Alex didn’t speak much on the bus ride home. She knew Alice felt guilty about falling asleep and Alex didn’t want that. But then while they were at the bus stop she picked up on the thoughts of one of the men in the crowed waiting for the bus too. The things he was thinking about Alex, and Alice, the thoughts that were running threw his mind made her skin crawl. No matter how used to being a girl Alex got people like him and those disturbing little thoughts they have would make her want to cut off all her hair and try to pass herself off as a boy, even thought she knew she wouldn’t be successful at all at convincing anyone of that with this body.
Because of this man, who she never did see the face of; she was rather comfortable on the bus ride back to the school. She didn’t let this show though, didn’t want Alice to think it was because of her, and she really didn’t want to tell her the real reason. So all she did was put her arm around her and give her a warm smile. When they got to the school Alex noticed Alice using her powers to protect them from the rain. She was impressed by it but she was more concerned by the visible strain it was putting on Alice. Alex was concerned and wanted to tell Alice to stop but Alex wasn’t even sure Alice could hear her right now. So she followed close to Alice across the wet lawn in shoes that she should never have worn and she was pretty sure she would burn them tomorrow. Why did she even think heals were a good idea to begin with.
When they got back to the dorm Alex wasn’t exactly sure what to do. When normal dates ended the boy walks the girl to her door kisses her good night and leaves. What was Alex suppose to do then, her and Alice lived in the same room and as the man on the bus’ mind pointed out, she was far from a boy now. “Well that was fun.†Alex said standing there at the door, smiling happily at Alice. “You know taking a girl to your room on a first date. Rumors get started that way.â€Â
