YE WEN
Ye Wen shifted in her seat. Music class was in session, and the teacher was discussing genres of music -- classical, pop, metal, folk songs and more -- some of which she'd never heard of. So much for being the god of music; her repertoire, while quite large, was currently in the process of being expanded. The teacher said some things that escaped her attention. She was seated at the front row of the classroom, but the music teacher's soft voice didn't quite reach her ears.

Finally the man raised his volume, and Wen realised they were to do a project. It could be on anything, except that it had to be related to music, and by the project's end, they had to have produced a song. Furthermore, he'd be assigning pairs for the duration of the project, "to foster bonding", and the project was to be finished in two weeks -- a relatively short timeframe.

Wen, she heard the teacher say, and Wen looked at him. You'll be working with Bel. Wordlessly, she turned then to look for aforementioned Bel.

For her part, Bel was only semi-paying attention to their teacher. She didn't dislike Music. The class was interesting and all, and great for cheerleading - Bel had even applied some concepts to their routines, but all in all, she wasn't as invested in it as others in the class might be. Maybe it was because she considered her music skills to be only "satisfactory" and nothing special, at least compared to others in the class anyways.

Hearing her name called, and who she was paired with, Bel glanced curiously around the class, she knew who Wen was, she just did not have too much interaction with her.

Spotting her partner finally, Bel smiled at her and gave Wen a little wave, making a few gestures and mouthing quietly that she should wait outside for Bel when the class ended in a few minutes.

YE WEN
Her eyes searched fruitlessly, but Wen's partner found her before Wen found her. She'd never paid attention to who was who and as a result was surprised to see what Bel looked like -- though she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. Bel was the epitome of picture perfect; her hair fell in golden waves over her shoulders; her eyes were a gentle, sparkling jade green. She was pale-skinned and so her eyes stood out like small jade rings. Bel was, quite simply, beautiful. She was exactly the type of person Wen would never normally associate with. Wen at once understood why their teacher had decided upon such a pairing.

Bel smiled at her. Wen blinked in acknowledgement, and slowly moved her hand in something reminiscent of a wave. Then, she nodded, and turned back to face the front, where the teacher finished detailing all the nitty gritty bits of project work, before dismissing them all.

Wen didn't stand immediately, in no rush to meet Bel. But she did, with purpose in her movements, meet the girl outside the class as requested, reasonably promptly.

When the school bell rang to end the class, Bel immediately picked up her things and headed towards the door with the other students in the classroom figuring that Wen would be right behind her.

Waiting calmly outside the room, Bel waved again when she saw Wen finally emerge moments later.

"Hey, over here," Bel said as she greeted her partner while taking in her demure appearance. Wen was really quite cute she realised but in a nerdy quiet sorta way. "I'm Bel, by the way, short for Beltaine," she explained.

"We have never spoken before, but I have seen you around. I think we have Math together as well," she said with a warm smile. "Wanna go get something to eat, maybe a pizza, and talk about the project?" she offered.

YE WEN
"Hey, over here."

Now that she was standing, Wen realised just how tall Bel actually was. Bel stood at least a good 7 centimetres above Wen. The girl took a step back, aiming to look Bel in the eyes without having to crane her neck to do so. "Wen," she said, voice quietly amused, "Short for Wen."

Not really one for pleasantries (though she could find a hundred banal phrases to regurgitate), Wen nodded at Bel's explanation of how the other girl knew what she looked like. Come to think of it, Wen had seen Bel around. She'd have to look out for her more, now. One more person to observe.

Bel was very cheery, Wen noted. She was warm and welcoming, and her personality bright, but not eclipsing. She wondered if Bel was popular around the school. "Why not?" Wen replied, shrugging. "Where?"

"Cool," Bel replied happily as they began walking down the crowded hallway and toward their lockers.

"There is a little pizza place nearby about ten minutes away. We can walk over there, or if you want we can just order in, and go back to the common room instead and just relax while we discuss what we want to do."

YE WEN
Would Bel be upset if Wen opted to order in? Perhaps she was softhearted, or perhaps she was just a people-pleaser. Wen's brows furrowed, as if deeply contemplating Bel's words. She felt as though she should be deferring to Bel's choice; the girl was, after all, more familiar with the place than she was. "Anything." Wen shrugged, eyeing her locker.

She still wasn't used to the concept of having a locker. All her things could fit into her backpack, so why should she be keeping her books and such in there? Instead, Wen's locker was sparsely-littered with small feathers that she hadn't yet cleared. A second copy of her timetable hung on the door. Still, she as she waited for Bel to finish whatever she needed to do, Wen put her bag into the locker, removing her valuables -- money and phone.

"What's good?" She usually ate Chinese food, or cooked. Wen rarely ate pizza; she'd definitely be going with Bel's choice on this one.

"Well," Bel said as she placed her books inside her locker and grabbed her boho style handbag, slinging it over her shoulder.

"How about we just order in? I'm afraid it's starting to snow again and I don't really feel like going out in this weather," she admitted to Wen as she glanced rather regretfully at the snow falling lightly outside.

"I don't know about you, but I feel like a ham and mushroom pizza, maybe with onions or tomatoes?" Bel suggested as the two girls headed back to the common room; stopping for a moment to greet a group of girls who wanted to know when the next football practice was.

"That's okay," said Wen, secretly relieved. She followed Bel's gaze to one of the windows. True to Bel's word, snow was again settling onto the ground. Wen nodded along; she didn't have any opposition. She retrieved her bag -- if they were going to order in, then she'd no need to leave her things in the locker. Walking alongside the taller girl, Wen found herself carefully watching while Bel dealt with passers-by in the hallways. Momentarily, she wondered if Bel had been in any sort of leadership role. She did seem so comfortable with the school and its students.

They turned the corner into the common room. Wen found a free table and sat her belongings onto the chair tucked under it. "If you call," she said to Bel then, "I can make us some drinks." She knew what she wanted -- a western concoction they called "hot chocolate". Wen would normally drink a cup of tea, but she wasn't sure if the common room had the tea she usually had.

As they sat down together, Bel put her bag on the table and dug out her phone. "Sounds good to me. I will call in our pizza order while you get the drinks," she remarked agreeably as she punched in the number of the pizza place.

After a few short minutes, Bel ended the call with a satisfied look on her face. "I am just going to run down to the front door and pick the pizza up. They are so fast. It should be here in ten minutes," she explained as she grabbed her wallet.

"Supposedly the place is run by a witch... rumor is her family is from Italy and she just cooks everything instantly and as it's ordered," Bel said as she got up from the table.

"I'll be back in a jiffy," she smiled as she hurried out of the common room in a quick flurry.
