Oh, Ava was aware that so many Drakenhardts had short tempers that she was wondering why the island was not in pieces because of angry dragon tantrums. But since Titus offered to help Ava keep her in check she knew all the dragons were good at control, better than Ava at least. Ava nodded and smiled just a bit, it felt good to have someone at your back.
"I'm not gonna let you forget those embarrassing stories, I wanna hear them."

Ava raised a brow at what Titus said next. She didn't think she had done anything else that badly wrong, what was the other thing about?
"Well, what is it? Did I do something else? Is it about that bear incident?"

"Bear inci- I'll ask later.. um," he was slightly thrown off. Titus had her here now and it was time she'd gotten the news. She had a right to it. "So I had some suspicions on your father for a while, and that's what I've been looking into for you."

"He died a few years ago, killed actually. Had we known about you and your mother at any point we would have at least been in your lives. Maybe all of this could have been prevented. I'm... sorry."

Ava made a mental note not to mention the bear incident anymore, and she hoped Titus would forget about it. But Ava forgot about those thoughts completely when Titus mentioned her father. Ava's eyes concentrated on Titus and she leaned forward. And froze in that position when Titus said the words he died.
Ava's face went blank as her mind desperately tried to process what Titus was saying through the initial denial. There was no way that bastard was dead. Not him too. Not without taking responsibility, that was too easy. He...
He couldn't have left Ava alone. Not that bastard too.

Ava let her eyes turn to the floor and her head sunk. This had fueled her. The fact that her dad might've been alive somewhere, that she could yell at him, blame him for everything. But now it was all ripped away, it felt like the earth itself crumbled from beneath Ava.
Ava's shoulders shook as she squeezed her hands together so hard that her nails penetrated skin and drew blood. Ava was desperately holding back tears, that bastard was not worth crying for. Ava grimaced from the sudden breathtaking sadness she felt, why did she have to feel this way because of that useless excuse of a father? Ava slowly lifted her face and looked at Titus. Her temperature was slowly rising, like a volcano on the brink of eruption.
"What was his name?"

"Avrill, his name was Avrill," Titus moved over to sit next to Ava and make an attempt at comforting her. Fortunately the house was fireproof, he could feel her temperature rising. He just wasn't sure what to say to her. She was angry, and he couldn't blame her in the slightest. He'd reach out and put a hand on her shoulder.

"Avrill...that's..."
Ava frowned and separated her hands only to squeeze them into fists. Ava and Avrill, those names were too close to comfort for her even if they only shared two first letters. Suddenly Ava wanted to change her name into something else all-together. She wanted to get as far away from the source of her pain as possible. Of her father, her mother, the...
The Drakenhardts.
Ava felt Titus sit next to her and felt him try to touch her. Ava's body moved before her brain could catch up. She shoved his hand away and stood up fast, looking like an animal driven to a corner. Fierce, but so scared.
"I...I can't...don't touch me."
Ava started breathing heavily and took a step back, her temperature steadily rising and the room getting hot because of it. She turned around quickly left the house, heading somewhere where she could shout without anyone bothering her.

Titus pulled back as Ava got up and left. He let out a tired sigh and flopped onto the couch. What a shitty day. He'd give her some space, but would make a point to make sure she knew he was there if she needed anything.
