It had to happen eventually. Stefan was honestly surprised he hadn't met any other 'family' since he had been on the island. He had received word from his mother that one had made their way to the island, and he kept an ear out for anything about them since then.

When he heard of a valkyrie making the rounds, he had to check it out. Sure enough, it was Sylvi. Daughter of Thor, she definitely had his attitude, even from the short meeting they had. Deciding to try to help her out a bit, Stefan had agreed to meet her at a bar later to give some tips on the island.

That's what had brought him to the current bar he was at. Having messaged her the location and name of the place, he showed up at the agreed time and had already ordered himself a Moscow Mule and sat back relaxing and waiting for his niece to arrive.

Sylvi

Of all the people Sylvi had guessed she would meet when she was sent to Manta Carlos. Freyja's son, Stefan, wasn't even on the list. She had barely known him when she was growing up, and when he left, she barely noticed.

But now, things were different. Stefan had spent time in the narrow reality. She had spent almost none, outside of her duties as a Valkyrie. And it showed. So when her uncle had offered to give her some pointers, she didn't hesitate to take the offer.

Running a little late after getting lost, she entered and took a quick look around the bar, before spotting Stefan. "Hello." She said, taking an open seat and ordering herself a beer. "The island is more difficult to navigate then I expected, which is why I'm late."

Stefan smiled as Sylvi sat down by him and ordered a drink. He had actually had the same thing happen to him on his first date with Zoraida. He had trouble finding his way and showed up late.
"It happens. Actually my first date here I was late to for the same thing. Tall about first impressions right?"
A small chuckle came out as he sipped his drink. He had offered to help Sylvi because he remembered his time in the narrow. It had been rough.

Sylvi

Sylvi blinked when Stefan said he'd gone on a date. Dating between mortals and immortals was something that was generally frowned upon, at least back home. But, Stefan was Freyja's son, and a half mortal himself, so if it was going to be anyone, she guessed it would be him.

"One would think the children of the gods wouldn't struggle with directions. And yet, here we are." Sylvi answered with a chuckle.

Stefan joined in on her chuckle. It was true. They could travel the realms over. Fight mythical creatures. Guide the dead to the afterlife. All of these fantastic things that have stories told over and over about, but yet finding their way across town was a challenge.
"You'll get used to it. It really isn't as bad as some cities I've been to. Manta Carlos is set up really nicely."
He took a sip of his drink in it's iconic copper cup before settling back into his seat again. He had noticed the look Sylvi had given, but she thankfully didn't bring it up. Stefan was well aware of the nature of dating a mortal. He had lived and grown up the bastard of that situation. But like his mother, he thought completely different about it.
"So what's the most pressing thing you want to know? We can start there and then get into more detailed things."

Sylvi

Sylvi took a sip of her beer as she thought over Stefans question. What was the most pressing she want to ask about? She definitely wanted to know about what exactly lived on the island, since she was quickly learning there were more species than those she knew of on the island. Even of those she knew, they weren't anything like what she knew them as.

Then there was the question of the social norms of the island. She had spent her whole life living amongst gods, Valkyries, and warriors, her social skills left something to be desired. And she doubted she make many friends by fighting people.

"Mmm.. I suppose my first question would be to ask how comparable Manta Carlos is too Fólkvangr, or even Valhalla for that matter." Best to start with something simple. And if she learned of some similarities, she could start with what she knew, and ease into the more complicated parts of the island.

Differences between here and home. Unfortunately there were a lot. But there was a lot in common too. What would be the most pressing things to know trying to fit into this society?
"Well. There's isn't a hierarchy like home. No singular person is in charge of everything. It's all governed by the total society. Basically nobody is better than another just based on who or what they are."
This was one that hit Stefan hard in the narrow reality. He had been so used to being regarded as 'Frejya's Boy' and treated differently, that when he was just another face in the crowd, it was a hard adjustment.
"But...some of the parties here can get just as wild as back home, even without some of the formalities. A lot of people are actually rather interested in our culture and traditions. Being open minded can really go a long way."

Sylvi

"Hmpf. Speak for yourself." Sylvi said with a frown when Stefan said no-one on the island was better than anyone else. While Stefan may have been dismissed as "Freyja's boy" Sylvi had had a much different experience. Especially since her mother was a Valkyrie, and her father was Thor himself. She had practically been raised to be a Valkyrie. It was something she took pride in, and definitely something she thought made her better than other people.

"I would take it that fighting is generally a bad idea at these parties?" She asked. Fighting was a big part of the parties in Valhalla, but it generally seemed like less of a good idea on the island.

"Actually, speaking of fights. Is there anywhere where I would be allowed to fight?" The spear she could summon wasn't just for show, and she could more than hold her own in a fight. And she didn't want to get rusty. But she also didn't want to pick fights with everyone she met. She'd only backed down from the Dragon because it seemed like a really bad idea to get into a fight with the second person she met.

Stefan couldn't help but laugh at her response. It seemed appropriate but she would learn one way or another. He just hoped nothing bad happened by the time she did figure it out.
"You sure are Thor's daughter. Attitude and all."
He took another sip of his drink before thinking about her question. Stefan had to be careful how he answered this.
"How we fight? Yes. Proprietors don't particularly like when their businesses and items get broken and destroyed but there are plenty feats of strength that still happen at parties."
Somewhere she could actually fight? Oh absolutely. This actually seemed like it would be right up Sylvi's alley.
"Oh the Arena. They have actual sanctioned fights for prizes as well as any challenge fights you would want. That would be a great place to check out. Could really make a name for yourself there if you live up to your father's name."

Sylvi

Sylvi couldn't help but smirk when Stefan suggested that she could make a name for herself in the arena. "That sounds perfect." She said before nearly jumping out of her seat when Stefan seemed to imply she wouldn't live up to her fathers name. "And of course I would live up to his name! I'm his daughter!" She huffed. "I doubt I'd ever lose to mortals, even with their magic." Sylvi said with a frown. Before taking a deep breath, and a drink of her beer to collect herself.

"Though, I would assume it would be folly to assume I would only be facing mortals. So it's only fitting that I ask what species of creatu.. er, people.. What species of people live on Manta Carlos?"
