Name: Yoichi Koray
Age: 17
Birthday: February 29
Gender: Male (Him, He)
Species: Baku
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: Sophomore (10th Grade)

Appearance Description:

A young man standing at a tall 5'10" (5'11" with his heels) with a lanky stature. Immediately dark purple hair with white streaks tacked onto it can be noticed. Bright red eyes dulled in gaze by lack of good sleep and energy stand out next due to his absolute pale complexion; rather clear he doesn't stay outdoors much. From build and stature alone, appears clear that Yoichi weighs a bit less than he should at his age and height. Though, at least a rather traditional uniform jacket of Japanese origin loosely over a spandex bodysuit to compliment rather baggy black pants. The largest oddity is the purple heels and golden bangles adorned by him.

Personality Description: Despite looks, Yoichi is not uncaring or lacking in passion. Open minded, artistic, and indeed 'passionate' are apt words for him. A young heir whom loves his family and the world beyond; finding it enigmatic at every turn. Unfortunately, Yoichi lacks the energy to ever display this compassion. Due to being usually exhausted, his personality is depicted to be more stubborn and prideful to a fault. For example; instead of speaking in poetic mannerisms, he will talk in swift to the point words in monotone. Any ounce of patience becomes stretched thin. But no matter if tired, or 'full of energy'? Yoichi is dedicated, and hardworking. Rarely will he take a roadblock ceasing his progress without attempting every means of bypassing it to proceed onward!

Active Abilities:

The Legacy of the Dream Eater:
Being a baku, naturally the ability to eat the dreams of others follows suit by nature. Whether it be nightmares, or sweet sugary day dreams? All of such is nourishment to Yoichi. This is one of the only ways amongst two for him to have enough energy to function like a typical human being. The other method being the consumption of cooked human flesh. Dreams fed upon leave the target either with pleasant afterglow (if a nightmare), or somewhat sleep deprived from a rise in nightmares (if a 'pleasant' dream is feasted on). When awake his targets can be chosen, but when asleep it is unconsciously done to acquire him nourishment for the next day to come. Usually the range at which a target can be found whilst essentially 'passed out' can expand quite a distance; enough to reach up to two city blocks. While conscious it instead limited to only one city block in range. Whilst unconscious too, his body seeks at the bare minimum required to wake up and function the next day.

Targets whilst awake are found when Yoichi enters a 'daydream' state; where his focus travels outward to seek them out. This requires him to be awake and able to concentrate, as this does not render him unconscious. Tip-toeing between a world of dreams and reality, in a way. It tends to be represented a sort of misty shadow being leaping around surfaces and distances that shouldn't be possible. Those dreaming, in the eyes of this being, emit of constant stream of silvery purple mist that rises to the sky; whether it be through the cracks of windows, buildings, or otherwise. This acts as a beacon to attract it. Similarly the being will seep through into the area the person is sleeping via those means and loom over the target. It tends to project itself as deformed hound, though this changes frequently in shape for its own humor usually. A nightmare takes little time, below ten minutes to devour from these targets. Pleasant dreams average in taking twice as long.

Art of the Lonely Baku: Using the energy from the what he has fed upon and channeling it through his brush? Yoichi can paint the dreams that he has fed upon. With a typical canvas sized surface, these painting acts as a moving tale; akin to if someone drew on a stack of sticky notes and flipped through them to simulate animation. The paintings world depends on the dream itself, it is subject to that dreams essential rules. Those who watch it long enough might begin to hallucinate and feel as if they are apart of the dream itself. This process takes about five minutes of watching it periodically to fall into such a trance.

If the painting has been sketched across, say, an entire wall or room like a mural? This effect is then able to effect things far easier. Multiple people can, as a result, be apart of an experience this dream world together. The hallucinations can occur in half the time, and those who study the room are more susceptible to it.

These dreams worlds/experiences are magically induced and effect the psyche. They cannot physically harm anyone. For them to persist over long periods of time, reapplication via the methods made to make it in the first place must be done. For a canvas sized painting it must be yearly or the effect ends, and it becomes a normal painting. For a mural/room sized painting, it requires monthly reapplication.

Art of Protection: Yoichi is capable of making more than dreams come to life; another of his capabilities is inclined in making items, weaponry, or creatures to jump out of the canvas to be utilized. The following are the properties behind it:

  1. The paintings can be of any height or width. The limit of it is how high he can reach. Paintings of four legged animals or those lower to the ground are far easier and more possible to create as a result. However the larger it is, the less time it can remain materialized. Typical creatures, weaponry and items can last for around half an hour. Paint cannot be re-applied to these; they need to be repainted/remade. Currently Yoichi is not skilled enough to make something taxing like a Leviathan, or a mythical blade of a specific tale. At best only mythical creatures that fall below a typical black bears size is what he is capable of.
  2. Anything created is no stronger than what its originated form is capable of. These beings can have mana taken from them and become a puddle of ink, or can be easily washed away with water in all cases to be deformed and return to un-concentrated ink.
  3. All of these created are controlled by Yoichi. But adopt the properties and characteristics of what they are originated off of.
  4. A surface, like always, is required to accomplish/make any of this. Whether it be a wall, a piece of paper or something else.

Passive Abilities:

A Conduit of Magecraft: A high amount of magical circuits run through the young heir. Most around his arms and hands. Required for him to expel mana into his sumi brush to 'make his creations truly come to life'. The quantity of them exist to be around thirty-seven. Their quality by sheer chance of birth were quite suited for extensive use. To perform more difficult spells that are for more draining or straining upon the body. The only downside? Attempting to, say, induce a typical classroom to an entire 'illusion world' made by a dream upon a painting would be utterly draining and so stress inducing on Yoichi in a tired state that it would make him go unconscious for a few days or worse. For him to be able to perform with his circuits at their peak? He must be full sustained in energy for the day. Otherwise they work at half their rather strong capacity and output. The aforementioned sumi brush regardless is utilized to reduce the amount of mana required to make these magical paintings without straining user.

Hands of the Painter:
While most of his other abilities are on par with a typical human? Yoichi's hand coordination is impeccable. Ambidextrous; constantly painting with both hands busy at work. Whether it be whilst undernourished, or fully nourished, this is remains consistent. It could be called superhuman with what speeds that he paints. It is no faster than what he is capable of when fully nourished however.

Mind of Countless Thought:
A quick thinker bred from life as a baku. From juggling the dreams eaten throughout his life within his mind? Yoichi's managed to think at a superhuman pace; almost twice as fast when compared to a typical human. This tends to be used for quick and decisive decision making used in deciding how to paint. It also happens to be the source of his stubborn nature when undernourished. After all, he is quick to confirm a decision and compare it to other options in his mind. Exploring where various thoughts may branch to and finding one or two solutions that give the best results; in his opinion anyways.

The Nullification and Spark of Life: Much akin to how his personality is effected by how nourished Yoichi is? So too is his body. While undernourished; two of his main senses become essentially nullified. Anything touched or tasted produces the following reactions:

· Sensation of 'touch', or feeling in general becomes quite numb. Yoichi has lived with it long enough to walk fine and perform basic human functions to tolerate it. However a blow that could, in example, break one of his legs won't register or get a reaction from him. This often can lead to further damaging the leg just trying to use it unknowingly, stumbling on himself and hurting the rest of his body. An odd way to compare what it is like comes in the form of a 'Sea Pig'; where it will have parasites that burrow into its skin but, will not react to it due to a lack of a brain.

· Taste is more self-explanatory. And combined with the issue of loss of feeling one can imagine made eating a horrifying for the young heir. It's nullification is the same 'touch'; completely numbed. Yoichi cannot taste food in this regard. This, however, does not make him able to digest uncooked human flesh still for example. The body will naturally try to expel this from within via retching within half an hour upon eating it.

However, while fully nourished? Yoichi is able to be at his intended magical peak. His agility and speed becomes what would be considered superhuman; but a bare minimum. The limit is above a peak humans. Reflexes are raised to such levels enough that to dodge an oncoming bullet from a handgun is possible; an overall quicker reaction time.

Weaknesses:

Talismans:
Due to being a spiritual being, albeit one of questionable morality? Warding talismans can damper, weaken, or 'ward' him away. Whether it be making it harder for him to feed on dreams, or keep his presence away from others. But this only applies to those with the purpose to protect against yokai or Baku.

Frail Body: Since birth, Yoichi's body is far more easy to injure. For example, being punched by an above average human in terms of strength, a typical strong punch, could break bones with ease. This makes it a breeze to break limbs such his legs and arms, or even cause ribs to break; this only scratching the surface of possibility. Even repairing fracture limbs takes about twice as long for his body to naturally accomplish compared to a typical human.

The Unsuitable Heir of the Baku: Unlike the other Baku of the Koray family? The young heir has a sort of.. disorder, one could call it. Dreams are an essential food source needed for him to act at his peak performance, both in personality and arcane prowess. Nightmares give less 'fuel', but more joyous dreams give far more; usually him requiring either to feast on five nightmares, or two pleasant dreams to be sustained enough to wake up the next morning. Depraved of proper sustenance but, functional. Ten nightmares are required to be devoured for him to be at an intended healthy norm, but only four pleasant dreams are needed for the same effect (all of it akin to a 1:3 Ratio). Alternatively, human flesh can be consumed for nourishment; so long as it is cooked. A typical patty sized chunk of it can be equivalent to 'pleasant dream' devoured.

However, if Yoichi were to go without devouring the minimum amount of dreams? He will not wake up until the requirements are met. This was part of the reason that led to a poor year at school; horrid attendance!

Common Magical Items:

Simple Language Charm (Japanese): It translates a characters mother tongue into English, and allows them to hear English as their mother tongue. To be able to speak coherently when selling off his art to others is important. Naturally a tool is needed, to be able to sell them to anyone regardless of language is useful after all! The right bangle on his wrist acts as such for him. Commonly used in his everyday life.

Biography: To live a life constantly within the expectations and shadow of those whom came before; baring the sins and virtue of each man from the past. All while the family adored and loved begins to crumble around him. This is the state of what Yoichi Koray was born into. The family had began to decline in the last few decades; once renowned for their spiritual ties within the continent of Japan. In public their reputation was kept formal as can be. A powerful family who's foresight and ability to ward off the supernatural was second-to-none. Eventually, a particular secret of its inner practices within its families became known to the local district that they lived within. That despite their good nature to the people; they devoured the flesh of men for food, that all within it were monsters posing as human beings. Rumors continued, funding and trusts from the people and the higher class decayed and dissolved. The rumors were never proven and with cunning, made to seem false in the eyes of the district. By the paranoia continued. Even with help from the Agents/Scouts of the Veil to cease the controversy, the public's worry never truly vanished. The Koray, a family whom was made from the joining of an ancient union of a Japanese man with his beloved Turkish bride? Crumbled into a shell of its former glory over time. The family that held various Youkai whom joined together to live a simple life amongst humanity was now a shattered dream without prosperity.

To become a man who will bring glory to their name once more; and expected by a majority save for his mother and father to fail that task spectacularly. This is the weight put upon the young man. As a lad this weight alluded him, unable to grasp what the future had in store. At first life was one of naive bliss. A wonderful childhood with adoration for his parents, little sister, and baby sister at the time. All as simple. Soon the wave of puberty, an a more expansive comprehension of the world flooded his mind. The sensation of it all drowned him; a tsunami of sudden realization crashed into the young heir without mercy. The joyous little child now had a mild taste of his future.. a curse furthered by his odd disorder; potentially further spurred by the exhaustive weight of the duties that he was being taught to start abiding by as the responsible man required for him to become.

No longer did Yoichi go outside, or join friends in merriment. Time spent within Japan with his family was to study, be trained in more high societal norms and acts. A personal life was pushed aside entirely, though by mercy perhaps the arts taught to him during this training captivated the hungry imaginative mind of the young heir. What life was left of his own desire? Was put in dedication to become the 'destined heir all needed him to be', even if it felt the world itself conspired against even his very birth to stop that.

Eventually though stress hit its peak. Upon turning sixteen and going into Highschool the societal expectations of Japan, and its stern iron fist with what was expected of students alongside the burdens of his families brought him to a breaking point. He had barely been able to pass that year. Luckily, another act of mercy came. A letter, due to perhaps having been helped by the Veil, from an Academy far away that potential heard of the controversy or the capabilities of his families heritage in divination, magecraft; their unique prowess in rather obscure arcana. With life growing difficult at home and within his home continent? Reluctantly, encouraged by his family and sisters? Yoichi took the final opportunity to gain some form of 'glory'.. and began the journey and packing needed to go to the academy. A final desperate act.

Resources: Expenses for Yoichi's stay at the academy and the resources meant to accommodate him are fulfilled thanks to his family. While not the most well off, they still have enough fortune to be considered amongst the upper class of society.

Quality parchment, canvas' and more; obviously to be painted upon. This goes from typical textbook sized paper to large spanning canvases. Not entirely necessary, but allows a proper surface for Yoichi's art to be fully realized and of high quality. This is usually sent to him on mass by his family. Alongside the ingredients to continue making the families famous magical ink needed to enhance and imbue his art to come to life in the first place.

Additional Information: There is more put into the Koray family that I can elaborate on if needed; or can just have unraveled from RP. If any of that is requested to be detailed further due to expecting to potentially delve deeper into it at some point? Happy to do so!
