A Date With A Dragon

Faye was beaming with joy, radiating her happiness through her smile and glowing aura. Even though she tried not to show it, it was obvious how excited she was to be at the beach. Faye grew up being a next door neighbor to the ocean, and felt comfortable to be upon it's presence once again. What made Faye even more enlightened was the fact that she got to spend the day at the beach with Theron, a very heart warming dragon that she appreciated dearly. Walking side by side with him, Faye felt like she was truly where she wanted to be. The seagulls flew above their heads crowing peaceful tunes, the sound of the waves felt calming as they washed up against the shore, and the sound of joyful people and creatures alike busily ticking the time away with fun activities. There were so many things to do and see, and Faye was more than happy to be spending that time with Theron.

But despite the fact that Faye was feeling happier than usual, she couldn't help but feel nervous and cautious of her actions at the same time. Faye did have some small outings before that didn't really count as dates, but this was her first actual real date. She knew she felt some sort of connection to this boy, but never thought of the fact that she would fall for him. Maybe her heart was playing with her emotions a bit; maybe this was a silly crush that would eventually move on. But Faye could never turn away the thought of Theron and her actually being together. The thought always made her feel hot in the face, as the edge of her nose turned a rosy red. Was this the boy that she could give her heart to? Was Theron a broken dragon she could fix?

Faye always thought about those questions when he was around, but never went into answering them. She instead wanted to focus on the present details of their friendship. And today, a date at the beach sounded fun to Faye.

"So many possibilities! So many things that we can do!" What do you want to do first?" Faye gave a gentle smile and bounced up and down on her toes, trying to contain her excitement. "We could go for a swim or maybe set up for our picnic?" Her eyes grew soft and her cheeks had a small red tint.

No past, doesn't mean no future. A date, it felt strange dating again, after things had ended with Hazel, but he was determined to move forward.

He wore a gray long sleeve shirt, with black shorts, a pctic basket in his right hand. He smiled happily, her energy was refreshing and seemed to work well with his his calmer demeanour. "Thank you for coming," he grinned a bit, "it's nice to get out of the lair."

He looked out over the ocean, the beautiful water, it looked so nice, "lets set up real quick, then we'll swim." Taking her hand in his they headed toward the sand.

"I don't remember ever seeing the ocean before I came here," he said as he said up their picnic, he grinned "it's beautiful, though not as beautiful you."

He hesitated for a second as he went to pull his shirt off, then taking a big breath his pulled it off, he had several x-shaped scars on his arms and abdomen, and of course he couldn't remember where they came from.

Setting up for the picnic first was a reasonable decision, and Faye was up for the idea. But before Faye could give an ok, Theron took her hand in his and led them to their spot. Faye's heart was thumping out of her chest and got worried that Theron would hear it. She could not stop looking at their intertwined hands as they made their way to the sand. It was almost perfect, how their hands linked together; how they fit perfectly like puzzle pieces. Faye felt protected and safe when Theron held her hand, and she suddenly felt like the luckiest person in the world.

Walking on sand was like walking on a giant pillow. Faye felt so free when she removed her blue flip-flops after they settled in. Something about standing on beach sand barefooted felt satisfying. "Yeah, never knew the ocean here was beautiful to the eyes."

After setting up their picnic, Faye then caught Theron grinning at her, then shortly after...he stated how beautiful she was. Her heart pumped louder and she felt it crawl up to her throat. No one had ever compared her to the breathtaking, marvelous ocean water. Faye bit her lip while smiling awkwardly, and her face turned a bright red. "Oh come on you can't compare--the ocean is way more pretty I mean--um...I-I guess thanks---let's just swim now!" Faye couldn't say anymore unless she wanted to choke on her own words again. She was grateful for the compliment and simply just wanted to say thank you, but felt happily flustered when the compliment came from Theron.

Faye slipped off her mint dress, revealing a purple one-piece swimsuit with tiny seashells printed on it. Her toes danced in the sand as she couldn't hold back the excitement. But as Theron removed his shirt, Faye froze, gluing her eyes to his body...Scars scattered on his arms and abdomen, and Faye stood shook. She glanced over at Theron, as he looked sad. Faye's eyes began to crunch up with tears. How could someone do this to such a friendly dragon? At that moment, nothing was stopping Faye from making that day a good memory. She wanted to show Theron she was grateful.

She came close to him and hugged him gently, laying her head on his shoulder. She didn't care where they came from, how they got there, or who did it. All she cared about was that Theron was safe now. Faye spoke quietly and smiled, "thank you for calling me beautiful." She then released the hug and held out her hand. "Come on, let's go!"

He was surprised when she hugged him, but his frown became a smile and hugged back. "I should be thanking you," his smile grew into a grin. This girl made him happy, like his amnesia didn't matter.

Nodding he took her hand, and together they headed for the water. As they reached the edge he took a breath turning his ice on, that way the water's cold temperature wouldn't bother him. He grinned again, "let's dive in," he quickly kissed her cheek and dived into the water.

Aa he hit the water he turned and floated on the water, smiling at her. "The water feels great," he motioned for her to join him. He layed back and floated on the water, he felt alive, truly alive.

They stood near the edge of the ocean, their feet just inches away from the water. But before diving in, Theron bent over close to Faye and kissed her gently on the cheek. Faye's eyes widened and she quickly felt her face get hot. She placed her hand on her cheek and blinked in surprise as Theron headed for the water. First, a compliment, and now a kiss. Butterflies were fluttering in her stomach as she shook her head. "This boy is surely something." She smiled and giggled at the ground, her hand still on her cheek. Something about this made Faye feel like she was a little girl with a cute crush on a boy. She couldn't help the thought of that kiss being on her lips.

It should have been on my lips...

The end of Faye's nose turned red as she tried to shake away the stupid thought. Faye looked up towards the ocean as she saw Theron relaxed in the water, floating calmly on the surface. She smiled, and the butterflies became more excited. "Alright, I'm coming in!" Faye dipped her feet in the water and slowly emerged deeper in the ocean. The water felt so refreshing and full of life. Public pools were a lot of fun, but it wasn't every day you got to swim in the ocean.

Once she reached Theron, she laughed and smiled, feeling the happiest she's ever been in a while. "The water does feel great!" Faye hadn't been that happy since the day she went swimming with her father back on her planet. Swimming with Theron reminded her of those days; those days when she was a little girl with an enthusiastic heart. It was like she was reliving that memory, only with another person that she loved.

After swimming around together for some time, an idea popped into Faye's mind. Considering how happy she was, maybe it was her turn to surprise Theron. "Hey Theron, watch this." Faye smiled and swam a little further away from him. She had to make sure she had some space around her.

Keeping afloat, Faye closed her eyes and breathed slowly, relaxing her muscles. She then began to glow, as the light coming from her body reflected on the water's surface. Faye's body started to change as the light became more and more stronger. Then, the light started to subside, and it was now visible that Faye was no longer in human form. Faye shapeshifted into a tiny pink otter. She swam a bit closer to Theron, making sure she was not to scare him. "Don't worry, it's still me. But now I'm an otter!" She giggled as she made a few spins making the water splash around her. "So, what do you think?"

He blinked through the glow, and was very surprised when Faye became a tiny pink otter. "That's amazing," swimming over to her he gently put his hand on her head, "you're adorable." This girl seemed so full of surprises, she made him happy.

Grinning happily he started swimming around her, playing with her. Needless to say, the young dragon was very much enjoying himself. His depression seem to have faded, and had been replaces with new happiness.

He floated around on his back, smiling brightly at Faye, "thank you, I really needed this." He dived underneath and resurfaced beside her.

When Theron petted her, Faye snuggled her head into his hand and smiled with delight. "Aww, thank you!" She squeaked and swam around Theron a few times.

The two played together in the water for god knows how long. They swam around, splashed each other, and did other fun activities an otter and dragon would do. During that time, Faye took small glances at Theron and saw that he was enjoying himself. Faye was happy that he was happy, and she glowed with joy.

"Of course, I would never miss the opportunity to hang at the beach with you." Faye grinned in return and made a tiny squeak. She knew that Theron must've had a rough past (not mentioning the scars) and still is recovering from it. But she also knew that Theron was strong, and was healing fast when spending time with her. She was happy to be of help to him.

As Theron resurfaced beside her, she smiled and blushed a bit. "I wanna thank you for inviting me! I'm fairly new here, so I don't have many friends." And that was true. Being a new student at Starlight Academy gave Faye so much anxiety. But shortly after arriving, she met this boy and it changed her world completely. Faye slightly backed up and shifted back into her human form. "Hey, do want to eat now? I'm pretty hungry from all that swimming." She pointed at their picnic spot and looked over at Theron, her eyes brightly shining.

He smiled and nodded, "yea let's head out." He swam toward the beach gesturing for her to follow, "I'm hungry too."

Aa he stepped onto the sand he formed a fireball in his hand and ran it along his skin, drying himself. "That was nice, been too long sense I went for a swim," he smiled at her, "here, this should help," he stepped close, using his fire element he warmed his body up, "should help you dry faster." He was comfortable around her, like there was nothing wrong with the world, some would say it wasn't good to start dating so soon after a breakup, but he couldn't help liking this girl.

Once they were both dried he took her hand and led her to their picnic. He took a seat and patted the spot next to him for her, "hope you don't mind but we dragons are big eaters," he also ate raw meat often but decided not to mention that yet. He set the basket in front of them, "so....next month there's going to be a love cruise, are you going?"

Faye followed Theron to shore, and gathered all her soaked up hair, squeezing it dry like a wet towel. When she emerged out of the water, it was a bit breezy which made her body shiver, but she tried not to get bothered by it. Once she got on land, Faye watched as Theron formed a fireball in his hand, running it over his body. She inspected that he was drying himself off or warming up after the swim. Theron then came close to her and dried off her body as well. "Oh! Thank you." She froze like a statue, worrying that the fire would burn her. But Faye kept watch at Theron's steady hand and face, and her muscles relaxed, as the cool breeze wasn't pestering her anymore. This boy was so generous and his hospitality made Faye feel so safe. He cared for her....like it was instinct.

Theron took her hand once more and led her to their picnic blanket. Faye took a seat next to Theron, sitting cross-legged, and rubbed her hands together. "Ohhh I can't wait, I'm starving." She smiled at Theron's direction and laughed after his gesture. "Oh that's fine. Eat as much as you'd like!" She smiled assuringly and clasped her hands together. As Theron took out the basket in front of them, all Faye could do was smile. Theron was pretty attractive for a dragon. His brown hair and green eyes made him look like a dream. Faye's face grew slightly red as she thought of this, and she looked towards the sea trying not to show it. This day felt like a dream, but Faye knew this was all real.

As they started to set up, Faye grew surprised as to what Theron said. She never knew there was a love cruise hosted here. It sounded so fun and perfect for a lovely get away. Maybe the reason why Theron asked was if he could go with her. But would that make them an official couple? Faye thought for awhile, but then quickly realized she did not give an answer yet. "I actually never heard of this love cruise, but it sounds fun! Maybe you and I can be an official couple, and go together?" Faye smiled, but then quickly dropped her jaw realizing what she just said.

Her face turned a deep red as she shifted in her spot, sweating nervously. "Why did I just say that?! Was I in a daze? Oh You dumb idiot Faye," she thought. All she knew was that she just made herself look like a total idiot in front of Theron. Of course, she wanted to go with him on the love cruise after hearing about it, but saying that they should be an official couple right away got her embarrassed. "Um...I mean yeah...haha...love cruise. It sounds fun, maybe I can go haha...next month right..yeah haha.."Faye started twirling a strand of her hair, wondering what Theron was going to say.

He blinked a bit in shock at her words, they were unexpected to say the least. He thought for a second, an unreadable look on his face.

He looked to her smiled and nodded, "yea, that sounds great." He scooted close to her and held her hand, "but there are some things you should know. One: some people might give us weird looks if they know my ex, sense it hasn't been that long sense we broke up, and Two: I have amnesia, can't remember anything from before six years ago." He felt it was only fair that she be aware of those things.

He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, "but tea, if you're willing to put up with me, then I'd like us to be together," being around her made him happy, calm.

He leaned in a bit, "we'll go to the cruise together, it'll be fun." He looked into her eyes, those unique eyes, and then he closed the distance and kissed her.
