Private Finished A Dance For The Eldritch Touched

Michi sighed seeing Rowan seem to have taken it better. She stiffened a bit when Rowan held her hand, but she didn't pull away and let him hold it. She felt him squeeze her hand, but as far as she knew, she couldn't even feel her hand in his. For a moment the thought occurred to her. 'He felt my magic though...?' "That's... curious..." she mused aloud, not aware she had voiced out her thoughts. Her eyes followed Rowan and realized they were getting looks again, prompting her to pull them both to the side. "Um. Yeah. My mentor taught me a new style on how to use magic. I haven't exactly tried it on my... other skill yet. Up until I finish the basics down pat. But now it kind of goes all over the place when I don't watch what I'm doing." She was only thankful she wasn't carrying any runes. Now that could have gotten messy. Rowan reminding her about the kiss put a blush back on her face, so visible even though the lighting of the hall. "W-well. Maybe you should have!" she stammered. Considering her first attempts almost always exploded in her face... "You could have been seriously hurt..."

Michi's expression softened, seeing as Rowan was unhurt after all. Curious case aside, she couldn't help but worry first. She didn't want to start hurting people especially since she started her magic studies to do the opposite of that. On the other hand, that was a route she could consider exploring once she finally perfects the basics... on some other occasion. Awkwardly, Michi tried to pull her hands back to herself as their conversation veers towards unfamiliar grounds. She knew it was coming but even so, she was hoping it wouldn't just because she couldn't figure out how to handle it. Ever since starting her magic lessons, she pushed the conversation with Lizzy to the back of her mind. But now here she was. "Ah, that..." Michi's voice was caught in her throat, holding her hands against her chest as if to comfort her. It wasn't that she didn't like Rowan but she still couldn't wrap her head around the idea. Lizzy told her to just tell him how she feels but even then, she didn't really know what that was. The further she lingered on the thought, the noisier her head only got.

Rowan's voice pulled her back to the present, reminding her she was in the middle of a conversation. She mentally cursed herself, blaming herself for still not being in control of the voices of her mind. The could still get the best of her, and that was unacceptable. Michi turned to Rowan with a strained smile -- the best she could put on right at this second. She couldn't get a word out still for another few seconds, and the voices only seemed to rub that in her face through their taunting whispers. She did eventually manage to find her voice, feeling Rowan take her hand into his again. She took a deep breath, trying to search for her voice. "I-I'm fine," she stammered out. "Sorry, but could I think about it a little bit?" she said after a moment's pause. Michi seemed to hesitate. clear that she wanted to say more. She tried to find the words to explain to Rowan what was going on in her mind. "I-I know Lizzy told you she's already told me about the crush and all but... I didn't really want to think about it. So, I really haven't... thought about it at all."

The voices in Michi's mind kept her from noticing what she should have. Kept her from noticing that little hitch in Rowan's smile; kept her from noticing how he seemed to have stilled after her reply, despite their hands touching. It was such a minor detail, but it had probably meant so much in the moment. And Michi failed to notice. "Thanks, Rowan," she told him, returning the light squeeze in response. "I'm sorry you'll have to wait for me for this," she added, in a near whisper that Rowan could have easily missed. As much as she didn't want to confuse herself with talk about relationships, she also didn't want to hurt her dear friend. She kept a smile for him nonetheless. "Well, a dance is a dance. We can keep dancing for a little bit more. Third time's the charm?" she said, laughing along with him, this time taking the lead to bring them back among the dancers. For now, she wanted to keep her stormy thoughts at bay and what better for her than to dance along with the music of the night. As she and Rowan danced, Rowan could hear her quietly hum to the music. "The ice cream can wait too."
