Stefan rubbed the back of his neck when asked why Manta Carlos. It was an interesting question, and one he still debated himself. The biggest thing that had held him here was Zoraida, and he eventually found his own way.
"Well, I was heading around Norway, Germany, France, the US. Kinda travelled around doing what I could trying to find my actual father. When I did, I really didn't know what to do and started little side things which got me in trouble with law enforcement there."
Taking his drink, he finished it off and ordered another briefly before continuing.
"That was when the scouts found me and gave me the option to come here. So I took it to see what it was like."

Sylvi

Sylvi blinked when Stefan said he had gotten in trouble with the law. It was a little hard to believe. "I see. And what, pray tell, are the little things that got you in trouble?"

The bit with the scouts wasn't surprising either. Though one thing did stick out. "I presume the other option was to return to Fólkvangr? If, so I can understand why you have chosen to come here." She was a little envious as she hadn't really been given a choice on where to go.

His signature lopsided grin came out. It was pretty amusing to mention on an island such as this as to what got him in trouble with the law, but made complete sense in the narrow. Kinda.
"Well, my ability that lets me create illusions to visually accompany my words aren't a thing in the Narrow Reality. The police and others thought I was selling drugs and or drugging people and making them hallucinate."
Stefan chuckled at the not so long gone memory.
'And yea, I could of gone home, or here. Figured I'd check the island out and see what it held. I can always go back home if I want to. But I found a place here. At least for now."

Sylvi

Sylvi just laughed. "You cannot be serious. You got in trouble for that?" From the way Stefan had talked about it, Sylvi had thought maybe he had stolen, or assaulted someone. But some illusions in the narrow reality was all it took?

"Do they not know about magic? And I am fairly certain that there are so called 'street magicians' who deal in illusions. Did they not get in trouble too?" Sylvi asked, before glancing down towards her phone. "And I had thought that mortals were smart." she muttered to herself.

Stefan laughed along with her. In the grand scheme of things it was rather amusing. Her comparison wasn't completely fair to either himself, or the other street magicians.
"Street magicians use sleight of hand to give the appearance of magic. I use actual illusions. They still get in trouble, but for busking. Not making people 'hallucinate.'"
Stefan shook his head and took another sip.
"No they don't know about magic there. That in and of itself proves they are smart to me. Look what all they have accomplished without magic."

Sylvi

"I see. Perhaps the comparison was not the best, my apologies. It is still amusing to think about." Sylvi said, though she felt street magicians were close enough to what Stefan did for it not to matter.

"And yet in spite of all they have done, they still remain ignorant of many things." Sylvi said, sipping on her beer. "Many even doubt our existence." She said with a hint of bitterness.

"But, mortals aside. What else have you been up to? I believe you mentioned a date?"

Stefan nodded. She had a fair point. They had accomplished much, but still remained almost willfully ignorant to the world around them. It was hard to understand how a people so curious, could be fearful of so much.
"Yea I did. My girlfriend, Zoraida. I actually bumped into her on my first day on the island. Literally actually. We hit it off really well, and things have been amazing ever since. Even took her back home to meet mom. Of course that turned into a whole thing. You know how those things go."
The demi-god chuckled at the memory. It was a good memory. One he was glad they made and he could hold onto.

Sylvi

Sylvi nodded as Stefan spoke. While she might not have agreed with his decision to date someone from the island, a mortal no less, she was certainly interested to hear about who had won Stefans affections.

She nearly spit out her beer when Stefan said he took her up to Fólkvangr. "You took her up to Fólkvangr? A mortal no less! Is that not forbidden?" Sylvi asked incredulously. She would never dream of bringing someone who was still alive to Valhalla.

Stefan chuckled at the response. He understood full well the ramifications of bringing Zora home would have. He also never tended to fully get why things were the way they were, but he always figured that was the moral side of him.
"I did. But if things keep going how they are, she'll be family. I wanted mom to meet her and see what she thought. I also wanted to make sure she would be alright with all of our...traditions."
Stefan sipped his drink and spoke very casual. He had mellowed out a good deal since leaving home, and speaking candidly with kin helped him relax further.

Sylvi

Sylvi laughed at that. "Well, I would be lying if I tried to say it is not for the best that she knows what she is getting in to. Our traditions are not for the faint of heart." While she couldn't speak to Fólkvangr, any mortal visiting Valhalla would certainly be in for a rough time.

She'd take a deep breath before looking towards Stefan. "However, I do feel that need ask. Whatever do you mean by if things keep going the way they are, she'll be family?" Sylvi asked, biting her tongue to prevent herself from asking if Stefan was really suggesting that he was going as far as to marry Zora.
