Tybalt was a buzzkill, wasn't he? He didn't seem to like anything. He didn't like sharing personal info, he didn't like New York, he didn't like New Yorkers... well, perhaps it wasn't the best foot to start out on, but Angelo could hardly just let that slide.

"For the record, New York is amazing. Iconic skyline, broadway, twenty for seven metro, new york style pizza, and the best bagels. If you think it's bad, it's because you weren't looking at the right stuff and probably got caught in the tourist traps." He would fight to the death over how great New York was. It was his home.

"And for the record, is there even anything you do like?" He jabbed, before turning to the waiter and ordering his own food.

Not looking at the right stuff was probably correct, but getting caught in tourist traps was not. He'd seen literally all of New York at some point or another, and he still found that he quite disliked the cold and distant people with their sticky grey glows. There was no real need to tell that all to Angelo, though, so he just shrugged again.

"Hm... let's see..." He seemed to ponder it for a moment almost comically, one finger tapping on his chin before his face lit up in an obviously faux smile.

"I like dates with handsome men and beautiful women. Does that count?" Well, he wasn't lying, he did quite enjoy a sappy date that would make the ones in old French film look downright curt. "And I like theater."

For the first time in his life, Angelo had to suddenly wonder if he was on a date. He had sure as hell never had to wonder that before, and he paused, squinting at Tybalt. Was... was he being hit on? Had his partner just made a pass at him? Or was he reading too much into it?

Probably reading too much into it. Tybalt seemed like too much of a goody goody to start making passes at someone he worked with. No inter-office dating and all that.

"Like, broadway theater?" How could he like theater and not like Broadway? "Or I suppose you only like the West End." Which Angelo himself had never been to, although he'd been to a few Broadway shows himself. The don had been a fan of that sort of thing.

Tybalt spotted the slight squint, though he wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. He almost wanted to ask but decided to just let it go. Instead, he batted his eyelashes innocently. What? He was only being honest to the question and if Angelo didn't want to know, he shouldn't have asked.

"Really, any situation in which beautiful people get on stage and act the part. I was once an stage actor, you know. Had a good time and I never grew bored of it." His name had helped, certainly. Otherwise, quitting had broken his heart.

"So how about yourself? Enough about me, tell me of your interests."

It was... alright, no two ways about it, describing stage plays as 'beautiful people getting on stage' was... odd. Very odd. Sounded more like porn, if you asked him. He kept his mouth shut though - he wasn't going to just ask that to Tybalt, mostly because he was worried he'd get another glare if he did.

He leaned back, waiting for the food to arrive as they made idle conversation. "Non-standard childhood meant I missed out on a lot of life's little pleasures. I like a lot of stuff you'd associate with the finer life, like art galleries and really high end food. Italian food especially. I've got a thing for animals even though I haven't had a pet before - planning to try and get one this winter though." He really didn't think Jack would mind. In fact, he was pretty much one hundred percent sure that he could get absolutely any pet he wanted and Jack wouldn't say a word, because that was the sort of thing you got to do when you dug bullets out of your roommates knees.

Being very vague was something that came naturally to him. It was an odd little leftover trait from heaven, where he seemed to mostly speak in riddles or not at all before casting people down to hell or bringing them to heaven. He wasn't going to apologize for it, though it had toned down quite a bit since he came to earth.

"A pet, hm?" He gave a little nod. "I used to have a cat. Poor things, they don't live very long at all." Well, the cat did live to be something like seventeen years old and that was only including the years he had it. In comparison, Tybalt was ancient and something like the the life of a cat was woefully short.

"I don't think I'd own another animal. Perhaps a tortoise. Those live long enough." Even most parrots died too young. But tortoises were rather slow, and he didn't know how well they traveled.

Angelo frowned. A cat didn't live very long? Hell, cats normally lived like a full quarter of a person's lifespan. If you adopted one when you were twenty, it was probably still going to be around to your mid thirties.

"I assume this is your way of casually hinting that you aren't human at all, and actually have a super long lifespan, so a hundred year old turtle to you would be like a fifteen year old cat to us." Yep, that made perfect sense to him. "You should get a parrot. They live a full human lifespan anyway, which is more than enough for any pet." He didn't know all that much about birds, but he did know the Don had said 'no' to his son getting one because of just how long the damn things lasted. He was definitely considering a pet, but whatever pet he was going to get... well, it wouldn't be a bird. He wanted something smaller. And maybe fluffier. You know what? Definitely fluffier.

It wasn't so much as a purposeful hint... More like an offhanded comment that revealed a bit more than he usually let on. Ah, he was growing quite clumsy, now was he? He almost reached up to rub at his temples but decided against it. Just... have things go smoothly. It was the first day he had this partner.

"Super long is a quaint way to put it. I am quite old." Ancient. Older than humanity. Turtles and parrots were drops in a pond to him, and comparing them to humans didn't help at all. No, humans came and went just as quickly.

"And I guess when you get as old as I am, everything just flashes by." He made a vague flicking gesture with his wrist, as if brushing something away. "It's a lonely life."

"Yes yes, ancient judgey being, has the lifespans of humans passing in a flash so we're all just bugs to you." He was still smiling, even as he waved his hand dismissively, the conversation coming to a pause as the server arrived, setting the food down in front of them before parting.

Angelo eyed the food carefully before grabbing his fork and resuming the conversation. "Has it occurred to you that there are probably a hundred people on the island over five hundred years old? Literally dozens of them. Angels, demons... hell, there's a cranky dragon that's a few thousand up north." It was coincidence that his brain jumped right to angels and demons. He'd been raised Catholic, and when 'ancient beings' got brought up... well, that was where his mind went.

Tybalt eyed the food put down in front of him, not quite wary but curious of it. It wasn't like he ate very often, usually out of politeness than necessity. He went for the coffee first, though; it just felt like the natural thing to do.

"So I've heard, but I don't socialize much." He took a sip and shrugged. "But maybe I should make the acquaintance of these people. Would you be one of those that live centuries?" Hey, you'd never know on an island like Manta Carlos. Throughout history there had been pockets of populations much like this one; outcasts of the main society looking for some belonging. This wasn't unfamiliar, but still a bit unusual.

Tybalt's eyes wandered down to Angelo's chest and the muddy ball of grey soul there. It was only a brief flicker, but he honestly had to wonder what he'd done to redeem himself and get onto the police force. That was, if the station knew about it at all.
