This was surprisingly more difficult thought Izumi as she tried to retake the gourd. When they tried to take the booze back she was pushed back by Soosei's surprising strength. But as Soosei went for another big gulp Izumi seized the initiative and yoinked the sake back into their possession, leaving not another drop for the tipsy kitsune.

"Now now... we don't want you to have too much of hangover when you wake up the next morning~" snickered Izumi as lift up a foot to hold back Soosei should they start trying to crawl on her on to reclaim the booze. This was certainly amusing but getting drunk in some dark enchanted woods was just asking for a bad time. If one was to get completely hammered it was best to do it at home or at a friends house.

"So now that you have done the whole guardian deity gig, what have you been up to since coming to this island?" asked Izumi as the hold the sake just so ever out of reach of Soosei

"Hangova, hannova, bah...", Soosei was feeling a lil grumpy from being denied getting herself so smashed to the point she'd crash anywhere. She wanted to steal another "sip", but only her eyes told that, as internally she clashed with herself. Somewhere before the question was posed, Soosei's scent changed and... It was impossible to determine whether she was a she anymore, or even a he. It was... A mix?

"Hm... Hmmm... Bakin' and sellin' manju. Hm...", they seemed a bit pensive, "To bee faar... I miss da whol deity gig, but watcha cann eye do? Buut... That aincha all: Ah wanna kill Hakujuu, be free of 'im."

"Baking? Oh that sounds delightful!" exclaimed Izumi as they tail begins to wag "Mhmmm... I might have to stop by your place grab manju for myself- I mean for my family. Heh..."

This talk of playing guardian spirit left Izumi feeling nostalgic for those similar times. While she does enjoy her life in the present, its times like these that part of her yearns for the past.

"But yeah... I think back quite fondly to those simpler times but... worlds change... magic is disappearing, and those silly humans don't need gods like us looking over them. I guess its like watching kids growing up." sighed Izumi as they drown the felling of melancholy with a big swig of sake. Even as it burns down their through, it only numbs the memory slightly.

As they looked to their companion they had to do a double take as they looked more masculine than they recalled. But Izumi was just chalking it just beer googles (or sake googles in this case) even if they didn't feel all that tipsy...

"Gods... listen to us old ladies reminiscing about them good old days... but nothing helps moving on like a bit of booze..." mused Izumi as it looked like she was going to allow Soosei another sip but then takes back the gourd as she then asks "Wait how old of an old lady are you again?"

"Mmmaybe? Eye 'unno, dey jus... Keep prayin' 'n offerrin' at the shrain 'n it jus works.", they just slurred it out, unsure on whether to numb the memories or bring them back. Soosei was still worried about the humans in Nara, after all they still gave they things that unknowingly helped they grow and learn...

It took some time for a little of sobriety to come, face still flushed, but their voice less slurred. "I kind of don't want to move on... Not completely at least. They unknowingly made me what I am...", they were about to reach for the gourd, until Izumi pulled it away to ask they age. With a snort that seemed to come from a chuckle withheld, they responded: "Twenty. No ordinary fox can live this long."

"Twenty?! You are just a kid. Well compared to me at least." commented Izumi, expecting the kitsune to be much MUCH older based on the way they were presenting themselves. While just a youngling compared to Izumi, they at least were old enough to drink.

"But you have a point. The people you choose to be around make you who you are. I did not mean to suggest completely forgetting the past. Just having to strength to not spend your life dwelling on the past."

"I'm but a spark before the pyres in this island.", surprisingly... They were still holding back on fetching the gourd. "First time I had a swig of saké... Or rather, downed an entire bottle... I forgot who was it that made a prayer to have their high risk surgery go without a hitch. Had a panic attack, but thankfully they survived, found out next morning.", and what followed was a sigh of relief.

"Imagine if the people knew... The woman selling manju was me. Hah, bet they'd have the hardest time believing... May I have another swig? A swift one, I mean.", and even when passed the gourd, she'd just take a small sniff and explain a little more first: "To think the moment I exacted revenge on the one who robbed me of my family, was the moment a single human mistook me for deity, and then a chain of rumors started, leading them to see me as a deity."
