He slowly walked towards the dorms after getting through all his registration forms reading a small piece of paper stating where he be living next with confusion and comparing it to a separate piece of paper which appeared to be a map. He just got his room assignment and it was realty confusing where the building really was there was so many.
He was wearing his usual clothing his long black trench jacket. with a white button up shirt underneath and a pair of black slacks with a simple pair of dress shoes that seemed to be very worn in. He also had a backpack on stuffed full with a small suitcase he was pulling next to him all wheels. he was wondering what his new roommate would be like hopefully someone nice or at least who kept to themselves. He wouldn't want to be reasonable for the building going down in flames though the board of the school seemed to be fully aware on what he could do.
He toke a small breath finding a near by wooden bench and sitting down in relief in the mild day so close to spring he could feel the nice breeze. Looking towards the sky to clear his head he kept the two papers folded on his lap. He could just go to the building closest to the one he saw on the map but the markings didn't match well. Dam should of requested a guide he thought.

Finding new students on campus was like shooting fish in a barrel. At a minimum, they looked lost and confused, staring at every sign. Anyone who had been on the campus for more than a day didn't bother with signs, skipping right past them without a thought.

Some were even easier than that. The moment someone had a suitcase, you knew they were knew. Fresh meat. Or he supposed fresh dollars, considering he got paid a set amount for every student he gave a full tour too.

He adjusted his hat, tipping it back a bit as he approached the bench. If he had any interest in gambling, he probably would have bet money on the fact that he was new. Wasn't hard to figure out, considering he both looked lost and had a suitcase beside him.

"New student, right?" He asked, tone light. "Has the school given you a tour guide yet?" It was possible someone else was on the way, and Jai wasn't going to try and poach someone else's student.

He snapped to attention when he herd a mans voice near by looking in the general direction. Hmm he thought this man looked a bit sketchy from his appearance but at the moment he couldn't turn down the help he just keep his guard up. This man may be a bit of a pick pocket or scam artist but, could be helpful.
He gave a small smile and held out a piece of paper to him. "First could you show me were this place is. Its my new dorm and they either need to update this map or make it a tad more simple." he toke a small sigh standing up grabbing his things. "No I thought I could find this place on my own But I was sure proven wrong. i would like a tour after i can put my things in a secure location.
He watched and paid attention to the mans actions to see if he was hiding the truth when he talked paying attention to body language. He seemed nice but to early to tell.

Ahh, so many people came from small enough towns that they thought they'd be able to find their way around. Manta Carlos wasn't very big, but the school was. It was easily the size of one of the largest colleges in the united states, and had plenty of buildings. While not entirely accurate (as far as he knew the school wasn't actually alive), it wasn't too far off to say that the school had grown up organically. At one point it had just been a single building, and now... well, Jai had never managed to count them all.

He took the paper, giving it a quick glance. Not hard to figure out - it was either college or highschool (unless he was really unusual looking), and a glance confirmed which dorm he was in. "College dorms, yep. The map does get updated, just not as fast as the school does. I'm sure you can imagine how fast it changes when you've got people who can erect buildings overnight." He knew there was at least one person doing construction at any given time.

Jai stuck out his hand, an easy grin on his face. Handshakes were usual for Canada, but not everyone figured them out on their own. "Names Jai - I do tours for the school. If you follow me, I'll take you up to your room and we can go from there. What's your major?" Assuming he even had one.

He gave a small nod listen to the man talk of such things. this place had some many people with different abilities. Hopefully they had a good police force to get the bad ones in check.
"The name is Kan " He shock the mans hand with a odd look. He read about this greeting a lot but never had to it happen most different then japan greetings and even among the monastery.
"Computer engineering. the way the world is evolving it seemed the best to dive into when most of the world becomes in control of robotics and machines I tend to be able to fix them. But until then a computer tech is the best i can be."
He followed behind the man paying attention to his surroundings trying to pick up marks so he know how to find his way by himself next time.

Kan. It sounded Japanese, but it was awfully hard to tell. Even if he was Japanese, there was no way to know if he was modern Japanese, or if he was actually from some far flung alternate future or the distant past. That was the sort of stuff he had to deal with, which was a bit of a bummer.

"Makes sense to me. Everything's computers these days, and it's only going to end up more computer related, especially if you end up living off island." Manta Carlos seemed to be less computer-focused than the rest of the world, largely because there were so many things that were done by magic instead. The internet was all but ubiquitous in North America, but here? Well, plenty went on without it.

He stopped outside the college dorm, gesturing to the building.

"This is the college dorm. Dorms are split up by grade level, but they're unisex in large part because a decent portion of the student body doesn't even do human genders. If you don't have a reason for it, you might have a roommate already, or you might end up with one later. School technically starts in september, but we've got lots of people coming in and out at different times as needed, so all the classes are pretty drop-in friendly."

"Hmm unisex hopefully each room has a bathroom inside?" He walked into the door after jai going up to his room and unlocking it for the first time taking a look around. Before putting his stuff near what seemed to be a empty room. (let me know if its like a two bedroom apartment or smaller etc.)
He looked towards jai. "Looks like i don't have a roommate quite yet this place seems nice compared to what i was living in."

"Rooms are two bedrooms attached to a little living area. Shared bathroom for the two of you, but you get your own bedroom. Think of it like a hotel, basically. Not huge, but you're able to live in it comfortably." He explained, stepping inside after Kan entered his room.

"You're lucky for now, but don't be surprised if someone else ends up knocking on your door. They're always shuffling people for roommates, trying to get things as ideal as possible. If you end up liking someone, make sure to let whoever your floor lead is, and they'll try and keep you together." It was all pretty standard stuff - back home in Canada had been much the same. Not that he'd actually gone to university in Canada or anything - he'd never gone past elementary school before they'd moved to the island.
