A New Start

Whatever these 'dorm' things were supposed to be, it was probably preferable to just continuing to live wherever outside, much as Kai was frequently forced to do back home. Whatever would be the case, he'd gathered his things — few as they were — in a few bags slung over his shoulders, whether it be a few spare articles of clothing, a little food, or mostly these ridiculous books for this 'school' place that were taking the most space and weight... not that he minded too much even then. He was plenty strong, after all; he could handle this much.

And a bit of a walk from where he'd originally started off to gather his things. He could definitely handle that too.

Now then... this room, that room... there. And... hrm... keys... well, whatever, these things couldn't be that fragile. Dropping his bags rather unceremoniously onto the floor, and invariably drawing a few more eyes that hadn't already been warily regarding him, he slipped out from his pocket the key he'd been given for this room in particular. And... hm. Presumably it went somewhere, but he wasn't quite sure where. Thus he steadily got more and more annoyed as he failed to figure out exactly how to push the key against the door or whatever to make it work, nor how to forcibly tug it open even with this round thing jutting out from it.

He'd been told he'd get a 'roommate', annoying as that was, so then... who else was supposed to be here? Maybe they'd be able to figure this stupid thing out...

Krystopher had been been told he'd be getting a roommate soon after being assigned a room, quite a different situation then what he'd had at his family home. He'd had his own room there so the thought of sharing space was a bit foreign. To be nice, he'd only used a token space for his belongings as he hadn't very much to being with. Just his bed, a desk, part of the dresser and closet for his clothing and suitcase.

He'd gone to get a drink when he saw someone trying to use a key on his door. Was this his roommate? He'd never seen anyone like this other boy before, looking like a cross between a human and a fox. It was like he had come from one of Krys' animes. While nervous, the boy also found himself excited. He wanted to make a good impressions on his new roommate.

Walking up, he took his key from his pocket and smiled at the boy. "Would you like some help? My name is Krystopher. I suppose we're going to be roommates now." He spoke just above a whisper, not used to talking at all, which caused him to blush slightly in embarrassment.

Hrm? Oh. A boy. Wasn't that great, though... well, since Kai thought a bit on it, it probably figured. No doubt it would be bothersome, for either party, if he were to be paired with a girl. This one, though... speaking so quietly like that, would a fight even be worth his time? A soft-spoken boy like this was probably already below a number of people...

"Hrm. I guess," the fox boy grumbled slightly, not even wasting any time commenting on the boy's quiet speech. Leaving things at that, he tried one more time to shove the 'key' at this rounded thing on the door to no avail, before shoving it out toward this 'Krystopher' boy. "Here, then. You probably know how this 'key' thing works, so show me," he demanded, growling slightly at nothing in particular as he caught a few increased whispers nearby. Annoying people... they'd know to back off if he felt like making them, but right now he needed to at least get into his room.

"And name's Kai; all you probably need to know, really. And why're you seemin' nervous? You're a guy, you should be able to at least stand up confidently," he asked, casting a curious gaze on his apparent new roommate.

Krystopher's embarrassed blush deepened as he showed his new roommate how to use the key and lock. He knew his voice would get him into trouble. Usually he just used a rough form of sign language to get his point across so that both parties were happy. It was kind-of hard to do that with an introduction, though, but the boy still wasn't satisfied with his choice.

"I-I don't really know...I've been practicing, ever since I left home, but I haven't gotten much better yet..." Opening the door, he gestured for Kai to enter the room first. most of the room was bare except the parts that Krys had already unpacked for himself. There was another whole desk and dresser for Kai to use as well as more than half of the closet between the two. On Krys' desk was his laptop with his anime and games to one side with his crystal sculptures and raw stones on the other for practice.

"I tried to not use up too much space before you got here, but if you need more room, I can move my stuff for you." His blush lessened, really wanting to help Kai feel comfortable in the room. Even though he'd had his own room at his house, he still tried to be considerate. He didn't want to have a fight with anyone, and he definitely didn't want to hurt anyone by accident. Maybe the other boy would like the crystals that he could make.
