Wess ran along the beach. He hadn't been to a beach... ever? The tide was on the rise, and night was in full swing. The moon was heavy and peeking over the horizon of the water. A lovely sight, the kind that was placed in a frame and hung high over royal tables.

Wesley stopped running and stood tall, staring at the moon, head cocked to the right, and chest rising with frantic breathing. He'd never felt this excited. Not for as long as he could recall. He wanted to do something crazy, like howl or dance around.

The Wendigo looked over his shoulder for Claire, grinning toothily. "Look, you see that? You see the moon! It's gorgeous. I don't get to see this in the forest..."

Maybe it hadn't been the best choice for Claire to bring Wess out. He was social, he ate people, and he could only go out at night. If anyone were to see him, Claire was sure that they would scream and run the other way. Though, as if Wess was her very own puppy dog, he ran across the beach like it was his territory. For him though, this wasn't somewhere that he could go whenever he wanted to. When Claire asked him to perhaps go somewhere other than the forest, her mind went to the beach. It was somewhere that she felt safe around, as the water calmed her.

"Yeah you don't. Go on and enjoy it Wess." The wolf girl smiled at how excited he sounded. There was something about seeing the Wendigo so happy that made her mind at ease. Rolling her shoulders very carefully, she closed her eyes when the pain hit her, as thoughts of that night rang into her mind. "I love to look out at the ocean and the moon too. There is something very relaxing about it." With a short giggle, she continued on. "SO I'm very glad you enjoy it here."

Wess chased the waves when they pulled back and jumped away when they rolled forward, like an animal. He was bouncing around on all fours, rather than two feet and having a good old time rolling around in the sand.

He rolled onto his back and stared up at the stars, the moon. Listened to the sound of waves crashing against the pier, stones, and beach. In the far distance, the twinkling lights of the pier-side carnival shone, adding to the magical, move-esque feel of the moment.

Wesley looked up at Claire and pat the sand beside him. He was lying so when the waves rolled in they lapped around him.

Oh wasn't he just like a puppy dog? Claire laughed as she watched him from a difference. He reminded her of her when she has first seen the ocean. Even though her phone had been on her, she had jumped into and lathered herself in her element. It felt like a home she never knew she needed. This same relaxation came to her as her ankles dipped in the water every time the tide came up. This island was the only home she needed.

Giving her boyfriend a very bright smile, her body plopped gently beside his. "Pretty, right?" The stars were very bright on that night; thankfully there was no clouds to block the view that they shared. Claire leaned her head against his shoulder as she gazed at the beauty of the sky. "I'm glad that you're here with me. I've always wanted to watch the stars with someone."

Wess stiffened momentarily when Claire rested her head on his shoulder. He listened harder to the sound of waves and let them take him somewhere. A place where he didn't want to consume his girlfriend. The thought was nice enough to make Wesley smile.

"I'm glad to be here. There's still a part of me that would feel more comfortable deep in the forest -- alone. It's hard to fight that part, you know? I sometimes wonder what I would be like, or what my life would have been like without all of.... this."

She could feel the tension in his body as she rested on him. Of course, this wasn't what she wanted at all; she didn't want everything she did to maybe trigger his animal side. They were dating now, and she didn't think it was normal for one person to constantly be thinking about eating the other. There was no romance or trust there at all, but that was something that they both had to slowly learn. What an odd couple they were.

"I get that yeah. I get that feel a lot at school actually, or at work, or really, whenever I'm not either by water or the forest. It's going away from your home so of course it's going to feel weird." Claire moved her head off of him, resting it a few inches away from where it had previously been. "I mean, without all that you wouldn't have met me, and you wouldn't be on this island either." It was a sad thought, but the same was true with her. With out her powers, she would still be with some foster family that she didn't like. No, even though this island was crazy, it was much better.

Wesley idly wondered what it would be like to go to school, or work. It made him realize how little he and Claire knew about each other. Wesley reached over and toyed with a strand of Claire's hair, twining it around one of his long, clawed fingers. The Wendigo hummed thoughtfully.

"How old are you? What's school like? Where do you work?" Up until now, Wess had understood she did these things -- work, school, likely socialize -- but their lives hadn't been normal, and thus, the dating process was... unique, as well.

"We don't know much about each other. I want to change that, while things are calm."

These moments would most likely seem like nothing to someone else, but just being able to be this close to Wess was magical for her. Having a boyfriend hat had a knack for eating your kind wasn't every girls dream. Yes, she could most likely date something that was less terrifying; something that would be more human and likable. No, though Claire did have a few options, there was nothing that she wanted more than to be with Wesley. He was exactly what she needed and there was no need to replace him for something lesser.

"Oh..." That seemed to have came out of nowhere, so it took a second for her to think of he answers. "I'm seventeen. Young I know." it made her wonder as to what their real age difference was. "School is... Eh. I will be happy when I'm done it next year. What a waste of time." Claire appreciated the chance to be able to go to school, but at this point and considering how busy she was; her time spent at school wasn't worth it. "And I work at Wake & Eat, as a guide for D'Emerius's restaurant, and a 'whenever I want to' employee for Winni Pinnie's Pet Shop. When I do go there I act as a bridge for people that want to talk to their pets." A lot of information was coming out about her, bu now it was his turn to spill some information.

"I'm glad you want to change that, because that's uh- well it's important that we aren't strangers to one another." The wolf girl thought.. What did she really want to know about her boyfriend? "Well, for starters, how old are you? I need to know if I'm dating an old fart, yeah?" Her giggle was sincere and playful, which made the air around them a bit more relaxed. "Do you have any dreams? Or goals or some sappy shit?"

Someone else, someone more social, would have told Claire school was important and she was lucky that Manta Carlos' college was free. Wess was not that person. He didn't remember enough about school or society to consider this response, so instead, he nodded in understanding.

Wesley didn't laugh at her joke, instead, he searched his mind for the answer. "Hm... Well, I've been here for.... decades, I believe. I never had a watch, sorry, but it's been a long time. I was only two or so years older than you before... this.

"Dreams? Like goals? Yes, now. I didn't use to. Before, I was just focusing on surviving, getting by, keeping my mind. Now I want to get back out into society, get a job, try things and learn again. I want... I want to be more normal again.

"I remember being a forest ranger before it all. The kind that had to live out in the mountains -- that was my division. I loved it. The wilderness. I always felt so free out there." He smiled bitterly. "ironic, right?"

"Ah." It wasn't really a surprised to Claire that she was indeed, dating an older man. Wendigos had a weird aging factor, and even though he kind of looked like he was in his early twenties, there was obviously a lot more years that just didn't show for him. This fact didn't scare her away at all. It was just nice to know that there was a very big age gap between them. No matter. "More like a calendar, sweetie." She gave him a sincere smile because he was just adorable.

This part of their talk frightened her more. He wanted a job, and to go back into society? It scared her, really, because that just meant that their time together would become less and less. Even as it was now, the only time that they could spend together was at night. Claire had two jobs, school and a few moderate friends to socialize with, but now there was Wess. Wess was way more important that school or money or okay friends. They were close and frankly; Claire was only a few dates away from being in love for the first time. She got butterflies whenever she got the chance to be close to him. Yeah, their relationship was one the weirder side, but there was nothing more special to her than being with him. "And I'll help you." Her words were a struggle to get out.

"A forest ranger huh, yeah that's pretty fucking ironic." There was still warmth in her heart, even though her mind was preoccupied by the fact that her boyfriend wanted to be more civil than she did. Why couldn't he just stay a beast? She turned her body towards him, wanting so badly just to be able to hold him. "What are you going to do about..." Her hand grazed his chest. "This issue?"
