Wei was standing outside Hal's dorm.

"Hal. Haaaal. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal....."

Wei's voice probably sounded annoying, but he needed Hal's help. He needed it desperately.

"Haaaaal I need your heeeeeeelp."

Hal was smart right? Hal was good at being creative and having ideas, right? Wei had been brainstorming for a while and nothing was quite coming out right for him. "Haaaal. Help me win Student Council Electionssssssss."

> Hal

Hal was quite certainly enjoying his peace in his dorm, letting himself drift to sleep while he had nothing to do, when some strange whining noises started to ring from outside his door. Oh, come on! He knew the sound of his voice--well honestly, he could recognize anyone's voice but that was definitely Wei.

He was going to let him be but at the drop of the word "help", Hal threw himself off the bed. He didn't even so much as bother to look at how his hair was a mess after changing his shirt to a more presentable one when he rushed to the door.

Hal opened the door to see the little monkey standing there. There was an unimpressed look on his face when he greeted him but his tone wasn't unpleasant. "You're running for Student Council again?"

Wei was all set to keep whining outside his friend's door until one of the angry and unimpressed neighbors finally burst out and told him to leave or banged down Hal's door just to make him stop ignoring the monkey when the door opened all on its own. Wei looked at Hal brightly, bouncing in place as if he'd gotten a shot of sugar right into his blood stream.

Hal was great. Hanging out with Hal was great.

"Yep!" He said with a big smile, holding a ratty looking notepad that had seen better days tightly between his hands. "And I need help."

Wei looked right, then left, then leaned towards Hal as if he was telling a secret. "Yasee... I'm kind of.... out of ideas here."

"And you're like. The most creative guy I know? So."

Wei shrugged sheepishly.

"Help?"

Hal's expression softened when he saw Wei smiling brightly and bouncing on his spot like a giddy child. A giddy child with a plot to win the student council elections, at least. And suspiciously asking for help as if it were illegal.

Even though honestly, Hal felt a little proud that of all people, Wei ran to him for help. He wasn't completely focusing on the fact Wei called him the most creative guy he knew because that could be just Wei fluffing up his non-existent feathers.

And yet Hal was a huge sap.

He sighed, looked from side to side before opening the door to his dorm, "Fine, you got me. Do you want to talk here or somewhere else?"

Well, Wei wasn't really the type to give out false compliments. Those were so underhanded and dishonest and he didn't condone them at all. He preferred to just be honest. Well. Honest and nice. Trying to find a middle ground there was hard sometimes and he just--he wished...

Anyway.

Hal really was basically the most creative person Wei knew. The most creative person he would trust with helping him like this. Like. Giving him answers on a test.

"Here is fine," Wei said, slipping into the other boy's room and waiting until the doors closed before he plopped onto the floor. "So uh. I wrote down fortune cookies.... and then my brain died."

As Wei entered his room , Hal closed the door behind them and followed after him. Hal chose to grab one of his pillows and sit across from Wei instead of sitting on his bed. Even though this was his own room, it didn't exactly sit well with him that his guest was on the floor while he was being comfortable.

"Fortune cookies?" he echoed, "What, do you mean you're including those for campaign?" he paused as if the idea just registered in his head. "Well, I guess yeah that does sound kinda interesting-- but anyway, I uh... I wasn't paying attention last time to campaigns really. What did you do last time anyway?"

When Hal settled down and asked what Wei did last time, Wei opened his notebook, flipping through the pages, some of which were messily tucked between other pages until he got to the right one. Hal could see that on the page before it there was what looked like some kind of recipe.

"Last time I made buttons, I gave out small trading cards, I made a banner to hang in the cafeteria--" He left out the part where the banner almost immediately got torn because he fell while trying to put it up. "--there was an Impromptu Party Popper Party..."

Wei flipped the page to check if that was everything. Seeming satisfied, he nodded to himself. "Yeah... that was last time. It worked pretty well, I won the President seat that time.... but I stepped down."

While Wei diligently flipped though the pages of his notebook, Hal kept a close eye on it, hoping he could catch something that could give him ideas. He could see various lists but at one point, one of the lists looked a little different. Almost like it was a recipe of sorts. Huh. That... that could actually work.

As Hal thought of that, Wei finally got to the page he'd been looking for and went on to list down his past activities. While he did, Hal was evaluating and planning out possible activities in his head. When Wei finished up, Hal nodded knowingly; if that actually landed him the Presidential seat, those would have been enough, he thought. But this is the second term. "We need something bigger," Hal mused aloud.

He looked up at Wei, "Buttons and banners are mostly just for awareness, we need something to call for more people's interest." Hal actually couldn't believe he knew about this sort of stuff. Then again his dad was a businessman and his mom was great at sales; it must be in his blood.

Hal bumped his fist on one open palm as a thought came to him, "Hey, like if you thought of fortune cookies, we could always go for cupcakes an pastries." Oh. He dug a hole for himself on that one. Then again, he was pretty sure Wei has an inkling about him and baking because of Hari.

"Something bigger?" Wei echoed, all his attention on Hal as his tail swished and curled back and forth repeatedly.Already he was glad he'd talked to Hal, because Wei would have been content doing the same thing he did last year with just more of it, which thinking about it now, was probably not a good plan.

The monkey nodded slowly as Hal spoke and seemed to write something down, his tongue between his teeth before looking up at him again.

The thought of cupcakes and pastries was a good one but-- "I can't bake," Wei admitted, something disingenuously. He could make banana bread to some degree, but only with Hari's almost constant help. He'd burned himself once, after all, in the process of making banana bread.

"I guess I could.... buy some..."

Hal went back to pondering for more ideas while Wei jotted down things on his little notebook. Mostly, he was still wondering about the pastries, about which would appeal more to the public and what else they could do with it. More importantly, it was better if Wei did something to show the other students too.

Wei's voice yanked him out of his thoughts and brought him back to the present. He was silenced for a moment, letting the words just float around a bit before it sunk in. Hal sighed; since he was here already, Hal might as well throw in as much help as he could. He cast his gaze down thoughtfully, "Buying would cost us more than what we need to--" says the kid who could probably buy a truckload of it, "--We could lessen the spending if we bake it ourselves--plus, we can even personalize it so..."

Hal took a moment to pause, like he was weighing what he was going to say next, "I guess I could just help you on that on,." he declared, looking up at Wei, his eyes squinted as if he were still considering something.
