"The Uk?" Sterling smiled when Jamie mentioned the place, he knew it quite well, he had quite a few charges there over the many centuries. "I have been there many times, it is very beautiful." he said, "I worked there for many years." he said not thinking that he looked like he was only 18, 19 and was, therefore, a strange comment to have made.

"Ah, I believe, you were, the term is, army brat?!" he remarked joking, trying to think what they called someone who grew up in an army, military family.

"Hmm...Where am I from?" Sterling murmured thoughtfully, he didn't tell people too often about his condition, but his roomie should perhaps know. "Well, that is a hard one. Not Earth ... it's, well humans often call it, heaven, though it's more like another realm." he explained with a patient smile. "I hope you don't mind living with an angel." Sterling said.

Jamie mentally regarded the new information. It was odd when Mr. Sterling said that he had been in the UK - worked in the UK - for many years. Mr. Sterling looked about Jamie's age. Maybe younger. He had not lived many years from what his appearance said, and it was illegal for people under 14 to work in the UK. That would not make many years, even if Mr. Sterling had worked since he was the legal age. Asking about that would be rude, though. Maybe Mr. Sterling didn't grow old, like him. That would make sense. Or maybe it was something else.

"I am not familiar with that term," he responded. A quick tap into the phone in his pocket gave the definition. "Now I am. I don't think that would be appropriate. My parents were not military people. I was raised as a military asset, I think, would be more appropriate."

Jamie regretted saying that. That scared people. He didn't want to scare his new potential roommate. But Mr. Sterling was also an angel. Jamie didn't believe in God, but he did know that there were angels and demons on this island. What he hadn't done was meet one of them. That explained why Mr. Sterling can't age. He had many questions, now, but maybe he should save them for later.

"I don't," he said, seriously. "I hope you don't mind living with a cyborg."

"Military asset?" Sterling said with a slight frown. he didn't like the sound of that. It sounded like Jamie had been treated like a weapon or something. And that idea bothered him somewhat. Sterling didn't like thinking of people being treated inhumanely or in certain ways for inhumane reasons. "That doesn't sound pleasant. I hope they treated you well." he said with some concern.

Then, when he heard Jamie say he was a cyborg, Sterling looked at him, now paying close attention as his gaze looked him over quickly and in surprise. "No, not at all..." he said with a slow smile after the initial shock. Jamie did not look like a cyborg. Not at all. "Actually, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't have said anything. " he admitted with a grin.

"Is that why you said you were a military asset?" Sterling asked then, believing the two things were related somehow. Then, after a quick second,

"Sorry, I am overly curious at times. Angels have a habit of asking too many questions too, I'm afraid, " he admitted sheepishly. "You don't need to say anything if you don't want to. Ignore I asked." Sterling said.

“They were alright to me.” Jamie said, dismissively. They fed him and gave him a place to live, at least, and he was still alive. That was alright. They also did experiments on him, which Mr. Havoc had said was apparently unethical, but Jamie didn't really know if it was right or wrong. He was taught that they existed for the good of their country. But he thought that throwing his dilemmas at his new roommate may not be considered socially acceptable, so he left it at that.

"I know I don't look like a cyborg. You might have noticed that my eyes don't track. This is because I see through cameras, not my eyes." he offered, pointing at the camera around his neck. The next question caught Jamie a little off guard. He decided quickly that it may be easier to just be vague. "Yes. That was the reason. Don't worry, though. I don't mind answering questions."

"What is it like as an angel?" he said, somewhat suddenly, after a few moments of silence.

"Wow... I did not know humans could do such things." Sterling admitted when Jamie explained about the cameras and his sight. "It's been a while since I kept up with human technology." he said thoughtfully, "Well, ever since I stopped being a guardian angel actually..." he added, sort of surprised himself at that bit. He hadn't realised how much of his job was actually watching and learning about his charges and their world.

"Being an angel? Well, I never thought about it before..." he said with a smile, "I guess, it - it's odd," Sterling admitted, not knowing how to explain it. "I feel that I've been around forever, but not. Every day is still different somehow and I'm constantly amazed at everything around me despite everything. Mortals are a curious lot." he said. Angels often found humans to be fascinating.

"And I still get these feelings of needing to be places, it's like some force compels me there." he nodded. "I think it's a leftover thing from being a protector. And it really sucks at times, because I can't rest until I find out what I need to do." he admitted to Jamie, grimacing slightly here.

"Oh, and the days are much quieter now, thankfully." he said looking at Jamie, "when I was a guardian angel, it was always noisy in my head, people were constantly always calling out, asking for help and we'd hear those pleas... and many times, sadly, I had to ignore them," he said kind of embarrassed and with a sad smile.

"And you? What is being a cyborg like?" Sterling asked. "Do you miss being completely human?"

Jamie, to be very honest, didn't fully understand much of what Mr. Sterling had said. He had never experienced those feelings, and found himself a bit out of his depth. But he was curious. An angel must live for such a long time. He wondered how much he would be in Mr. Sterling's life. Are guardian angels guarding only humans, or do they exist for other species as well? So many questions, but questions for a different time. Jamie knew at least that much.

The part about hearing people asking for help, and having to say no, though, that did remind him of something. When he left the facility. The other JM program boys and the other children they were not allowed to speak to were probably still there. He had left them all behind. "I hope they stay quiet, then," Jamie offered.

"Being a cyborg? It's... well, it's all I know," Jamie said, seriously. Since the beginning of his memory he had always been something with mechanical modifications, never quite a whole human. He had became less and less human, but he did not ever remember just being a person. "It does come with benefits. I can live for longer without food and water. I don't get hot or cold. That's always nice. But also I can't heal like a normal person can. And I still have quite a bit of trouble talking to people. I hope I didn't do too bad today."

Sterling nodded in agreement as Jamie spoke of being a cybord, he completely understood what he was talking about - In a way, they were both very similar - creations - Jamie of the human kind, and him of the divine, celestial kind. And in an odd way, it was comforting to Sterling to know that his potential roommate was also like him in a way.

"You don't need to worry about that, You've explained yourself very well. " Sterling said with an encouraging grin, "And I don't need to eat or drink either, but I love sweets or baked bread - pastries that kind of thing... they are the best things ever..." Sterling said with a sigh, just thinking about them made him want some.

"The only thing I really do need, almost daily, is sunshine ... or nature of some sort." he said to Jamie, "Without it I just feel, well, kind of incomplete, grumpy like I'm missing something." he confessed. "That's why the place has so many windows." he explained with a grin.

“I can cook. But ive never baked before. Maybe I can try, later on.” Jamie offered. He was good at cooking from recipes, because he followed instructions well, so the food always turned out fine. He had trouble with tastes, though, so often he didn’t eat much of what he cooked. He imagined baking shouldn’t be too difficult.

“The sun is nice. I don’t mind it.” He said. In the facility they were out often for exercises and drills, but because of the location it was frequently very windy and rainy. While Jamie didn’t mind, the sunlight here was a nice change. Everything was different, and it seemed suitable that the weather would be as well.

Jamie paused for a second, thinking hard on what other information Mr. Sterling might want to know.

“I am not very used to having to make decisions for myself. Sometimes I might ask you for help. Like for clothes, and small things. If you don’t mind that I think I might move in soon.” Jamie said.

"Wow, that's so great! You will have to teach me! I never really learned how to cook," Sterling admitted, cooking was not something angels learned how to do. It had not been part of their celestial knowledge or training. "Hey, I know... " here Sterling grinned, "We could learn to bake together? Maybe go to a baking class even?" he suggested thinking it might be fun, and now just assuming Jamie was moving in - he was already making plans for them.

"Oh, and don't worry about that... humans always ask for advice, it's actually very normal," Sterling said flashing Jamie a grin - this time he could answer with authority. Human nature was something he knew about.

"That's great news. I think we'll get on really well... Let me go grab you a key..." Sterling said happy when Jamie told him he'd like to move in soon.

"Hey you go," Sterling said as he handed him the spare that was on a side table. "And if you need help with moving anything just let me know. I have a car, can pick you up, move boxes, anything really," he stated wanting Jamie to know that if he needed help he was there to give it.

“Baking class? Sure. I like to learn new things.” Jamie said. He hadn’t been taking many lessons now that he was out the facility. It was a nice break, because he had also been learning a lot about life skills, but he liked to learn. It was one of his favourite things to do. And learning with a friend is always better than being alone. Jamie hadn’t had many friends before, either. Maybe Mr. Havoc. And Mr. Theo. But that was it.

Jamie waited for the key. He was happy that he hadn’t made many mistakes, and now Mr. Sterling was alright with him moving in. Hopefully Mr. Sterling wouldn’t get too mad at him in the future. He liked having friends

“I only have one duffel bag. I don’t own much. I can go back and get it, if you don’t need mind. It will only take 18 minutes for the round trip,” he said, then added as an afterthought, “If you want to, you can come with me. “
