With his own kind

Token could hear the wolves in the forest. Could hear them howling, could hear them running, could hear their feasts. And it tore him up inside. All he had of his pack were memories of Before. Before they found him and took him to the laboratories for tests.

Now, he didn't know if he had what it took to be a wolf anymore. He was still feral in his mind, but his habits and manerisms were becoming more humanized. His ears perked as a howl went up. Others followed it, harmonizing. It was Pack Song. Singing just for the joy of it.

Token kept silent and resisted the urge to answer. He knew his own howl would be weak in comparison, wouldn't rise as high as their's, due to miss use. He sat in a tree overlooking a path, huddled next to the trunk, cold with lonliness. He missed his family...

A shadow walked nearby, its agile and powerful pace covering much land in a single stride. Pale grey and white coat gleamed in the light as silver eyes searched for something he could put fangs in and thast the blood. he didn't like when the wolves were out, because they were not on good terms with felines such as himself.

Token's head shot up, sniffing the air. He smelled something... feline. However, this wasn't your normal house cat. It smelled of cold mountains and powerful claws. The boy frowned, pulling himself up higher in the trees. A lone wolf such as himself wouldn't fair well with such a cat out on the prowl...

The snow leopard stopped dead on his tracks, there was something around not too far... It was not a wolf nor was it a human... How confusing...
He climbed in a tree, search to be higher so he could have a better look at his surroundings.
Unfortunately, it was the tree the young one was in... He stepped on the first branch and looked around.

Token's eyes widened as the big cat climbed up in his tree, and he looked wildly around for an escape. In the trees, swinging from branch to branch, he might have a chance. On the ground, the cat would over take him in an instant. However, there was no easy way out of the tree he'd climbed so high in, if he didn't want to risk a broken bone.

Instinctivly, he whined, the regretted it, knowing it would alert the cat to his presence.

Snapping his head to the sound, his eyes widen a bit at his luck... He had litterally stumbled on what he had smelled earlier...
Hello? called the telepath.

Token huddled closer to the tree trunk, teeth bared in the moonlight. Suddenly, something spoke inside his head. "Hello?" He mimicked, ears pressed flat against his head in a subconcious effort to keep things out of his head. He didn't have very good grasp of the english language... However, if he would come into view of the feline, he'd be able to use the body language of most four legged creatures.

He approached more, cautious of the ever getting smaller branches.
Finally he came into view of the wolf/boy creature...
he cocked his head to the side in slight confusion... those like himself or this boy weren't that common...

Token's ears remained flat against his hair, but he raised his head slightly, in a silent question: "Are you going to attack me?" His fist clenched and his tail stiffened: "Because, if you are, you should be warned. I'm not as helpless as I looked." He hoped that the feline would take his bluff, because he knew that he wouldn't be able to take on this cat in a full blown battle.
