Kenichi was tired of the computer lab, and of the school, so he decided to go out for a walk. He went into a sort of daze, and let his feet wander. Master always said this would lead him to trouble; Master said he wouldn't be able to find his way back. But he's found that if you just, force your feet to work in reverse, you'll end up where you started "if only he had walked with Master more, maybe my feet could take me back to him!" Kenichi thought.

As Kenichi walked, he noted that the sound of water was getting louder, and he believed he was meandering towards the ocean. He walked alone the beach-sometimes, pacing-for quite some time. The sun had set, and a harsh wind was riding atop the waves; snowflakes could be seen falling down. Kenichi returned to his senses when the cold had crept into him.

He used a small amount of Mana to keep him warm-he had forgotten his jacket, as he observed his surroundings. It was a Waning Crescent, and it had a very interesting color to it. He pulled his bag around to his front, said "camera, appear!" and pulled it from his bag. He snapped a picture of the moon. "Crescent over the Ocean." he said to himself, titling the picture.

He decided he wanted to spend some time here, on the shore, so he summoned his carving knife, and matches from his bag. He went right to work on making a fire, and sat down next to it, warming himself with it, dropping his Mana back inside him. Kenichi watched the moon as he remembered the first Mana control his Master had taught him...

'you've got to learn how to focus your Mana, Kenichi. and since you're a fire-elemental, I've got a perfect idea. Give me your jacket, and your bag. Your knife too!' Kenichi laughed to himself, thinking how foolish he had been. 'get out there! don't come back for 3 hours!' his master told him, kicking Kenichi out into a blizzard. Kenichi had to learn to draw his Mana to his skin, and heat it, to stay alive. It was quite easy, because of his natural affinity to fire; he envisioned a flame, and drew mana. The heat came naturally then.

Kenichi sighed, and said to hiimself, "Master, where did you go?" He looked back to the fire now, drawing the heat from it into his body, converting it into his spent Mana. He sighed once more, brought up his mana to his skin again, and took a nap next to his now spent fire, using his bag as a pillow.

Nakata ran, full speed along the beach, trying desperately to keep his weight distributed properly so that he could stay above the sand. On occasion, his father had made him run in sand using this method so that he could learn to use the same method for people and other walls. "leaping sparrow" his father had called it, a technique for 'defying gravity' but he was resolute to continue his training and further it here at starlight academy, or prison as he called it. Since coming here, he had actually gotten much better about speaking english. His thoughts about learning experiences of the past suddenly vanished as the peaked at the moon, he stopped running, standing on the sand and while he sank slightly, it was less so than most might, and he sank evenly so he didn't even get any in his shoes.
"Watashi no kibō wa, kono tatakai no naka ni yūyōdearu koto ga (I hope this is useful in a fight.)" He said to himself in japanese, finding no need to use english with no one else around him.

It didn't take long for him to see the smoke rise into the air and as it did, he took full advantage of the training he was currently undergoing. He ran along the beach never making a sound as the shock of his steps was absorbed by the sand to the fullest as he ran, crouched low. His mind flew back to a session he had spent with his father.

___________ Flashback_____________

10 year old Nakata stood with the wooden ninja-to in hand and a hiding place protecting him. His father, kaito, stalked the around around him, but as his father approached his hiding spot, he only turned away, never seeing the danger that lurked. In a flash Nakata sprang from his hiding spot, amazingly not even making a sound, but as he neared his father and jumped, he yelled, letting out a thunderous roar as he attacked. This was his mistake, and as he made his attack, the would be victim turned, punching Nakata in the somache and leveling him to the floor.
"Remember your rules" the elder Ishikawa said. "Rule 1. Erase your breathing, dissolve into shadow, aquire your target. Rule 2. Synchronize yourself with your target and predict his actions before he knows that he will make them, and Rule 3. Defeat your target before he is aware of your existence. Now, Nakata, which rules did you break?" All of the conversation was in japanese, but the basis for these assassination arts were key to what Kaito was teaching his son.

"rule 2 and rule 3, but not until I jumped at you father." Nakata correctly guessed, taking note of his hedonism that had caused him to shout as he jumped at what could have been a target attempting to kill him.

"Correct. Now, once you have made your presence known, it is unlikely that you will be able to hide again. This is when the rules change, and only rule number 2 applies." Kaito said, taking a traditional Assasgi Ryu ninjutsu stance...

++++++++++++End Flashback+++++++++++

Nakata thought about his lessons as he followed the trail of smoke. His black clothing make hiding in the dark a little easier, and he dissolved into shadow the best way most humans could. Nextly, he held his breath as he approached a seemingly unconscious figure at the now smoldering fire, and lastly, he approached slowly, watching and with no weapon drawn.

It didn't take long for him to recognize the kid as a student here, not that they typically had a huge fill of monsters and the like and therefore, no reason to be as cautious as he was being, but it was good practice. He had gotten all the way up to the sleeping kid, though he immediately turned around to head back to his dorm. If he woke up he might start talking and that was the last thing Naka needed at the moment.

Cyan had a lot on his mind, and he had begun exploring outside to clear his head. It had only been a week since Miss Winslow passed away. She may have been an old recluse, and not much of a mother, but she was the closest thing to family he ever had. And now she was gone, as was his life at Winslow Manor.

Cyan remembered what the people had told him, how he would be sent to the Manta Carlos Islands, how he was going to be with "people like him." Baloney! He had heard a few stories; these guys were practically super-heroes, or characters from some shonen anime. Cyan? He was just a geek with no exposure to the outside world. He just happened to be an indestructible green ferret-thing.

As he walked, the scenery changed from grass to the sandy shore. Cyan noticed two figures in the distance: one lying down, and the other walking toward the dorms.

"Might as well start making friends now," he mumbled to himself as he began scurrying toward the walking figure. As he drew closer, he noticed the figure's black and white hair. "Hey, uh, two tone!" he called out as he drew closer, "Wait, that didn't come out right, sounds like an insult." He scratched behind his ear nervously. "Um, so uh, you out to get some fresh air too? Or, um...man, I'm bad at this," he added, half to himself. He looked at the ground and let out a sigh. "Hi, name's Cyan. And you?" The small creature looked up at the pale teen with the fierce violet eyes.

Kenichi awoke with a start at the sound of a man's voice. He Kip-Flipped up, and grabbed the strap to his messenger bag; it was a trick that took almost a week to perfect, as there is alot of movement involved. He shouted "Metal appear!" and summoned 20 crushed soda cans into his bag. Cheep, low grade Aluminum that cost next to no mana to summon or control. He clapped his hands together, and placed his left hand to the cans, infusing them with mana, drawing them into one large, single mass, that he then turned into a whip.

Kenichi pulled into a defensive stance, and took stock of the situation surrounding him. There was a man about 20 paces away from him now, who had just been within inches of his resting place, judging from the footsteps, and he didn't even make Kenichi stir-a very light sleeper, thanks to his Master's training.Another man-boy, really- was roughly 100 paces away from him, and was waving to them, saying something mostly unintelligible...something about Two-toned...Kenichi looked back to the other one now...yes, he did have interesting hair.

However, despite an...interesting meeting, Kenichi was willing to play nice. He tucked up the aluminum, spreading it out over his left arm, stopping at the elbow, so that it would be dense enough to be of any real use. "Hi there, stranger!" he said, "fancy meeting two other people out on this beach! i was just...well, i was taking a nap, but i really came out here for a chance to meditate, which i did get done. So, how are you two this fine evening?"

Cyan jumped at the sound of the other teenager's shout. He turned toward the source as it continued with a slightly more friendly greeting. "Oh, hey, thought you were asleep. You spooked me a bit, probably 'cause it's dark...I'm doing, well, as okay as I could be, considering...So, what's your name?" He turned toward the young man with the two-toned hair. "Oh, yeah. Um...and you? Who are you?"

Cyan cursed himself silently. This was his first real chance to meet some possible peers, and he had no plan of action. Real life was nothing like those shows on the internet and TV. "Time to hope for the best," he thought silently.

Nakata nearly smacked himself in the forehead the moment the... ferret?.. at this he actually did smack his forehead. He had dropped his guard with the thought that no one else was around and had gotten surprised by an animal... a talking animal. The result of the creature's talking had awakened the sleeping boy, who had taken a combat approach. He was very loud about it and Naka thought that it showed that it was necessary. Where he had tried to approach this without getting caught up too much in conversation he shook his head, deciding to use etiquette rather than being rude.
"I am fine, and my namu is Ishikawa Nakata desu, I mean, Nakata Ishikawa." He said with a bow. His japanese accent shining through and his slip up with tokyo slang in his sentences and Japanese naming order as opposed to American.

He was now attempting to converse, most likely in English, with two people and he did not enjoy the prospect of this attempt. with his resolve set, he decided to minimalize the conversation and be on his way.

Kenichi shook his head. He was still half-asleep, and where there once there was a man, there is now a...Ferret? yes, it really is a talking Ferret. "Hello, Ishikawa-san. My name is Kenichi Kururugi. The...Ferret's name is Cyan?"

At this, Kenichi clicked his tongue inside his mouth. "dammit...wasted metal...ferret? but this guy..." he murmured, mostly to himself under his breath. Kenichi mad the metal form up into a band, then released his Mana, allowing the band to fall to his wrist, and stay there, if needed at a moment's notice. "Well," he said, "this is interesting...are you really a ferret? or is that just some sort of illusion? I think Master mentioned something about transformation spells that could go awry."

Kenichi sneezed twice then, and said "sorry, i'm a bit cold...could we walk up the beach a ways? if i start moving, i'll warm up quickly.

"Oh hi, um, Mr. Ishi...Ishikawa, and Kururugi," he said, his tongue stumbling over the Japanese names, "Right. I'm bad with names, so sorry if I ask later. It's not 'cause I don't care, or nothin'," he scratched behind his ear again and turned toward Kururugi. "Yeah, name's Cyan Winslow, like the color, you know, cyan. And I'm not really a ferret, exactly. Um, I'm called a painted weasel, uh, let's see... Mustela Auritus. My mom gave me that classification; it's not official, on account of me being the only one." Cyan cleared his throat before Kururugi began to sneeze. "Gesundheit."

"Sure, we can walk and talk," He says in response to Kururugi's suggestion. He turns toward Ishikawa, "Uh, Two-I mean, um... Can I call you Ishi? 'You coming?"

These two were curious characters. Both appeared to be of East Asian descent, Japanese, judging by the names. The black-haired one, whom Cyan originally thought was asleep, seemed annoyed about something, but the tone of his voice told him it wasn't exactly directed toward him. The one with the violet eyes and two-toned hair had seemed slightly intimidating at first, but now that he was closer, Cyan noticed something else in those eyes, a tiny hint of some hidden emotion. "You're too analytical, Cyan," he thought to himself.

Nakata smacked his forehead and looked at them both.
"My namu is Nakata, Ishikawa is my family namu." He corrected both of them. He wasn't annoyed about it though, technically it was his fault for using a japanese introduction rather than an american one with two english speaking people. He had picked up on a couple of things, he was still thinking like everyone was a combatant. Given the nature of the meeting though, he figured that they would most likely be honest people. He had gathered that the kid here with them had powers that were based on metal, meanwhile he had not even the slightest of clues as to what the weasel did... aside from being a talking weasel. The people that had broken into his house two years ago had managed to deposit him here on the island and in this academy. To be honest he would probably speak english better if he talked to people more and this seemed like as good an opportunity as any.

He hadn't bothered enrolling in any of the power control classes because... his power was to heal from just about any injury and that didn't require any lessons. With these thoughts having gone through his head, he turned to walk with them, not wholly ready to head back to his dorm yet.
"I'm up for walking and talking."

"Oh, no I was just...I know that's your uh, surname. I just, since your accent was Japanese, I thought it might not be appropriate ask to call you Naka. I guess I watch too much anime..." Cyan shifted to all fours and shivered. "These pants and this short fur really aren't enough for this kind of weather," He thought to himself, "Maybe I can find a dog sweater that will fit me."

As he began to walk on all fours, he mentally scrambled for something to break the ice. Ice, bingo, that was it. "Whew, it's uh, it's getting pretty cold lately isn't it?"
