Rho is an ethereally beautiful young woman, with skin like pale ash accented by her hair, eyes and lips that are all the brilliant red of Autumn leaves. No amount of brushing can truly tame her wildfire locks, which blows as easily as silk ribbons in the wind.
Her true dress is plain and unadorned, but she Glamours her clothes depending on the situation. She can wear the finest of gold-embroidered silks or the most practical of hunting leathers on a whim.
Personality Description
Rho has all the grace of a duchess with none of the bearing. Despite her noble upbringing, she is far more comfortable being down in the thick of things rather than stuffed into some too-tight dress and paraded around at a party. Much like the majority of her people, she loves the thrill of the hunt.
Due to how she has trained her Glamour, Rho tends to view other people in very definite terms and she is slow to change how she perceives a particular person once she has made up her mind about them. Her Companions are her most trusted friends, and her choosing to perform the blood pact to make a new Companion is a big deal for her. Likewise, she has a tendency to dehumanize her Prey even more than other hunters do, and can even occasionally be unduly cruel in her hunting methods.
Active Abilities
Hunter's Mark
Rho can mark other individuals, including people, animals, and other supernatural entities, either as her Companion or her Prey. She can mark as many individuals as she wants as her Companions, which requires an hour-long blood pact ritual. Marking Prey is instantaneous and only requires line of sight to the target. However, she may only have one Prey at a time. Marked individuals remain marked until they die or Rho chooses to end the mark. Rho counts as her own Companion and cannot end this effect.
Glamour
Rho can utilize Glamour magic, but has traded her ability to affect anyone and everyone in order to focus her abilities and make them more potent. She can only affect marked individuals, and the way she can affect them depends on whether they are her Companion or her Prey. She must remain within one thousand feet of a marked individual for her Glamour to remain effective on them, but need not maintain line of sight the entire time.
- Rho can mask her Companions using Glamour. She cannot make them invisible, but can disguise them to better hide their movements. She can change their coloration to better match their environment, cause their footfalls and breath to mimic naturally occurring sounds, and even alter their scent to whatever she pleases.
- For her Prey, Rho can Glamour the environment around them. She can alter the lighting, cause phantom sounds, and make paths seem more or less hospitable than they truly are, even as far as to completely turn around the Prey's sense of direction.
Longsight
Rho's magic short bow, this weapon operates exactly like a short recurve bow for the most part. It does not require maintenance and can string and un-string itself with a mental command so long as she holds it. It's most potent feature however, is when it is fired. When an arrow fired from Longsight strikes a target, that target becomes a point of sight for Rho. By closing her eyes, she can choose to see through any other sight point that her bow has created. There is no upper limit on how many of these sight points she can have, but all created sight points vanish at sunrise or sunset (whichever occurs first).

Rho possesses peak human strength, and can reach a top speed of 40 mph. She heals at a rate of three times faster than an average human. She possesses a wolf’s senses of hearing and smell, as well as a hawk’s sight. She can see in total darkness. She also possesses bullet dodging reflexes, and a perfect sense of balance and can jump thirty feet from a standing position.
Bramblesnare Blessings
Fae of Bramblesnare are able to move without making a sound, and lack strong scents so long as they are within wooded areas or their court.
Mockingbird
Rho can mimic voices and sounds, as well as skillfully throw her voice up to fifteen feet away.
Weaknesses
Iron
As with many fae, iron is her bane. Iron at its best causes mild itching when in close proximity, however if they are put into direct contact, it will leave burns, and permanent scarring. Iron is poisonous if injected into the bloodstream or ingested.
Salt
Salt can disrupt Rho's Glamour and remote viewing if it is thrown at her. Crossing salt lines has a similar effect. Salt rings or rooms lined with salt will completely disable any active magic she might try to utilize.
Compelled to Honesty
She is unable to tell blatant verbal lies to other sapient beings. At best her magic could be stripped away for a long period of time. At worst she will be executed by the forest itself, or changed into a beast.
True Voice
Bramblesnare fae hide their voices, and spoken language from outsiders. The voices people hear these fae speaking with are effectively secondary voices that they've adopted to speak with outsiders. Should an outsider hear their true voice they will lose the ability to speak.
Debts
Thanking them, or giving gifts compels the fae to seek out methods of repaying the gift giver. Inversely, they tend to expect something in return for kindness they offer.
Biography
Rhododendron is the youngest daughter of one of the petty noble houses of the Court of Bramblesnare. Having seventeen older siblings, she knew that she would never have a place of actual power and responsibility in her family. This was a blessing in many ways, as it allowed her to essentially do as she pleased without worrying about her parents hovering over her every breath. She took up Glamour as her hunting focus, and found that she could focus her training on only affecting targeted individuals rather than trying to broadly affect anyone and everyone.
She fell in with Prince Valerian in her adolescence, joining him first as a temporary companion on a hunting trip when her older siblings were busy with their courtly duties. Their fast friendship however led her to be chosen more and more by the Prince until she was a regular member of his hunting parties.
When it became clear that the King intended to get his son killed for daring to be a potentially better hunter than him, Rho was among the few that Val asked to accompany him in his flight from the Court. Once they found their way out of Bramblesnare, she joined him and the others in taking up residence at Starlight Academy.
