"I kinda had no choice whether I liked it or not, I was either to get used to it and live, or hate every second of it and within time... Death would be bestowed upon me. It was interesting to be there. It's true what they say, do be careful what you wish for," Max answered swiftly, she was passionate about her own past, she didn't have to go into such great detail, if they were to become known as "friends" a proper friendship; the friendship that Max had missed out on growing up then she wasn't prepared to reveal all her secrets at once, she wanted leave a mysterious air about her. Spark the curious instinctive out of the fellow people she may meet.
"Uruguay... Uruguay?" She pondered. She didn't want to sound dumb, she wanted to sound intelligent as well as interesting so she pretended to be thoughtful as if she was thinking about something familiar that had taken place in Uruguay.

"Oh?" Gabe raised an eyebrow. "A live or die situation? Were you forced into it...?" He frowned ever so slightly, a wash of concern appearing on his face. It went as soon as it had arrived though, he used to not even be that concerned about people but ever since he had met William he'd became much more aware of people's problems...

"Yeah I didn't live there all that long," Gabe laughed, "just when I was really young." He thought she mightn't know where it was so he added, "it's a country in South America."

"They speak Spanish there," Gabe informed Max.

"Spanish? Spanish? Spanish," Max certified his answer in a thoughtful tone. She watched his soft featured face crease into a frown of concern and she panicked slightly before it disappeared once again and she could relax a little before settling next to Gabe.
"Did you ever go back?" she asked shyly, not wanting to intrude on his past, and anything really about him, but she just wanted someone to talk to.

Gabe nodded,
"Yeah Spanish, it's my first language." He laughed, "I like to speak it sometimes when I need to rant but don't want anyone around me to understand, even if they have learnt it in school I speak too fast for them to catch it." He smiled, Gabe liked talking in Spanish.

"Sometimes," Gabe shrugged. "We go in the summer some years." He smiled, " it's pretty there. I enjoy going back but I don't think I'd ever live there properly again."

Gabe hadn't really planned that far ahead in the future if he was honest, he didn't know where he wanted to live when he was older. He figured he had plenty of time, he was only in his early twenties after all.

Max sat and gazed in wonder watching his lips move intricately forming the perfect spoken words that she was surprised. She didn't know that if you could speak two languages both could be as fluent as the other. He fascinated her.
"I know a few words in Spanish... I guess they are a few phrases but that's as much as I remember," Max coughed, a little of her pasta had caught her throat when it was least expecting it and she hadn't felt this feeling in a long time due to the lack of food she had eaten in the past but she cherished this moment and wanted to savour it for as long as possible.
The day Max coughed on pasta.

"Dude, really?" Gabe asked, excitedly, "That's awesome!" He smiled, "it's a beautiful language." He sighed, he often missed being around people who were able to speak it. "Hey you should test some out on me, I can tell you if you're saying them right!"

"Oh no!" Gabe exclaimed as Max started to cough. "Do you need some help?" He got off his chair to go and pat her back. That'd hopefully bring the pasta back up, stop her choking.

"There, there," Max had stopped coughing after a minute. "You'll be fine now." Gabe smiled.

Max began to shake, she knew very little about the language and didn't want to cock it up in front of someone so fluent and advanced in it. Her mind cast back to some few years ago when she taught herself vaguely bits of the language so if she was threatened by a 'foreigner' she could understand some little bits. She prepared herself mentally, "Me llamo Max? Y como estas? Donde está la zapateria?". She felt a bit more confident after refreshing her mind and smiled brightly, she felt suddenly welcomed among him. He was friendly enough but she didn't want to intrude on personal space at all. "It translates into: My name is Max, how are you? Where is the shoestore?" She paused and then quickly added, "I don't need to know where the shoestore is, my sneakers are fine," in case he thought she was actually asking where there was one. Though come to think of it, it would be good to get to know the place a bit more if she was going to stay...

Gabe kept silent as he saw the girl prepare herself to speak, he was interested in hearing this, very interested in fact. He hadn't heard Spanish being spoken in so long, he missed it a lot.

When Max started to speak he was surprised, she wasn't bad , her pronunciation needed some work but it was understandable and her grammar was correct. Gabe smiled at her,
"Believe it or not you're very good at it." He laughed a little as she mentioned the shoe store and shot her a questioning glance, he was wondering if she had meant to say something else. But when she explained he nodded, "I see, I see."

"Me llamo Gabriel. Estoy bien, gracias, ¿y tú?" It meant: I'm called Gabe. I'm good, thank you, and you? "I don't think there is a shoestore around here," he laughed. "Maybe in town somewhere."

"I'm good thanks," she laughed. She didn't know how to reply back in Spanish so she replied in English. Laughing. She was actuallylaughing. She could hear her laugh being lost in the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria; but nonetheless she felt light and weightless... like a great lump of sadness had been lifted off her shoulders. She worried that it would be offloaded onto someone else but she thought 'sucks to be them' and it did.
"I should probably check out this place a bit more shouldn't I?" she wondered aloud, hoping for a more reasonable opinion on her next moves around Starlight Academy. Gabe was still the only person she probably liked so far, yeah they all seemed nice... well the one's she had a least exchanged the occasional eye contact.
What Max liked...loved, about Gabe was that he wasn't flirting. She praised that. She wanted that. Someone good and altogether solid. She didn't care what sexuality he was or whether he was even interested in a relationship she did not care (well she was curious but it was not her place to ask and she certainly didn't want the increase of flirting with her; she would rather be left in the dark on this one).

"I'm glad to hear it," Gabe smiled, it was genuine. Gabe was great at getting on with people, and he enjoyed to make them happy. It was pleasant .
"Yeah," Gabe nodded, he'd be happy to give her a tour around the campus and beyond, if she'd like. "You really should, Starlight Academy's a great place," he hummed thoughtfully to himself, "I think you'll like it here. Hey I could show you around, if you're finished that?" He pointed towards her plate.

Gabe had finished his food ages ago, he'd scoffed it all down in no time. He could have eaten more if he was honest. Gabe could always eat more.
