Mike laughed "This is where your job ends and mine beings Maddie" It was going to be a tough time but Mike was in need of figuring out what made the nexus tick.
A normal hunt for a normal bear....mutant bear.....ten foot three headed bear.

"What if you didn't need it in the first place?" Maddie asked.
Mike shrugged "Then I'd try and repay you for this chaos. Then I'd likely search for the next thing."
Maddie looked at Bandit, who stared back. When her gaze returned to Mike, she gave an odd look. "Where did you read about this nexus? I mean, what was your information source?"
Mike laughed "Let's see, old myths, rumors, tales in books, mostly stuff that wasn't concrete. But it was the best thing info I had. Sorry for dragging you with me." Mike scrathed the back of his head. It was a 50-50 shot in his eyes. 50% chance this rumored nexus was real and 50% it wasn't. Looks like luck was finally in his favor.
Maddie shrugged and offered him another smile. "Don't mentioned it. Do you want me to come back to your lab with you...or...?"
Mike shook his head. "I don't want to put you in more danger than I already have. I honestly don't have any clue what a nexus is capable of. So I recommend you just go home. I'll call you or something if I need your help alright?"
Maddie shifted for a bit, as if unsure she wanted to live, then she grinned at Mike, showing off a few teeth. "Okay. Well, I'll see you later, right? I mean, you'll let me know what happened?"
Mike nodded Of course I will. I would never leave my adorable assistant in the dark on what was happening. I just....don't want to accidently kill you. Aaaaaaannny way. See ya!" With that Mike walked off, not giving Maddie anytime to speak.
