Every place has rumors, and Manta Carlos is no different. This thread exists to help people get a feel for what kind of gossip their characters would be hearing. If something's going on in-character, and you think other characters would know about it, be sure to post here and let others know!

Word is spreading pretty fast: sometime after the shadow that briefly passed over Manta Carlos, there was a traffic jam downtown. Get this, it was a horse drawn carriage just sitting in the road. No driver or anything. The horse got spooked and tried to run and animal control had to be called.

Rumor: A new fighter appeared in the arena today. Wearing black armor and wearing a mask/helmet, he kept his real name a secret from the crowd and other fighters and went by the alias: Einar. During his first fight he was noted for being quite vicious and intelligent, taking his opponent down handily.

Rumor: A teenage oni, who only moved to the island a week ago, has been going around town asking questions about Father Hadley.

Who's Hearing It?: Anyone familiar with Father Hadley, either as a personal acquaintance or through his work. She doesn't sound happy when she asks anyone anything about him.

Rumor: Andrasta Keegan, former student body president and that girl who hates detention a lot, went crazy or got into a fight or something. There were a lot of explosions out in the woods behind her house, and then one of her foster parents walked her home crying. Some speculation has been made as to what happened.

(in truth, she did not get into a fight, she just had a tantrum. If asked, she'll be cagey about it.)

Rumor: A video of Arno Thorndrake fighting his boxers (plus a shirt) in the tournament is circling Manta Carlos social media. The reaction is a mix of laughs, people finding the half dragon attractive and the usual online weirdness.
Who's Hearing It?: All the students and any adult who does social media a lot.

Rumor: Rowan Alabaster has apparently died during a ritual that was supposed to remove the eldritch parasite in his body. Apparently local eldritch Altizica and Index aided him in the ritual, with it going wrong and ending with Rowan being incinerated.
Who's Hearing It?: Mainly students and teachers, but also anyone who knew Rowan.
