Sofia continued to watch Riley with all the patience in the world. A god of destroying. She could understand why that was dangerous, why the school had decided that her powers needed to be locked down...but she also understood Riley's point. It certainly didn't seem helpful to be repressing someone's powers instead of teaching them how to control it. Sofia had only learned to control her wolf by doing it herself, with Caius's help...but if they'd just repressed it, she'd probably be much worse off than she was now.

The woman nodded. "People aren't perfect. They make mistakes. Sometimes what one person thinks is best is different from what another person thinks is best. You've previously put others in danger due to your outbursts, Riley, but if you can learn to control your gifts and use them for their intended purpose - and not hurt anybody - then I'm sure the school will see things in a different light."

"I haven't hurt anyone in power classes yet." It was the only time they took off the bracelet. She hated when they ended. She also hated that they had control over when and where she was allowed to be a God.

"And I'm not having outbursts!" She raised her voice. "I already know how to control my blowing things up power. But if you got snatched by some weird guy you'd try to get away too and that's what I was doing. That was the only time I have ever hurt someone here, and..." Riley ultimately decided not to go anywhere else with that, so she tied it off with a vague gesture.

Sofia just looked on as Riley shouted at her in protest, raising an eyebrow. She hadn't been given all the details of that incident, but she remembered briefly reading something about it in Riley's files. It had been summed up with a 'see the dean for details' kind of statement. She supposed she couldn't blame Riley; if she'd been grabbed by a stranger, Sofia probably would have hurt whoever it was, too.

"Okay. Well, I think this session has been at least somewhat fruitful," she replied after several moments of consideration. "If there's anything else you need to talk about, I'm all ears, or you're free to head out. I'll be speaking with 'the powers that be' about getting that bracelet removed, hopefully by the end of the week, okay?"

Riley took a second to breathe, to process what Sofia had said and to calm down a little bit. "...You really mean it?" she asked. "You're going to try to make them take it off?"

She still wasn't entirely used to the idea of someone in Sofia's position actually trying to help her. They were the enemy. She didn't trust them. Even if Sofia had helped her out back at the grocery store, she was still sitting in the wheely chair across the desk. You can't trust an adult in a wheely chair. If not for how fun those chairs were to spin around in, she would want to destroy every wheely chair for the sins of their occupants. But they were very fun to spin around in. She would tolerate the chairs.

With a gentle smile, Sofia nodded. "I'll do everything I can, Riley. That's a promise," she assured the girl. She had gathered by now that Riley had trust issues when it came to adults, especially adults that were associated with the Academy...Sofia hoped to change that, at least a little bit. She wanted to show the girl that not all adults were that bad.

"Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you, okay? Within reason, I'll try to make it happen. I'll be looking into your parents' situation and see what I can find out, too." She was curious to know exactly what had happened.

It started to hit Riley that this could be real. She could actually get the bracelet off. She might get to see her parents again.

Riley started to cry. She didn't have a word for the emotions she was feeling, but they overwhelmed her. She couldn't let Sofia see it though - despite their current truce, she didn't want someone on that side to see her like this. So she hid her face in a kleenex and tried to play it off as allergies.

"I uh," she sobbed, "I think I'm allergic to something in here." Maybe Sofia would buy that. "Am I in trouble or can I go now?"

Sofia could sense Riley's emotions rising and gave the girl a gentle, understanding smile. She knew that she was doing the right thing by going to these lengths for Riley, seeing how important it was to her in this moment of weakness.

"You can go. I'll speak with your teacher about the paper and see what we can do about your grade, though you may have to write another one, so be prepared for that if it comes up. Have a nice day, Riley."
