Fang fidgeted nervously with his suit. It was the standard officer's uniform that the Drakenhardts would often wear to formal events such as these. His was custom fitted with a metal gauntlet on his left arm that resembled his scales in dragon form. His mask was a ornate, and made of reflective metal. He'd spent days working on it. He was all set and ready to go, he just hoped the same could be said of Scir, since she was his date for the evening.

And so he went, knocking on the door to her dorm. He'd been looking forward to this since the beginning of the month. He shuffled a bit, oddly worried about how he was standing and whether he looked handsome or not. The little worries were the strangest ones.

After spending about an hour and half just staring at her dress and the mask that went with it Scirheah had finally gathered enough courage to actually put them on and get herself ready. She tied her hair up on a neat bun and put on the minimal amount of makeup, just some concealer and some lip gloss to make her lips all shiny and bit pink. Scirheah barely knew how to use makeup anyway and her hands were shaky and Scirheah didn't trust them. Thankfully she had put on the contacts before her hands had become all shaky. They still felt weird in her eyes, and it was strange to be able to see properly without her glasses on.
Scirheah was a nervous wreck. For the hundredth time she second guessed if she should go after all. I mean, Fang had c-co-conf-, said something pretty mind blowing and Scirheah couldn't help but feel like stuttering and blush every time she looked at him. Well, at least the mask hid her blush tonight, and Scirheah didn't exactly need to talk thanks to her phone.
Scirheah had avoided the subject of Fang con-, saying what he said, and it all felt so awkward, but despite that Scirheah wanted to go to this masquerade with him. Not just because she was curious to death about it, but because it was Fang. Scirheah knew she liked him too, but couldn't for the death of her say it. Well, not out loud, but she had written multiple poems about it. Which in itself was so embarrassing.

Scirheah almost jumped right out of her dress when she heard the knock on the door, was it already this late?! Scirheah shot up and stumbled a bit as she grabbed her small purse and speed walked to the door, almost tripping on the hem of her shirt. She was already wearing her mask as well, somehow it gave her courage.
Scirheah opened the door bit timidly and looked at Fang. She blinked once, and blushed under the mask. Fang looked really nice in his outfit, his mask was so beautiful and the suit he was wearing looked good on him. Scirheah felt under dressed and fidgeted a bit with the hem of her dress, looking down at Fang's feet. She couldn't think of any rhymes with which to speak, and her hands were still a bit shaky, so she just looked at Fang shyly and waved a bit, small smile on her face.

Fang smiled warmly at her when he saw her. She looked just perfect. Purple was definitely her color. And the dress and mask both fit her personality as well. She'd been nervous and blushy ever since he'd confessed to her. But in spite of all that, everything was fine. Tonight would be a fun night for the two of them. He looked her up and down once again, yeah she was still perfect.

"You look perfect tonight," he said, extending a hand for her to take.

As Fang looked at her and took her in Scirheah wanted to sink into the ground or cover herself or do anything that could make the fidgety, nervous feeling she had go away. Well, Scirheah was already covered by the mask on her face, but she felt like wearing a bag.
Scirheah was so embarrassed, and she was pretty sure she was just going to keep continuously blushing tonight.

Fang, after taking her in, called Scirheah perfect and surprised her so much Scirheah almost had to take a step back. She stared at Fang and blushed so heavily her ears turned red. Scirheah felt it, and covered them. She had to answer something. Fang was the one who looked perfect, not Scirheah. She opened her mouth and said the simplest rhymes she knew.
"T-thank you, you too."
Scirheah didn't stutter that badly, and she slowly lowered her hands from her ears and set one of them on Fang's waiting hand. On her face there was a small shy smile and Scirheah was even able to look Fang in the eyes briefly.

She spoke this time. He was so used to her using her text to speech on her phone. He never forgot that she could speak, and he knew the rules associated with it. In the end, that just made those moments when she did speak more special. She had a nice voice for sure. He gripped her hand and headed off with her. They'd cross campus and head for the ballroom, where everyone seemed to be gathering.

"This will actually be the first time I've gone to an event like this with someone outside of my clan."

It was nice, holding Fang's hand. It was warm and much bigger than Scirheah's and when she glanced down at their hands she felt her cheeks blush again. Scirheah was gonna have to get herself together, they were probably gonna touch hands a lot tonight, she shouldn't blush at it every time.
Scirheah walked by Fang, trying to match his pace and steps, as they made their way across the campus.

All the people by the ballroom made Scirheah feel nervous but just one look at Fang made her feel calmer. She had a friend right here and Fang wouldn't lose her into the crowd, surely. Nevertheless Scirheah tightened her grip on his hand just a bit, though it made her heart race a bit.
Scirheah looked at Fang when he spoke, and his words somehow made Scirheah feel special. She was reaching for her bag for her phone, but hesitated and decided to try talking for now.
"I'm really glad you asked me to come with you, there's a lot of people but I wanted to see this ball, too."
Scirheah's voice was still a bit shy but she managed to look at Fang while saying this, and her smile was a bit wider than before.

"Well anyone from my family would be easy to spot. We're dressed similarly, plus... you can't hide this hair," he laughed a little bit. He was scanning the crowd to see if there was anyone he could recognize. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. He had no plans of losing track of her in the crowd, not even for a second.

"Where do we even start with this? You wanna just walk around like the fancy nobility we are?" he joked.

Scirheah snorted a bit at the hair comment and looked up at it, and to the crowd. She spotted at least one, maybe two red heads, but otherwise there were so many heads her own head started to spin.

Scirheah had no idea where to start either, but Fang's mention of them being nobility made Scirheah laugh. She felt like the ice was starting to crack, and Scirheah was lot less afraid of the crowd when Fang had a firm grip of her hand. It also made thinking of rhymes easier, and Scirheah had decided to talk tl Fang through this night. He deserved it.
"I'm farthest from nobility, I have neither the poise or ability. But I want to look around this place, it and the people look beautiful and have style and grace."
Scirheah wasn't scared anymore, and she took the first step inside the ball room and tugged Fang along with a smile on her face. Her mood swings weren't anything new, and Scirheah was excited to see the ball.
"That won't happen just standing here though. Come on, let's go."

Well on the bright side, Scir was starting to relax more. He could tell by how much she was talking to him. She wasn't using her phone, and actually speaking. He shook his head at her, politely disagreeing with her comment about not being nobility. "You've plenty of poise and ability. And style and grace to match with the best of them. And I'm your noble escort and dragon."

She was excited to check things out in spite of the crowd. Fang couldn't help but smile at this. She led the way, and he was perfectly content to allow this. He was expecting her to be more tense, but this was nice. This was one of the things he liked about her. "So what's the plan?"

Even though Scirheah disagreed with Fang his words about her having all those thingd made her blush and she looked down while smiling shyly. She didn't say anything back, Scirheah didn't want to start a debate about her insecurities. Instead she squeezed Fang's hand a bit as they properly entered the ball room. And that made Scirheah gasp a bit as she took in the huge room with amazing decorations and people with gorgeous costumes. Scirheah turned to look at Fang when he asked where they should start, and it took Scirheah a moment to think of proper rhymes over her excitement. She had a wide smile on her face.
"Don't ask me, I don't know where to start. This room is like a piece of art."
Scirheah turned back to stare at the room, and dancers, for a moment. They looked so beautiful, gliding across the floor, and Scirheah wondered if it felt like being in a fairytale to join the dance. But...Scirheah didn't know how to dance. The thought made her a bit depressed, and when Scirheah looked at Fang again her smile was a bit less wide.
"What do you do in a masquerade? All I know about them is that you dance, eat, maybe lose a shoe and a prince comes to your aid."
Scirheah chuckled at her own joke, she was referencing Cinderella, an old fairytale she had recently read. It still made her laugh, the fairytales in her own world were similar but Scirheah laughed at them too.
