now…all she could do was wait.
