With one final announcement, Carmin's math class was dismissed for the day and the students were released for the rest of the day. A long time ago, Carmin used to remember loving this moment, but now he was kind of impartial about it. Class was class, he'd pay attention, jot down notes and learn whatever was taught. It was work, but it was something to do. After school, there'd be some homework, but after that there was nothing. On the rare occasion, a friend would want to hang out, but those were hard to come by.
Today wasn't really set to be any different. Another head-down walk to his locker. He opened it and started getting his things packed up, putting them neatly into his backpack. After that, the plan was to head home, do his work and then read. The routine was honestly pretty stale at this point. He gave a quiet sigh as he started zipping up his bag.
