Morgana smiled at Ekya's efforts in writing his name in the sand. He was much more considerate than she had been to Selkiris. Whoops. She'd have to remember the upside down and backwards part for next time she was caught without her notebook.
"Nice to meet you, Ekya! You look young, do you attend the academy?" The fae paused seeing him seem to search for something then smiled and flipped her notepad to a new page, quickly scribbled a new note, and handed it up to the centaur. "We can both use mine if you'd like. I also was taught "asl" by one of the Scouts when I got dragged here. I'm not great with it, but I'm learning."
That was when she noted Selkiris's apparent lack of interest in the conversation. The teacher pursed her lips like she was dealing with a difficult student who refused to dirty their hands in her class and kicked some sand up at their shins, if they had shins, and put her hands on her hips glowering at him. She raised a hand and made a "bill" that she flapped to indicate talking then pointed her finger at Selkiris, then Ekya, then herself. They would not ruin her plan for escape from people waiting for her to talk. No, no. They were key to it. Now they'd do their part or she'd know why.
