Junchi had not noticed that he let out that his species hunt. It was too late to take it back now, with Fuyu suddenly bombarding him with questions. She did not seem fearful of him, however. That might have been because of her expressionless face, but if she was truly scared, she could have ran away.

"Um... I hunt because I have to. Something inside me tells me to hunt and I do it, or else I get really sick in the head and stop being me. We're all like that." Shame could be heard in his voice if you listened carefully enough. He was both proud and ashamed of being such a predatory creature. Hunting was not something he considered bad, but the way oricenta hunted was excessively violent. Experiencing such a mixture of enjoyment from torturing his prey and disgust of what he was doing was too much of a conflict for him to handle.

Seeing Fuyu's slump of the shoulders sent a quick stab of panic through Junchi's chest. Was he already pushing a new friend away? In a way, he should have been thankful. This was the perfect distraction from the awkwardness of talking about how he hunted. "A-Anyways, you can be mature and childish! Being small doesn't make you childish. Dad is small and he's super mature and scary. And... if you like studying and stuff... we can study together! I can teach your different languages or something."

The attempt to cheer Fuyu up distracted Junchi from the flowers blooming on his arms. The flowers were of varying types and colors, with most being pink or white plum blossoms.

Fuyu listened to the kid tell her about hunting, and she felt a bit bad for him. Partly because she heard from his voice that he wasn't that proud of it. Fuyu didn't want to harm living things herself but she understood death was a part of nature. That was how she had dealt with the death of her mother. But you lost yourself if you didn't hunt? That sounded...sad. For you, and for the prey.
"That sounds a bit scary, that you stop being you. And you seem like an okay kid too."
Fuyu's eyes had sympathy, although the rest of her face didn't.

The fact that a younger kid had to try and cheer Fuyu up almost made her even more depressed. She had sunken to a new low. But her pride and appreciation the kid's efforts made Fuyu cheer up a bit and if she could she would've smiled at the kid. But instead she just tilted her head slightly, and tried to express her gratitude through her body language and eyes.
"Your dads sound like fun."
Fuyu said and laughed a little.
"You don't need to help me study. I'm smart too."
Fuyu sounded little proud and she puffed her chest a bit. Then she noticed the flowers on the kid's arms. Fuyu gaped at them and gasped.
"Those are so pretty! How are you doing that? Is it your power?"

Junchi could tell that Fuyu was pitying him. Pity was not what he wanted. There was nothing to be sad about. He huffed, straightening his back and raising his head. An aura of both confidence and happiness radiated off of him to prove to Fuyu that there was nothing to worry about.

"It's okay! I have a hunting schedule. If I don't hunt enough, I'll know. I can do something looong before I start getting weird. Even with his mouth covered, it was clear that he was giving a cheery smile as he clasped his hands behind his back and swayed from side-to-side.

"And my dads are fun! Daddy taught me how to—" Junchi jumped when Fuyu gasped, widening his amber eyes for a split second before they seemingly closed again. He looked around for a few seconds to see what caught Fuyu's attention before lowering his eyes to his arms.

Holding them out in front of him, his impression turned into a mixture of surprise and fear. There were only about four flowers on each arm, all of which were finished growing. Just to test, Junchi pulled a flower out of his right arm. There was no pain, but the small area on his arm itched a little.

His eyebrows furrowed, and underneath his mask was a frown. He wanted to be excited about this. To be amazed by another cool power, but none of this made sense. All of this was frustrating. "I don't know? I don't... I couldn't... I couldn't do that before."
