@"Shadowborn"

Today was a wonderful day.

Not like the day was pretty or anything like that, not that it was any better than any other horrible self-aggrandizing day of any other week, of any of century in any other year, but today was particularly good because it had spent the whole day ruining someone else's good time, like it was wont to do and ate its fill of some sweet sweet misery from some of its favorite people.

So now it was enjoying itself by floating around the campus in a vague mass of light gray, looking for people to scare and days to ruin. It's favorite past time by far.

Technically speaking, it wasn't supposed to be on campus. It wasn't a student, and apparently the school frowned upon non-students walking around the campus or entering the campus or bothering the students or something like that.

But the Shadow was floating around the campus which therefore made it okay and on top of that it didn't care what the squishy humans said it could or couldn't do.

The featureless mass of black "peered" around, trying to find its next prey.

Back in the Underworld he used to wonder why the soft things acted the way they did when he watched them, it was the most incoherent and went against any logic he could come up with. Now in this world he loved love and rage, well not so much for rage it was just that rage had been the fuel he had needed to accomplish his ambitions and it stuck to him like glue.

On Dust or whatever it was the soft ones called this planet, after his three years of chasing his Queen he had been accepted, he started to feel weird sensations and feelings. Jealous was not a good thing because it nearly made him loose his Queen however she had agreed to help untangle the rest of the feeling he just wanted them gone. "Dammit!" he almost yelled and then next second he hit the wall "Get away form me!", he hit the wall once more, both hands had some wounds around the middle finger knuckles.

"Raawrr!" the sound wasn't even remotely intimidating, well not for a demon anyway but he had accepted the price and would do it again if he got the chance but the reason why he roared was because he was angry about his confusion of his tangled feelings. He sat down with his back leaned into the wall he had hit, never minding about the slowly creeping blood he however inspected his hands and whispered as a wish or spell "Go away.".

The Shadow was just minding its business as usual when he heard the oddest noise. It sounded like someone squishy having some problems.

That was its favorite sound in the whole wide world.

It floated over to the sound and watched as the little squishy thing had a break down and attacked the wall as if it was the source of its problems. But the Shadow knew that maybe the little squishy wasn't as squishy as it seemed.

"What's wrong little guy?" It said in the most condescending voice possible, collecting its body into a black, vaguely humanoid and androgynous shape. "Oh, wait... I think I already know how your feeling."

It floated down a little peering a Logan. Or, somewhat peering. It didn't have eyes so it was hard to tell.

"So out of control... so... many nasty niggling ideas you can't control."

It fazed through the wall and poked is head out from the brick. "How pathetic you are."

Little guy, sure he was a lot smaller then when he was in the underworld but the thing didn't or shouldn't know about that. Not to mention he should be about average height, if not slightly taller if he where to believe his summons reports and he hadn't seen such a creature before but that didn't do anything for him yet.

"There are these things, these annoying things that the soft creatures call feelings. They are frikkin annoying and is just in the way." While he had disliked the creatures initial tone he found no reason to get aggressive, that was the path to expulsion and loosing his queen.

"The hell does that mean" he frowned on the words of pathetic, he knew the meaning of the word he just didn't like it to be used to describe him. Now he started to be aggressive, this was good, this he knew and this he could use. Before doing anything rash though he waved his hands and extended them towards the thing, as if it was smoke.

Being very very old, the Shadow had learned how the squishy things dealt with their feelings, and this most certainly wasn't how the useless little creature's he'd come to find so delicious dealt with their feelings. No, he'd seen more than enough of his fair share of glamoured or changed beings to know when something wasn't as it appeared. Of course, he had no idea what Logan actually was--only that he was certainly not exactly what the Shadow was perceiving.

"Oh yes...." The Shadow nodded sagely, its body curling at the ends, making casual loops around Logan's body. He could sense aggression and frustration rolling from the man like a thick perfume, and imbibing it in such quantities made him feel so good. He could practically feel himself getting full.

Metaphorically of course. The Shadow didn't have a stomach or anything to feel actual fullness.

"Pathetic." It repeated. "Arousing pity. Miserably Inadequate. Are you stupid on top of being pathetic?"

It didn't retract from his hand, but as Logan's hand moved closer, he found the area immediately around it to be colder than ice. The Shadow could taste the hints of love in his emotional cloud. He could use that.

"I mean, just think about the mess you've made for everyone. Especially for her, don't you think?"

"I know what it means, dammit." the words had been strong, powerful, but not to the point of screaming, rather they had been close to roaring. He wondered if the thing where a manifestation of his feeling, just to add more annoyances, it actually made sense because then the soft things actions when under the influence of emotions seemed more logical.

If his theory was correct then the thing should disappear if he could empty his head and remove his feelings, it wasn't easy but by thinking about her he cleansed everything else but love, next part was the hardest. To stop thinking about her he counted letters from one and up. While he had succeeded it didn't last long before he heard the thing mention a her and just like that his efforts had been in vain. "What the hell do you know" While he knew he hadn't been disturbing his queen and didn't care for the rest the thing had mentioned her in such a manner, this was unacceptable.

In his rage mode he showed a devilish grin and intimidating eyes, wild enough to scare even the most ferocious demon. "From shadow to shadow." he whispered just high enough to let the thing hear it as he manifested a sword of shadow in his hand. He would swing that sword like crazy against the thing.

The Shadow watched as Logan glared at it without feeling an inkling of fear for him. It wasn't a demon, and it cared not for the hierarchy of demons, nor did it care about the power of this particular maybe-demon in front of it. Even when it brandished the sword at him, swinging like mad, it moved through its mass without harming it in the least. Well, it supposed that wasn't accurate.

What happened is that even as the sword tried to cut through it, its body recollected and reformed, even taking power from the sword itself. Shadows did not destroy other Shadows, they merely merged together into a larger, stronger being. It was almost difficult to pry the sword out of the Shadow's body, as the sword and itself seemed to merge with every swing

Which is a better approximation of what happened.

"I know quite a lot, in fact." It said, it's voice little more than a whisper. This guy's emotions were so untrained that it could practically read his mind. He could scarcely have asked for a better meal.

And what a meal he was proving to be. "What a novelty you are to her. A toy. A yappy puppy nipping around with nothing better to do."

From shadow to shadow what thoughts had entered his mind when he said that, well maybe he thought to fight fire with fire because that is possible but on the other side it might be more like fighting smoke with smoke, not a very smart thing to do. Fighting emotion with emotion didn't work and he never really did get to try it emotionless, if the thing was indeed a manifestation of his feelings then it should be weakened by an empty mind and growing weaker and weaker until it fully disappear, it was worth a shot.

He ignored or tried to ignore the thing. He de-materialized his sword and returned to where he stood before meeting the thing, before he sat down and started punching the wall again and for every punch he would count out loud.

"1", "2", "3", "4" and so on, imagine his surprise when the thing didn't vanish.

The shadow watched passively as it seemed to penetrate his skull the trying to fight a shadow with another shadow was a bad idea. Not that it mattered really--The Shadow was the first shadow that formed on the ground. It was unlikely that there was a shadow that existed now that weren't at least partially a bit of him. That's what happened when you dissipated as often as he did.

But then he started punching the wall, yelling numbers out like an idiot and sitting facing the wall. Jesus, this guy really was absolutely nuts wasn't he?

He'd admit that getting non-humans to feel misery was a lot harder than just bullying humans, but he tended to find the reward for his perseverance was a tastier, higher quality product.

Sensing that his emotions were starting to stable out and that he wasn't able to glut himself on his unrestrained feeling, he floated down into the wall, peeking his head out once he finished his stupid countdown.

"Are you quite finished with your temper tantrum, child?"
