Michi snapped back into reality as soon as Rowan called her name. "Huh? Oh... yeah. Voices just said something weird," she said. Less disturbed, more curious, but Michi let Rowan guide her to the side as she pondered. It wasn't the same voices whispering, though she knew this wouldn't have been the first time the voice said something off from their usual. "Sorry about that," Michi mumbled, "I asked to get magic lessons so I could figure out something to stop the effects from our ritual -- or at least make it more possible for everyone to control them, but I think I'm still far off from that." She wasn't particularly doing as bad as her first lessons, but she still had bumps on the road every so often. More so, she still was no closer to making a spell to give them full control over their abilities.

Michi looked at their hands when she felt Rowan squeeze her own. It was comforting somehow, reminding her she had company. That she wasn't alone in their own battle. Michi nodded with understanding before looking up at him with a soft smile. "Don't worry, I'm being careful," she said, saying it so confidently despite not knowing the truth about her own condition. "Won't stop me from trying though. I'll figure something out; and in no time, we'll be in full control of our abilities," she continued, echoing her mentor's teaching. Michi stood up straight, looking back at Rowan with a more relaxed smile. "Shall we go back there then?" she asked, nodding her head towards the crowd of dancers. By the time they'd returned to the dance floor, her conversation with Lizzy had been pushed back to the back of her mind.

Michi seemed to have relaxed for a while until the word 'date' echoed into her ears, amplified by the whispers of her mind. Suddenly she remembered where she was; suddenly she was aware of her movements again. She forced a smile on her face, trying to hide the nervousness that washed back into her. "H-here we are," she managed to stammer out. Michi'd always thought Rowan as her friend, especially since he was the first one she made since her parents separated. She ended up moving away with her mom, so she didn't have any other option but to make new friends -- one thing she knew wasn't good at. She didn't think there would be anything like a crush happening. As her thoughts spiralled, so did the voices, drowning out any subtle thoughts and movements around her. Michi paused in her steps as Rowan finished his sentence, looking almost (childishly) offended, "Rowan, of course! You're like... one of he most important people to me. I'd always have your back," she stated, not really sure where the conversation was headed.

Michi gave Rowan a wry smile, trying to hide any bit of her awkwardness with that smile and deciding not to say more other than a soft "Thank you." She couldn't really say more; if anything she'd been keeping more things to herself since they started staying in the island, but the offer itself was a comfort. She moved along with the music, Rowan at the lead, her eyes averted and avoiding looking at Rowan. For a moment, her thoughts faded in and out, listening to the music, then later the chatter in her mind. Rowan's voice seemingly pulled her out of the loop, though not fully, so when Rowan leaned in, she wasn't ready for the aftermath. By the time her mind was fully in sync with the present, she'd realized Rowan had kissed her and she was just frozen in place. Her mind was blank, but in contrast, the voices were in an uproar, completely shutting her out from the present. Her first response would have been to pull away, but the chatter in her mind overwhelmed her. Michi's body didn't respond in accordance. Instead, what she saw were lines of light from the corners of her eyes, only visible to her through her training. But this time, they weren't aimed to a rune, but Rowan.

Michi could have ignore the lights and pretended it was just the room's. Oh, she sure could have, but the reaction from Rowan told her otherwise. The boy took steps back from her, breaking contact with her and at once she realized what she'd done. "Rowan..!" she gasped, attempting to reach out to him to check but seeing her friend look disoriented reminded her that no -- this was her work. Her fault. And so Michi held her hands to herself, looking around her. A few eyes seemed to look towards them with curious looks before turning away. She turned back to her friend with concern laced through her expression. "Rowan, are you hurt?" she asked in a hushed voice. Before she could ask more, Rowan spoke, turning a question towards her. "S-sorry," she managed to stammer out, "I... I think that was my magic. It's... harder to pull together than before. It looks like it went haywire there for a bit but I'm okay; don't worry. But what about you?" she asked him. Her hands seem to hover over Rowan's shoulders before she pulled it back to herself again. "Did it hurt you?"
