Vos

Vos sat on a branch, his pencil writing into his book, or more accurately drawing. He'd been mapping out the forest as he explored, making notes on the location of water sources and other important things. His enchanted book had infinite space, so there was no fear of running out.

Tilting his head he'd sniff the air, a new scent, human he believed. Standing he'd whisper to the book and it'd switch to a different volume, one that he used to record info the people he met. Then he was off moving from tree to tree, shadow to shadow, the silent shadow demon moving quickly.

As he neared the source of the scent he'd drop from the trees and start to walk. He'd adjust his mask and cloak, he knew he looked odd by the standards the people here held. Though he'd found that people preferred him with the mask on.

Finally he'd find the source of the scent. He'd tilt his head curiously as he spotted the girl, a few years younger than him, assuming she wasn't actually ancient. "Ah hello there," he'd say with a nod, "apologies if I'm interrupting anything, was out for a run." She was different looking, not unpleasant by any means though, "I don't often seen many people in this section of the woods."

Wednesday had only been walking through the forest for a short while, but she was already looking tired. It was only supposed to be a short trip, grab some plants for a fairly basic glamour spell and go back home. A trip like this used to be easy, but ever since her curse had begun affecting her she could barely manage like she used to. It was incredibly frustrating, needing to have so frequent breaks like this.

She was seated on a fallen tree, the log laying lengthwise on the ground, her cat sitting in her lap as she ran her hand through its fur along its back. Wednesday looked human, at a glance. She was bundled up under many warm layers which made it hard to tell many details about her appearance. The thing that stood out pretty clearly was the green skin on her face, that frowned as she glanced around her.

Her cat noticed Vos first, shaking itself loose of Wednesdays grasp before hopping onto the ground, padding across the dirt and grass, looking towards the trees in his direction just before he emerged. Wednesday stood up quickly, eyes darting across and sizing the newcomer up. At first, she looked defensive, she knew there were occasionally dangerous things in the forest, but once he started talking she relaxed a little.

"No, you weren't interrupting." She said, calmly, sitting back down. "I just wasn't expecting to see anyone else while I was out here."

"Ah yes, not many people come this far in," he'd look down at the cat, looking over the small animal briefly, his eyes returning to the girl. "I've only seen a few people wander in...usually they're lost," he'd helped guide a few back out, saved one child from a pack of wolves.

He'd adjust his mask, making sure it did not slip, didn't want to startle her with his scars. "I've taken up residence here some....two weeks ago or so," his nose would twitch as it continued to pick up scents. "It's a fine enough to place," far better than the shadow wastes of his home hell.

"You are of the city yes?" he'd ask, having taken an interest in the city that was the center of his new home, "maybe of the academy?" The he realized he'd forgotten something, "people have told me of both, they sound strange, but also good," one of his fingers would tap on the cover of his book.

"Kind of a strange place to take up residence isn't it?" Wednesday asked, watching him closely, still a little weary. "Well, I don't need saving from any wolves, thank you very much. I'm more than capable of looking after myself."

Her cat, meanwhile, seemed a little less apprehensive of the newcomer. It padded across the ground towards him, sniffing at his feet as they talked.

"I'm from the city, yeah. If there um...a reason you haven't visited yourself?"

A little paranoid part of her mind thought his isolation was a little suspicious. The first reason she was able to think of was that he was hiding from something or someone. Though his apparent unfamiliarity with civilisation made that seem unlikely.

"Is it?" he'd ask tilting his head and chuckling a little, "the forest offers shelter, food, about everything one needs to live if you know what you're looking for." Taking a knee he'd offer the cat one of his hands to sniff, then gently petting the small animal.

"You see a good number of interesting things here," he'd continue, "fascinating creatures, and people too when they wander." He'd look back up at her, "I record all I see in my infini-book, that way nothing is truly forgotten."

He'd chuckle, "hiding? No, the city is just strange, I came from a place of shacks and makeshift homes. I only ever saw towers from a distance." Vos would glance at the city, "and they weren't the shinning towers you have, no they were dark towers, made of shadow."

The cat, it seemed, appreciated the treatment. It purred softly, nuzzling its face against his hand, taking the moment to enjoy the petting.

Wednesday listened. Her own apprehension was still obvious in her face and body language, but it was slowly giving way to curiosity. She tugged a little on her coat, pulling it tight around her as the chilly winds picked up slightly, blowing small bits of snow around them.

"Sounds like a pretty big change..." She noted. "Where uh, where were you from then? It doesn't sound like any place I've heard of."

Vos would chuckle lightly at the cat's reaction, they seemed like an odd but friendly creature. He'd continue to give it gentle pets, his odd hand running over its back as he spoke to its master.

"Oh another realm...or plane, whichever term you prefer," he'd adjust his mask and cloak, to ensure they blocked the snow and wind as best as they could. "One of the hells, though from what I've heard it's not one well known among the residents of this world."

He'd tilt his head thoughtfully as they spoke. "I've seen a good number of realms while traveling, afterlifes and such, a few eldritch related places," odd realms, ones that were dangerous, "eventually I found my way here," and so far he intended to stay, a neutral location like this was rare.

None of this particularly surprised Wednesday, she wasn't the most experienced witch in the coven, but she had a decent understanding of demons and the various other planes they could be found in. Assuming he wasn't lying, however, this one sounded far more well travelled than most.

"...Do you have the names of the places you've visited in that book of yours?" She asked, trying her best not to sound too interested and only mildly succeeding.

"I do actually," standing he'd reach into his cloak, from a pocket he'd pull a book, it wasn't to big. Bringing the book his mouth he'd say, "logs," to it and it'd shift, the title of the book changing as it shifted into a different volume.

"Ah yes here we are," he'd start to flip through the book, reading off a few of the realms he'd visited, hells, limbo, purgatory, eldritch realms. "Traveling between realms can be difficult, but there are doors if you know where to look."

Vos would tilt his head looking at the witch girl curiously, "just realized we'd entered a conversation without giving names." He'd chuckle a little, "I'm Vos," the shadow demon introduced himself.

She eyed him and his book curiously. He certainly had explored a lot. That book sounded like it could hold a wealth of information. Surely, getting her hands on it could benefit the coven greatly...

But maybe she should hold off on that until she knew more about the demon himself. She stood back up, dusting some of the snow off her body.

"Ah, right. Sorry, that was very rude of me."

Deciding that for the moment that he probably wasn't a threat, she walked over to him, her cat moving back over to meet her, and extended her hand.

"You may call me Wednesday." She said, politely. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
