You're my real family

"Oh my god Nebbie, I told you we wondered too far in the wrong direction of the forest, and now look at all these people here ugh dangit" Astera told her little companion, she meant to say it in a tone of reprimand towards the little furry creature, but it still came off as very, very nurturing and forgiving. She hated that. Still unseen by the others, she lays behind the giant boulder trying to come up with a plan. She was close enough for her to feel the mass of pain, the swirling desire for help emanating from them, and that's all she ever needed to decide to help someone, but did she really want to this time?

She had just moved to the academy, everything was so new and tropical about the place, the vast amount of variety between the creatures living around each other, it all seemed so fascinating. She sat there for a bit, pushing the sand around with her fingers, she stared at the sea a bit, before looking straight up and staring at the sky, and just a small glimpse of the stars was enough to make her choice.

"Let's go Nebbie," she said, smiling at her loving companion. "It seems it's time to make some new friends".

Live glared at Sky for a moment before a smirk played across her features.

"Hey Red. I think I found someone for us to fight." The ground around Live seemed to darken and her eyes filled with darkness. It almost seemed to ooze off her face, her hair moving as if lifted by an invisible dark wind. The only problem was, they were still on the beach in broad daylight. Live knew she didn't have much time left out here before things went south for her. She'd just have to find a way to move the fight to the tree line.

She glanced back at her friend, "Well? You gonna help me kick some ass or do I have to do that part myself?" She was fine either way.

"A fight?" Sky asked, a hint of a grin on his face as he adopted a defensive stance. "Why not, I guess. It's not like I got anything better to do." The windspeed slowly picked up, eventually getting high enough that speech could barely be heard, and the nearby trees were swaying two and fro with the wind, whilst Sky stood in a small bubble of perfect calm.

Astera was taking her first steps towards the rest of the people when a sudden surge of wind almost blew her off her feet. Anger, Bloodthirst, Challenge, the words swirling around the aura's of these people. The color red emanated from them so strongly that if she hadn't known better, the sea behind them could pass as made out of blood.

"Nebbie, you know what I said about making friends? Uhh, fuck that!" Literally now crawling on the ground, Astera is trying to head anywhere BUT where those people are, the word nopenopenopenope repeating through her head.

Her furry friend gave her a most condescending look and scurried through the gusts of winds towards the group of people. That was his way of telling her "I am so much better than you". She hated that.

"GODAMNIT NEBS AAA" said Astera, now running straight towards him. "If this gets any more dangerous, I am so not cooking anything good for you when we get home!".

Sky turned his head towards a rustle he hears in the grass, his head cocked in curiosity. The wind suddenly dropping what it was before, at least for now, he asked "Hey, is there a reason you're on the ground? Trust me when I say that's one of the worst places to be, just stick to the standing up human thing. It works waaay better. Anyway, sorry about the wind thing."

Live was about to get really into this fighting thing when her opponent suddenly shut his power down. Way to kill the mood!

But, it was probably good timing. The wind had whipped her hat off, directly exposing her face to the sun. She winced at the light but held her ground. There was still a chance this could turn into a fight and she couldn't let her opponent see that. Her powers still active, she quickly had the shadows retrieve her hat. It more just looked like the hat crawled its way back to her across the sand.

She looked to Stefan as she reached down and grabbed her hat from the ground. He knew her well enough to recognize she was pissed off but there was something else there that he hadn't seen much of before; concern. She didn't want to have to ditch her friend but her time out here was limited.

The whirlwind streaming around Astera had stopped, she could finally see clearly what was going on. As she is getting back her balance she hears what sounded like an advice and an apology about the whirlwind. "Good, whoever was doing it doesn't want to kill me yay!" she thought to herself.

"Um, I don't know what's going on here, but are you guys ok? What's with the whole battle to the death in a place like this, you could have destroyed it! I believe neither the trees nor their inhabitants have done anything towards you for you to act in such a way! Do you even have a reason for doing something like that in the first place?" said Astera, and immediately covered her mouth with her hands. Here she is now standing back to her two feet, yelling at the people who almost made her fly off the ground, looking at the damage done to the trees really made her forget her situation.

Clearing her throat she exclaims; " Well, anyways I am Astera and I just recently became a student at Starlight Academy, aaaaand I really didn't expect in such a short amount of time to already see other beings with powers! I am just glad no one did something they would regret though, how about we all just take a deeeeeep breath in, and then exhale, and try to start over, what do you say?" she said with a warm smile on her face

Before even anyone had the chance to respond though, Astera was taken by surprise. Pain was still emanating from one of them, and the thought "let's see what we can do" popped in her head, making her begin approaching the shadowed figure.

"Hey there, um I was just wondering what's wrong, the wind stopped yet you are somehow in pain, would it be ok if I took a look?" Astera said while trying to show that she had no intentions of harming this person in any way.

"Eh, I don't know. He asked for a fight, so I thought I might as well. And, well, I've been here for about as long as you, if not less." Sky responded, before seeing the girl go over to the other guy. His body dissolving into his natural, incorporal form, he shot over to where she was standing, then twisted back into a human shape. "What's up?" Sky enquired, his head tilted as he looked from the girl to the guy in black. "Is he sensitive to my magic or something?"
