A Clean Dorm

As he unlocked the door to his dorm and swung it open, Eek cast a quick glance around them to make sure no one was around before he grinned at Nax. "Well, we're here," he said, stating the obvious.

Just then someone stepped out into the hall, and Eek was forced to push Nyax into the dorm, coming in also, and shut the door. He quickly locked the door so no one would be able to come in, before turning back to her.

He hoped she'd like the place. It was a spacious room because Eek hadn't brought many belongings with him when he had first come to the academy. And it was clean, because he absolutely hated a mess and having things out of place. Even now he reached up and adjusted his hat that was falling off his head.

"I...like it..."

Eek was glad. He was very glad. If she had hated it, he wasn't sure what he'd have done.

"You have a nice room,"

Eek grinned. "Thanks." He went over to his closet--which was right next to the spare bed--to get a new shirt to wear. He gave her a slight smile before burying his head in the little closet.

"Thanks for letting me stay here!"

At those words, Eek picked a plain white t-shirt and turned around to grin at her. But when he saw small tear streaks on her cheaks he dropped the shirt and knelt beside the bed. Hesitantly he lifted his hand and wiped the tears away with his thumb. "No need to cry over it," he said softly.

"Oh, sorry!"

"No need to apologize," He murmured, stroking the hair away from her face. Why he was doing it, he wasn't sure. He just felt compelled to do it.

"Crap,"

"What?" He turned her face toward him to see what was wrong, only to have to try and hide a grin. Immediately he gabbed the white abandoned shirt off the ground and wiped the smears away.

"But...are you sure?!...I mean...your shirt..."

Eek grinned softly at her sleepy tone. He nodded and threw the shirt at the floor of his closet. "It has a hole in it anyways. And I have more of them."

Slowly, he leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on her brow before standing. He went over to his bed and took his shirt and shoes off, but kept his jeans on. Then he slipped under the bed sheet and tried to get to sleep.

The next morning Eek woke up and yawned widely. He sat up and scratched his chest--the place right over his heart where his tattoo was. Looking over to the bed where Nyax slept, he grinned slightly.

Eek began to freak out when she started screaming. He had just been about to ask what was wrong when she spoke.

"Oh...hey!"

Eek relaxed and smiled. "Good morning." He stood to go over to the closet to get a clean shirt but wearily fell back into his bed. He sneezed, and suddenly his face began turning red with an oncoming fever.

Eek was already growing quite weak from the sickness. Soon it wouldn't be hard for it to turn into pneumonia. His lips parted slightly to let the dark substance to dribble into his mouth, but the horrid taste sent him into a fit of coughing and gagging.

After he was done coughing, Eek nodded and worked up the resolve to take the rest of the medicine. Lifting his quite weak hand, he put it over Nyax's and tilted the cup against his mouth. Quickly he swallowed it all and then whispered out, "Water."

Eek's lips parted again and he gratefully drank the water. It also helped to sooth his burning throat. After he was done drinking, he weakly let his head fall back against his pillow.

"You don't have to watch over me," he whispered hoarsely. "I don't want ya to get sick."

Eek smiled slightly. She was sweet. He knew a lot of people would have just left him to get well on his own. His own family had done that many times.

His hand lifted and his cold fingers touched the side of her face gently. "Thanks."
