Appearance Description:
Human Form
As a human woman, Morgana is about 5’2” with green-tinted black hair that falls in coarse, curled tresses down her back. Her eyes are a bright violet and her skin is sun tanned. She has large, round eyes and a small nose. She’s somewhat chubby, having a very soft “maternal” look to her. A crown of violets is woven into her hair, and flowers and other plants seem to be woven into her long hair as decoration, in reality she grows them like part of her body. She dresses rather simply, tending to wear a long skirt, apron, and blouse most days. When she goes into her garden or is teaching a practical class, she wears breaches and a loose tunic.
Dog Form
In her dog form, Morgana is about 3’4” from paw to shoulder. She looks like a massive Scottish Deerhound with a long, coiling whiplike tail and long floppy ears. Her fur is a green-tinted black with a single pale white spot on her chest. Her eyes are the color of violets. Tangled in the fur of her tail, as if they grow out of her body, are twisting vines, flowers, and other small plants. Sometimes they grow along her back as well. The exact type of flowers/plant life changes based on her mood & the season. On her head, she wears a flower crown of violets.

Personality Description:
Positive
Neutral
Negative
Active Abilities:
Green Thumb
Morgana’s body is filled with life, and when she touches any form of plant she can make it grow, either naturally or to supernatural sizes and forms. This can be used to do things such as form thorn walls, making “stairs” or “ladders” out of vines, or just reviving plants on the verge of death. The more complex her magic use, the more tired she will be. For example; giving a seedling a spark of life to start growing is nothing but a giant thorn wall would leave Morgana severely winded/tired.
Shape Change
Morgana can, at will, switch between her two forms: that of a human woman and of a black dog. Her clothes seem to vanish as a dog, but come back when she returns to her human form.
Passive Abilities:
Psuedo-Immortal
So long as her “home root” is intact, Morgana will always regrow from it when her body is destroyed. It does take time for her to regrow, however. She reforms as a puppy-sized dog after 5 hours, and it can take 6 months for her to grow to her full size again. HoweverI the root can be destroyed, and if that occurs she will die permanently.
Mood Flowers
The flowers and plants that sprout from her coat are always in flux. Generally they change and grow to reflect the seasons and her moods. In spring they’re fresh, bright growths while autumn has the spread of warm colored foliage, winter is evergreen needles and pine cones while summer is the long river-side reeds.
When angry the plants can flare to life, growing larger and longer, spiking up thorns, growing poisonous petals etc. When sad, lonely, or scared they tend to wilt and shrivel, becoming meek. In happier or joyous moods, more flowers bloom in a myriad of colors across her entire body. When she’s excited, Morgana sometimes throws out a cloud of petals in her delight. Particularly emotional days can become physically draining.
Home Turf
When on the grounds her root blesses (such as in her forest) the strength of her abilities increase greatly. In such times as she carries her home root Morgana is just as strong as if she was standing on her sacred grounds. Counter to this, the further she goes from the root, the weaker Morgana will become.Within a 1 mile radius of the root is her “sacred ground” from there, her power decreases until 75 miles out. At that point, she loses all ability to use magic and is a mortal creature (either dog or human) for all intents and purposes. After 100 miles, she becomes severely ill and can hardly move. Any further and she is at risk of dying permanently.
Weaknesses:
Extreme Heat & Fire
Due to her body’s plant-like construction, if Morgana is exposed to fire or even extreme heat, she can “wilt,” growing sickly and ill and eventually dying. Fire can, obviously, burn her to ash.
Pollution/Trash
If she is exposed to or consumes pollution, trash, or other toxins she will wilt. Pollution of her home root takes much longer than direct poisoning and will eventually drive her mad before she grows ill enough to die. In her fever-addled state, her behavior becomes almost rabies like.
Total Darkness
Being removed entirely from natural sunlight for longer than two days (48 hours) will begin to weaken the fae. She will be unable to maintain her plant growths and will slowly shrink in size & wilt before eventually dying from lack of energy.
Thirst
Without access to clean water, Morgana will wilt away and die within a day.
Home Root
Morgana’s “home root” is essentially her heart and soul. It can be carried in her body or planted in a sacred place which she is then bound to protect. Any harm done to the root is transferred in some way to Morgana. Pollution, rot, and poison (and similar things) simply make her ill, but things such as cutting, burning, or otherwise destroying the root will directly harm her body. When simply damaged, the fae will go into her rabies-like madness, but when completely destroyed she will die permanently.

- Very crafty. Inquisitive, likes to learn new things, but is very withdrawn from wider human/sapient contact after centuries of isolation as a spirit.
- Seems pretty forgetful sometimes.
- Possessive over her things, and can go a touch overboard in trying to keep them hers or safe.
- Lowkey hates this, but can;t seem to shake the need to “protect” and “keep” things. Blames it on being a dog.
- Stubborn as a mule, very set in her ways and patterns of life. Gets very upset at big changes, and will ignore danger if she is determined to do something.

Biography:
- Before her death, she lived as a human woman by the name Morgan Relki. She was married happily to a powerful human mage Selkiris. All was well until she fell ill. Despite his immense magical prowess, Selkiris could not save Morgan and she eventually died due to the curse placed upon her.
- As a spirit, her memories began to fade and fail her. Eventually, she felt an irresistible pull towards a seed.
- Morgan was reborn into a new creature. She emerged from the earth as a small puppy made of earth and grass. A small silver ring was tangled in its fur and a heart-shaped seed thrumming with life in its chest.
- The black dog spent decades guarding and protecting its forest, chasing off those who dared hurt the wood but offering guidance and protection to those in need. Legends from local villages were built up about the beast, dubbing her “Morgana, guardian of the wilds.” for the silver ring worn on a vine around her throat.
- Humanity’s development left Morgana with less and less power every year. She grew weak and ill, and with this came visions and dreams of a black haired man looming over her. The fae woke every night with tears streaming down her cheeks for reasons she could not remember nor comprehend. This came to a head when a wedding was held by her woods. The newly weds ventured forth into the forest to celebrate their union. And for the first time in over a thousand years, Morgana felt rage boil up in her. She wasn’t sure why or what made her so angry, but she howled and bayed, chasing the interlopers and their marriage out of her forest.
- After that, old stories of “Morgana the black terror” began to rise up in nearby towns. She was whispered of in fear: a demon or ghost haunting them. People tended to avoid the woods….and Morgana was happy with that for more things had begun changing in her weakness. Some nights when she awoke from dreams of life with the man she was human. The first time this happened, Morgana was in a panic for weeks trying to get back. She only had the strength to do so while nestled in the roots her home root was buried under. Eventually, she was able to get this newfound ability under control.
- Humanity continued expanding, and soon they needed the land her forest was on. As development of the land began, Morgana was too ill to fight back. She was only able to watch in terror as great machines and men cleared the land. It was during this that her root was damaged, beginning a rabid episode. The woodsmans’ camps would be torn to pieces, machines damaged, men bitten, pricked, and sliced by everything in the forest. Morgana was on the verge of slaughtering the men when she was taken by the Scouts to prevent her from dying due to the disbelief in magic.
- When she next awoke, Morgana was in her human shape, in what seemed to be a bed. Beside her was the home root and still safely around her neck was the silver band she was born with. She was in recovery for months. She talked to no one excluding the Scout nurse who cared for her: Willard.
- It was he who helped her learn to walk and communicate nonverbally with others, and who suggested allowing her to teach and watch over a dorm of older students to the headmistress of the academy. And so, once she was deemed fluent in sign language and her skills in writing were confirmed, Morgana was allowed to teach practical classes to highschoolers in gardening and herblore. She’s well known for her ever-open shoulder, kind smiles, warm hugs, and excellent advice.
- Morgana has yet to plant her home root again, too terrified of going mad and hurting one of her precious students or the others on the island.
Resources: She gets a small income from the academy as a teacher, and lives on the grounds in the dorm she’s in charge of. The only valuable thing she has is a small silver ring she keeps on her at all times.
Additional Information:
- She’s basically a plant, and so anything that would harm plants (extreme cold/hot, fire, toxins, lack of water, sunlight etc.) will harm her much more than it would harm any human.
- She’s selectively mute & so tends to communicate with a mixture of body language, sign language, and writing if she is able to do so.
