- Azucena is not magical (or so she thinks), even though she has been told a few times over the years that she is, she does not believe that she is (or will ever be) magical in any way.
- Azucena was adopted by Desna and Juniper Price, and has an older sister (who was also adopted) that she is close to - Aranea Price or as she often calls her, Rain or Rainie, and an older brother, Clement Price who she feels very protective of .
Azu does not know who her birth parents are and has an interest in finding who they were - mainly because she wants to know where she comes from and why she was given up - and, most importantly - if they were non-magical like her. However, at the end of the day, she sees Aranea, Desna and Juniper as her real family.

Azucena is Tomas's Del Bosque's child. Her mother, Iris Sands, met Tomas when she was studying with some druids in Spain. Falling on hard times, she was one of the poor unfortunate souls who decided to borrow money from Tomas. She could not pay the debt and was kept for his pleasure for a few weeks where he sodomised and beat her.
When Azucena's mother was let free, her debt fully "paid". She soon found out she was pregnant, and not wanting to abort, but patently refusing to let Tomas - considering him a true monster - know about his daughter's existence, she fled back to her home on Manta Carlos and decided to give her child up for adoption.
When Azucena was born, her mother sealed her powers - afraid that she might have inherited his magic and might be found that way somehow, and then quickly disappeared from the island altogether.
